I only remember a few comments about Maggie, but she honestly came across as a better person that most have been in this story so far. I know this was just one encounter but came across much better than Matthew has in this story. Chris just seems so lost. If he is how the men in the steel mill are, then this is truly more of a dystopian society than I ever suspected. I wish a doctor would look at Chris, probably won't happen but I wish they would. Really well written and the emotions just rolled off the page in this chapter, but the overwhelming one for me was sadness.

Just so sad, let's hope they are able to control the pain. I wonder if there is a way to regenerate the leg?

What a delightful way to end the day, and to begin the new one. @chris191070 is right, Tobes is likely to make an interesting comment at a totally inappropriate moment. And they were supposed to be resting to get ready to whoop ass at the cricket match.

I truly can't believe how much Jeff has managed to screw up his life in such a short time. I really did hope that the Academy might help him. Have never seen any youth detention facility that was state or county run that was anything less than a horror show. Leon is truly a good guy.

What a delightful chapter from start to finish. You never get too old to be quizzed by a parent, sometimes, I think at a certain age, they just live for it. A little shocked that Denise would have suggested that they find something with Russ or Russ adjacent. Glad that Toby hasn't gotten too much grief at school; some is unavoidable. Maybe the paint ball would be more entertaining than I would think, tried it a couple of time, and much like Denise, never saw the attraction. Deidre seems to be staying on an even keel, and that is good for everyone.

Tony and Aaron seem to be moving closer together each day. Their connection seems to be growing and the pathways there from their previous involvement are proving easy to find. I do worry a bit though, there is still some hesitancy in Aaron, and I am not sure that it would take much to set it off still. He seems to need to always be reassured, Let's hope nothing throws him off kilter.

Dust opened up to Kellen quite a bit; and I honestly thought just before the call that Kellen might have been going to open up more than he had. The fact that Dust can still feel something in him makes me believe that the magic is still there within Kellen, just locked or blocked in some way. Dust is truly a good guy, not sure that Kellen is in every sense of the word, but I think that he might be for Dust, he just doesn't know it yet. And yes, I am going to believe until proven otherwise, that Dust and Kellen belong together. No matter what some people said in the comments after the last chapter...

The meeting with Simon went well, and I do hope the cards sell well, it would benefit both the castle and Graham. Matt was really caught off guard but was excited for the opportunity to do something he loved and get paid for it, even if not in a traditional way. Equally, hope the idea of the book with the nature shots and poetry might work out as well. Love how accepting Freddie was, and I hope he gets more involved, maybe work for the new foundation in some capacity at least for a while. Peter has a past, om my god, how shocking. LOL Kjell made a total ass out of himself; Bella was better making me wonder how much of her action have just been in support of her husband. Maybe the old notebooks of Grahams will help him come up with a few new ideas. Freddie and Arvid are just too cute on so many levels. Love how Freddie jumped to Graham's defense.

Even if Dorjin wants to help, why would any of the three races trust her. What did the humans do to be driven from Earth? Probably destroyed it until the planet itself rebelled.

Loved the banter between all the guys, but especially between Tony and Aaron. A little worried about Aaron's one comments, wonder just how rough it got for him at some point.

While it appears that the end is in sight, I for one do not believe it will be that easy. The identity of the manor men in charge are now known or at strongly suspected. But knowing that doesn't help the victims of the magic bomb, nor does it tie up anything with Dust and Kellen. But we at least seem to be moving in the right direction.

Honestly, I cannot not get over Travis being this ignorant. Even if the stalker is dead, you know someone was behind him, you don't travel without some type of security besides the panic button on your phone, and you don't lug someone that you already are on shaky ground across the country with you on a plane. And that phone call was clearly a sign, although the fact the guy isn't smart enough to use the phone, probably means he clearly isn't the brains of the operation. Why the hell grab Taylor as well? This clearly has nothing to do with the Crampton/Schulter clan, if it did, Taylor would never have been taken. Still doesn't explain why. Can't see Big being smart enough to pull this off either. Is there no one keeping Travis's house up? I mean we know that John and Ryan both are leaving there, you know that John at least was raised better than to trash the house out like that and leave it. I am shocked that the family doesn't have someone looking in on them, and if so why are they letting them destroy the house like that, especially since it isn't even theirs? Lord, way to much going on, JP and Tonto need to show up and straighten them all out. LOL. God, I miss Tonto, and we need more of JP as well.

Ah, so now we understand why Leon has reacted the way he has; hate to say it, but it does make more sense now. Wish I could say that the idea of him violating his parole might keep his uncle away but doubt it. Glad that Leon stood up once again for his brother. Most of the kids have reacted better to Stephen, but there always has to be the one ass.

So, Etienne will be messenger to the Prince; and what is the message? Something that will not doubt benefit the Cardinal, but perhaps something that will also benefit the Prince as well. I don't like that Etienne was not able to say goodbye to anyone, not Enzo; but more importantly, neither Alessandro nor Giovanni. Did not appreciate how Enzo acted, his action show nothing but his insecurity, and little about true dominance. I am glad that Alessandro was able to calm Giovanni and get him to remember that they had a history before Etienne. So many questions, and so many ways this could turn out.

I think that Gabe may turn out to be better help than anyone might suspect. I do think that Val and Marina are being led around by Val's mother, the spinster nun. Toby and Noah are finding places and things to keep them occupied, but getting caught out could easily end worse than what happen with the older ladies at the Wetland Centre. They do need to be careful, I understand Toby not wanting to get too upfront with his dad or Gordon, could easily turn into a quicksand situation with the questions. Finding a project to work on would be good, something for extra credit at school. LOL

Unfortunately, any type of police work is rarely pleasant. You truly see the absolute worst of the human creatures. Hate that someone else died, just makes Dust feel more guilty, when in truth, he has probably accomplished more than anyone else, and it still isn't enough. I find all of the characters so well done, they all have their own vibe and are so interesting but also fit together with each other in the context of the story. This is something that is never easy to pull off. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Sounds like Tony is making a feast, if you like seafood. LOL. Cooking is a great way to relax for some people, focusing on that clears their minds. The new book sounds more than interesting, totally out of left field compared to the earlier work, but you never know. The contrast will be the good news, and there will be an issue with the house, either the owner is a corporation that won't sell, or the owner died intestate and there are thirty heirs fighting over the estate and it will never be settled. LOL

Let's hope that Jeff can stay out of trouble. His father was right, rarely does anyone enter a prison or juvenile facility and come out better than when they went in, yes, I know you have to do something, but the whole US prison system is simply designed to make money for corporations or the state and truly rarely does anything to help those that are put in them.
