    Chapter 2

You do have a fine hand with humorous dialog. I'm still interested.
  2. Bite me, Buttercup.
  3. I was wondering when you were going to remember that. My ability to bite my tongue is proportional to the fequency of Jeremy's posts. It is a constant struggle to keep it classy.
  4. Antipasto platter.

    Chapter 1

Okay - you have my attention. So far, so good. I'm looking forward (notice there is no 's' on the end of that word ) to what comes next. One nitpick though: “I’m starting to think I didn’t wake up this morning an I’m having a horrible nightmare. All my most horrible fuckin nightmares have you in em.” Those dropped letters are going to drive me nuts. While there is some leeway in dialog, that leeway depends on the character and/or the character's age. Unless I miss my guess, Nico isn't fifteen. Therefore, he shouldn't talk like he's fifteen.
  6. Roasted Chicken – Everyone should know how to roast a whole chicken. It is the quintessential go to meal for Sunday and/or company dinner. Ingredients 1 whole chicken (a 3 1/2 to 4 pound bird will serve 4) Coarse salt, black pepper Olive oil Directions Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Season chicken generously with salt and pepper. Rub with olive oil. Tie legs together with kitchen twine and tuck wing tips beneath body. Roast on a small rimmed baking sheet until an instant-read thermometer inserted in a thigh reads 165 degrees, about 12 minutes per pound. Let chicken rest 10 minutes before carving. If you like, add: Herbs: Tuck a few sprigs inside the cavity and underneath the chicken. Good picks are rosemary, thyme, savory, and oregano. Vegetables: Toss them with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Scatter carrots, potatoes, and sweet potatoes around the bird at the start of cooking; add garlic, onion, lemon, and parsnips after 30 minutes.
  7. She did really great today, so she deserves that nap! It was wonderful seeing those I knew again, and meeting a few new people too. It's amazing how easy it is to carry on real conversations with those you usually 'talk' to via your keyboard. Good group of people. Plus I got a lot of hugs!

    So cold

My kids and I love the Smithsonian museums and make lots of day trips when the weather's warmer. You can stand on the Mall and pick a direction. There are wonders to see no matter which way you go. It's more of the Kennedy Center in the winter for the ballet and the symphony - at least one of each. They also do a free performance of something every evening at 6pm. A free shuttle runs from the Foggy Bottom metro stop.
  10. Just as an FYI - anyone using DC's Metro system this weekend should check their website for ongoing weekend track work. Depending on what line you're using, you may need to build in extra travel time. http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/news/PressReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=5412
  11. Jeremy, I see your hypothetical characterizations are running fast and loose again. Yeah, no. Brad and Matt...just, no. I know all these characters walk a fine line sometimes, but that pairing is just too creepy. Rates right up there with any kink involving live things with fur.
  12. Well now...Will didn't intentionally drug Robbie. That was just a side bonus.
  13. Happy Birthday Cassie!!! Best wishes for a great day.
  14. I'm in along with both my daughters (depending on their work schedules). David (LB) is also in, I just have to remind him (note to self - remind David).

  17. I'm not comparing. As the award title says, I'm choosing, as a reader, my favorite (best - if you will) story as defined by the listed categories. It makes no difference to me if it's a short story, a mult-chapter story, or a 150 chapter saga that's been posting for five years.
  18. Why? The 'new' in both those categories has always meant 'posted a story/anthology for the very first time'. When the member actively joined the site doesn't matter. *Retired head bean counter
  19. Way, way fewer...seriously.
  20. Happy Birthday, Krista!! Best wishes for a great day.
  21. Robbie's an asshole. He's been acting like an asshole. He will continue to act like an asshole until such time as he realizes he's been acting like an asshole. Hopefully that happens before he completely trashes every relationship he has with his family.
  22. James, I read this story the first time around and loved it then. I'm having just as much fun reading the second time. The change in view points is a big help in keeping all the action straight. Very Tom Clancy-ish, which are some of the best books in this genre. Nothing beats a good spy-type thriller.
  23. This is where that Groucho Marx eyebrow wiggle emoticon would come in handy.
  24. My inbox got five chapters in six days. The only day I didn't get a chapter was Christmas. But you guys are in for one hell of a ride. I'm still weepy over chapter 91. Good stuff.
  25. Happy Birthday Jack!! Best wishes for a great day.
