  1. But none of this really matters for Scottish voters when Braveheart is being shown every day or so to keep their blood up... The Scots will always be a separate people because the want to be. With their limited self-government that they have now, politically, it will continue to be so. Complete separation from the UK appears to be a boon for the wealthy, but the average Scot is thrifty for a reason and it's not because they are so affluent.
  2. Mark is letting his dad define him as a success or failure and that is probably a huge source of his putting off going to school. Hopefully Trey can help Mark define success for himself.

    Chapter 76

Matt going to his parents house. Wade and family going to Virginia. Will, Gathan and Zach heading to Claremont after the game. Zach being held out of the game for so long and then coming in to spark a win was a nice touch. Gathan having some new found respect for his pesky little brother was nice too. Frank and Isodore moving to take in Zach when he transfers out west is a surprise and one that will definitely affect JP's household at Escorial. More please.
  4. Yeah, but you are still young, hung and walk around with a hardon at the drop of a glance...Older guys are more into planning, cuddling and going into things a little slower and making it last. So I suspect the target audience was the over 25 crowd.
  5. Thanks for all the kind wishes. He at least finally called his mother today. I think he is too ashamed to talk to me. Life has many hardships and I usually don't complain, except about the weather!

    Chapter 75

9.11 is winding down and now even I can see it. Thanksgiving in Claremont instead of heading off to Hawaii after the game. Say it ain't so! Wade stating he no longer is in love with Matt was expected but still somewhat of a shock. Especially for Matt who appears not to have a clue as to the change in Wade's feelings. I sincerely hope the next book in the saga doesn't jump too far ahead!
  7. Thanks JoAnn! I always try to stay upbeat and hopeful but this really has me down. I have cried an ocean and feel I have a few more oceans of tears to go.
  8. Not a very happy Valentine's day. The weather sucks. Not just here in the America, but generally, except perhaps in Sochi. My son has finally admitted he is a complete fuck-up and has broken his mother's heart. He has been a financial and emotional drain for almost all of his adult life. It started when he was just eighteen and just out of highschool when he decided he just had to get married to a seventeen year old highschool dropout. She was a bitch from hell. Devious, controlling, narrow minded, prejudiced against almost everyone and spiteful. She gave my son ten years of hell before he finally broke free of her. Thankfully there were no children. However, he was already ruined. He had learned all her bad ways of mishandling money and credit and of being a person who never did more than the minimum to get by and was unashamed to borrow and never pay back from any and all. My son who was an Eagle Scout as a teenager had become little more than a bum. They experimented with drugs. He has an addictive personality and been addicted to tobacco since he was fifteen. I tried to explain that he was easily addicted and to avoid experimenting as he could easily get out of control. His response was to conceal it from us. He also got into going to the casinos and gambling. At thirty-four I worry that he will suicide. As it is, it appears he is doing just that in slow motion as I doubt he will make it to age forty. He has recurring bouts of very bad bronchitis which smoking worsens. We seldom see him. Only once or twice a month and then it's usually because he needs money. He always has a story and his mother always wanting to believe the best hands over cash for his "emergencies". Now it seems he is abandoning the area and moving a couple of states away and wasn't even planning on telling us. The sweet laughing boy of his youth is just a memory for us and we are mourning our child.

    Part 33

A lovely chapter, everything going smoothly and then the "oh shit" moment! Iarwain really knows how to stir the pot....
  10. More unusual rain and cold in one place means warmer and dryer than normal conditions in another and that is exactly what we have. Alaska is experiencing the warmest winter in years....
  11. I loved it. As far as the facial hair, with all the winter we've experienced this season, I can certainly see it gaining in popularity.

    Chapter 74

Two thumbs up as usual. It was very nice to get JJ's POV and listen to what is going on in his mind. The interaction with Zach (punching bag routine) was very well done and the nicest surprise was Brad backing off and letting the boys deal with it. Frank backing Zach on the phone to Wally was great and his final comment about a credit card was spot on and I'm sure will resonate.
  13. As in all relationships, face time is important. Parents want it and need it too!
  14. http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/qwerty.htm Being bored at times is part of most job descriptions, isn't it?
  15. With the dreary damp weather this winter in southern England, seeing hot guys in speedos has to be something that most Londoners appreciate!
  16. Do Do they want it or are they being sold it with nationalistic calls to half remembered glory by slick adverts from moneyed interests who are only thinking of themselves? Mass marketing works and not always for the best.
  17. As an American, it sounds like secession to me and we fought a Civil War over that which cost us way too much. Since I don't get a vote, my opinion isn't worth much but would either England or Scotland be better off separated? It sort of looks like the rich in Scotland might be better off, but would the working class or poor? Scotland's population is only 5.3 million. It covers about 30,000 square miles with not the best vacation climate or building sites. It's got a wild beauty but it is a solitary one. It looks like it would be a third world country economically. Is that what the people really want?
  18. As far back as I can remember a separate game, which was the winter Olympics in 1960 at Squaw Valley and Tahoe, there has been complaints about the judging in figure skating, pairs figure skating and later ice dancing. It has always been subjective. New jumps would be performed and judges would mark a performer or a couple down because it wasn't a regular known and named combination. Doubles, then triples and now quads are performed. The performers have always pushed the envelope with the judges usually at least four years behind the times. With modern stop action and super slow motion cameras, we as an audience can actually see the intricate movements performed in all their beauty or in some cases sloppiness. Jumps, triple toe loops, synchronization and timing are indeed much better than even thirty or forty years ago all the while presenting a smooth almost ballet like line. So the sport is more of an art, harder to judge and difficult to judge consistently. It is still some of the most compelling visuals from the games and I think it would be a shame if it were hounded out of the Olympics.
  19. Over the past 12 hours Mark's story 9.11 surpassed Paternity to become the most reviewed story on GA. Congrats to Mark Arbour! Here is the link to the most reviewed stories: https://www.gayauthors.org/stories/top/reviewed
  20. "There are so many different ways that this story can go and there seems to be way too much to wrap up in the remaining several chapters...." I've learned never to underestimate Mark Arbour's ability to spin a yarn.
  21. The New York Times has the full story which can be found at the following link: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/10/sports/michael-sam-college-football-star-says-he-is-gay-ahead-of-nfl-draft.html?hp
  22. I second everything Trebs said!

    Chapter 73

Will apologizing to Frank and inviting him and Grandmamam was so Will. He has his outburst and then thinks about the people he loves and has to immediately make it right. Just like he has apologized in the past to JP and Steff. JJ is a worry and it could be a tough trip for him. At least he has lots of family around. As usual! Thanks for the surprise post. Your legion of fans appreciate everything you do!
  24. Wow. This is going to be so difficult. OH! And Congratulations to all the nominees! You all provided us with wonderful stories and hours of reading enjoyment! Thank You! DDK
