  1. If Twilight or Bieber make it into CAP canon, I'm going to ask Mark for a meteor strike on Escorial.
  2. Eh, combination of things make a person "too nice" - You are too nice if the person accusing you of being too nice isn't willing to go to the same effort you are. This generally ends up with them looking the fool. - You are too nice if you lose your personal "boundaries" by being nice. Being nice to a houseguest generally means a good bed, some decent meals and maybe some conversation. If you write your houseguest a cheque, you're being too nice.
  3. My, you have been very busy.
  4. You need a houseboy.
  5. Well, speaking of shrooms. I wonder if the magical flute was an allegory for "bong hit". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obxfuFrUTzg Sid and Marty Krofft. I think they were a little high a lot of the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3U9BuOMkmM And then there was THIS.
  6. One of the real benefits of growing up and older is that you get to build the family of your choosing rather than staying with the sometimes dysfunctional one you're born with. Every person on the planet has a toolkit. The toolkit consists of the coping mechanisms and survival instincts that get you through your day to day life with some semblance of sanity. The whole purpose of the toolkit is to allow you to deal with life as you've been dealt it. These tools are both good and bad. Some people have toolkits with abusive tools in them, because they need to feel superior or dominate others to cope. Other people have kits with drugs in them, because they don't deal with reality well (that was me back in the day). And still others have tool kits that have helping tools in them, because helping others is what gets them through the day. Every toolkit is different. Every person has tools in their kit that were given to them by their parents, and their friends, and if you choose to believe, a spiritual source. The tools you get from your parents are inherited, and their tools were passed down to them by their parents. It's often true that a long list of people in a family indulge in the behaviors that they think help them cope. That's the problem with inheriting these tools. You never can tell what tool will work for what person, and usually what works for a parent won't work for a kid, but the kid will try to use it anyway, and screw things up. But here's the thing, every single person ever born is only ever trying to do one thing: survive. Deal with life. Handle situations that aren't manageable. People that abuse others are simply using their tool kits in the only way they know how. And that, most of the time, is the tragedy of it. You can change your toolkit. Anytime. Most people go through life not understanding this. People that have survived abusive or terrible situations do, however, learn it. Whether or not they choose to do something about it, though, that's the rub. That's the hard part. Give that person a different set of tools and maybe the abuse wouldn't happen. Take the tools away from them, and they'll have to get new tools (or the alternative: not survive). So, another benefit of growing up is keeping the survival instincts and tools that have gotten you that far, and deciding which tools you want to keep and which ones you want to pitch. One other benefit that's been invaluable to me is understanding and accepting that my parents, as hard as they tried, were dealing with their own tool kits while trying to build mine. I don't think its something that any parent ever gets exactly right. And it sure screwed up my childhood. But now I really understand the "they did the best they could with what they had" mentality. It doesn't make their behavior right, but it makes it understandable, and even acceptable to me in that "what's done is done" way. I no longer look back at my physically abusive dad with anger. He's dead, it's done, I'll never have to be in that situation, ever again. So what's the point of looking back at it? To get angry again? Sorry, I don't have the time or the energy for it, it's not worth it, I have better things to spend time with. Ultimately, people choose to stay a victim of the past or elect to participate in reinventing themselves. Tiger, it sounds like you're in the middle of the reinventing thing. All I can say is, keep going. It gets better. And its so worth it. I hope everyone gets there someday (including me!)
  7. ...and Brad is okay with buying his cousin nephew brother Kevin a car? That boy IS broken. And nice touch with the "God gave us the money" thing haha Me in a break up - I was totally cool when my ex cheated on me. After we decided to end it (about a year after that), I totally lost it when he wanted to take half of our CD collection.
  8. This is relevant to my interests, sir. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  9. Brad's biological father was named Carmichael, so the incest Jeremy has in mind is likely because Kevin is going to end up being Will's nephew and Brad's grandfather somehow.
  10. Brad: "I am NOT a drama queen, you bitches! Sometimes I just want to set all your asses on fire!" Okay that's not actually IN the story, but it COULD be. YOU KNOW IT COULD BE. Also, I don't think that a happy ending precludes Brad and Robbie breaking up. It's entirely possible that they could both be happy with different partners. It's happened a few times in Mark's stories before...
  11. I bailed out on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time around book 8, there was too much wandering around and it became pretty clear he was just milking it for the dough I bailed out on Terry Brooks' "Seeker" books because there was too much of Richard and that woman being all googly-eyed in love, wow was that boring I bailed on Modesitt's books (can't even remember the series) because he had the horse "whissing" and "whiiying" or some nonsense and it was annoying If an online story goes too long without updates, I probably won't go back and read it when it's updated again unless there's word that its totally spectacular - one notable exception is "crosscurrents" because there just needs to be an end So yeah, lots of times I give up on a story or set of stories.
  12. Am I creepy? Hm. Does standing next to you, really close, count? I really like those shorts, they look good on you. Oh, me? Yeah, I'm 47. Does anyone want some iced tea? Or maybe some ice cream?
  13. Nonsense. you can have a gravestone unless there's some cultural reason you won't. We got my dad a gravestone, and it's a full upright monstrosity with pictures of race cars, a boy gutting a deer, and "show me your tramp stamp!" engraved on the back.* Not really. But that's what I want on MY gravestone.
  14. Riley, you should do this. But if you do, please invest in a good mike and a good pop filter. I don't wanna hear your saliva...er... Also, AUTOTUNE, baby. Let's hear that voice SING.
  15. Yeah, this is like "Mark sex lite". Where's the gang bangs? The slings? The fists? I'm not feeling the love. Good chapter, glad to see Brad is still the snarky asshole with the hair trigger temper.
  16. Hm, a quick read through Be Rad reveals clues. **dons red velvet smoking jacket and detective hat, lights pipe, strolls casually around the room* Billy was killed in a car accident after trying to crash a party Brad put together. There were 4 people in the car. Dennis McCartney was in the front passenger seat, with Billy in the seat behind him. They swerved into oncoming traffic and a truck slammed into the passenger side of the car, killing Dennis and Billy. The driver and the guy in the seat behind him lived. It said so, right in chapter 35, just after Brad perved on Roger laying in his bed. I deduce that either of the crash survivors (or both) are behind the despicable doings at Amphion. *takes off pants, strolls out of the room* DAMN YOU FOR POSTING BEFORE I DID ....
  17. I think it's Lark, Doug, Brian, and/or Nick, the whacko drunken Crampton.
  18. This is relevant to my interests and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  19. STEF has multiple PERSONALITY disorder and he is ACTUALLY three different PEOPLE at AMPHION. The only cure for this is BUGGERY Also, BENJAMIN WHIST is actually JIM CRAMPTON in DISGUISE and is currently SEEKING ELECTION as an ELECTOR in TWO COUNTIES. HIs mission is to FORCE JP to retire from STANFORD in shame by outing him as a STOUT COMMUNIST. :::crawls back under a rock:::
  20. I'll be in my bunk
  21. Where there's a float, there will be a queen, in Jackson, October 5-10. 5 days of solid gay pride in MS. That's better than we can do in Michigan...
  22. <phone rings> "HIYA!!" "Comsie? It's Ted. Over at WebTV?" "HI TED!!!!!! WHAT"S DOIN???" "Uh, look, Comsie, I know you love the webTV, but you're the last one. What can I do to get you to, uh, turn it off?" "BYE TED!!!" <click> "f**k"
  23. I have 300+ bookmarks easily. I use this to organize them and so I can access them from anywhere, it keeps the bookmarks synchronized across computers. I'm doing what Elias does, everything is sorted into folders and subfolders, related to either work or play. The nice thing about Firefox bookmarks is the tagging. I really like being able to tag a bookmark with a verb and a noun, it makes it so much easier to find stuff.
  24. LAAARK you bastard!!
  25. I would like to see Brad with a 79 year old tranny hooker with an attitude problem. Thank you for your support.
