Don't count the bad reviews that are bad. There are always bad apples out there. Just go for all of the Good apples out there and you know they taste so good even if you're learning something new. First I try to get to know the story and get all those aspects put together in my mind and then through the writing get to know the author. The latter is never easy. But I got it right on this one particular author and too bad he never returned to this site with another story or improved his writing. I don't prioritized or maybe I do ... one is am I entertained and two will the story stand the test of time for me to enjoy again. I don't prioritize the use of language or the number of errors before I quit ... that is why I scan and read and scan ... of course if the story is totally hard to read I will give up and I would ask it to be rewritten. I am sure that the most accomplish writers have a different view of this and have standards they met because thats how they are taught to function. Some of us have the knack to writing a mystery or a comedy or poetry or what ever ... some of us are just happy we get a simple story together and tell it like it is without special writing techniques. Some of us don;t have the knack for describing things or its too involved to write vs finishing the story. Some of us rush and some of us worry that we spent too much time on the story. Some of worry that you'll hate it any way. Some of us can't be bothered with the errors or too busy in our lives to notice. Some of us a light thinkers and some of us are really strong thinkers. Some of us didn't think that you have to go through a certain process to write a mystery or poem or whatever I have so say there are some writing even though imperfect and may get some weird feedback ... are sometimes perfect the way it is. Between the author and the story in sync with each other ... sometimes it marvelous to read it the way it is. You sometimes get the sense of the character or the writer or both. Eventually ... its like ok young joey or uncle bob has another story to tell. You get in to the grove of the aspects of the story. Sometimes you wish they change their style a bit because you're about to figure out the ending. Sometimes there are readers that are just fine with how the story is ... that look for the simplistic story but don't leave a comment at the same time there are readers that want more than the author can give.
