The discussion of Scalia's reasoning in his dissent and why it fell short logically was coherent, concise and probably so even-handed that most of your readers will not understand what it implies about pending nomination of Gorsuch. Well done!
  2. The best teachers are those who love it and work tirelessly. I think you definitely could be one. Enjoy your travel this summer, but be careful Matt. There are friends here rooting for you and your success.

    Chapter 10

It could be that Tom was worried about nude photos of himself on the internet...

    Chapter 9

Jeff's small town looks like it's in for a real shake-up.

So glad that CJ's dad was not injured worse. CJ has had to deal with so much this year and it is no wonder that he over-reacted to Owen. As a veteran of the infantry who served in Vietnam and also the son of a hunter, I too have been around firearms since I was a small boy. However, I want to assure our Aussie friends and others, that there are many Americans who think our second amendment rights have been taken too far. There are many Americans who think reasonable gun control measures are legal and should be implemented to try to reduce the gun related carnage in our country. I thank you Carlos for discussing this in your story. It is a topic that shouldn't be an either/or proposition. If we don't talk about it and develop some common middle ground, it will just be another polarizing problem of which there are already too many in our country.....
  6. I am humbled by your praise. A follow-up is still in the future but my outline keeps changing so it will be a while...
  7. Happy Birthday! & Many, many more!
  8. The ability to read each other's thoughts and see whether they are true does take a bit of the mystery out of it....
  9. The ending completes a circle, so reading it first may not answer any of your questions....
  10. Thanks for your kind words. I hope you can get back to it when time allows!
  11. I love it when readers try to envision scenarios...you will just have to wait and see if your idea pans out.

Thanks Jim. I hope you enjoy it.

    Chapter 7

Jim Read the first 7 chapters today and enjoyed them all. Jeff, the princess, Paul, and the rest of the cast of characters all have personalities and it feels already as if we know them. Now if we can just figure out the culprit who set the fire, all would be good... Looking forward to the next installment. DDK

Great chapter! Loved CJ's comments to the Senator. Ritchie moving to DC is another big adjustment...Good thing he has a support network.
  15. New Orleans is one of my favorite places. Maybe you could check in with Robert Rex....

Ethan is definitely part of the pack now.

    Chapter 43

Outside of Dally and Nola the entire family doesn't seem worth knowing. Maria and Steff's remarks about their encounter, if on the mark, could lead to some real solid info in what has been mostly speculation so far. But no, it couldn't be easy.... More please!

It is too soon to say that Ritchie is processing and coming to terms with his loss. The dads are right about counseling. I still wonder about CJ. The party and the next morning were interesting in several ways. Ethan displayed real maturity in apologizing. Owen showed loyalty as did Ritchie. CJ's restraint and willingness to give Ethan a second chance demonstrates personal growth. Kudos!
  19. I've waited and thought about what I could add to the discussion and the one thing that keeps coming back to me is when I learned my brother-in-law told me he had cancer. He never smoked, rarely drank and ate healthy and exercised his entire life when he was diagnosed with stage four cancer of the common bile duct and given 3 to 6 months to live. He told me, "we all have a death sentence and I intend to live my life until my time is up and it's up to God and not some doctor." He did his research and sought the best medical help and lived four years after his diagnosis. He got to take my sister back to Hawaii for their fortieth wedding anniversary and was at peace that he'd lived his life to the fullest. Keep on keeping on and don't let this prognosis limit your dreams!
  20. Just a thought: An interesting conclusion and perhaps a bit sexist? Granger would rather be out at sea pursuing his quarry 'honestly' than having to deal with the dirty work of politics which he is leaving mostly to his spouse... I wonder if there might be a lesson there for the present time? An interesting finish to another book in the Granger series. Thanks!
  21. Happy Birthday Hunter! & Many, many more!

How sad! Somehow I suspect Ritchie will be in DC sooner rather than later. Also another issue for CJ with his unresolved issues with his mom and step father which are forever forestalled.
