    Chapter 4

Wow! I'm loving every little surprise! More please!
  2. Baseball is not a game you immediately get and understand or appreciate. Growing up in a baseball culture or watching your kids graduate from t-ball to peewee baseball to little league etc gives you a whole new understanding of the dynamics of what it takes to make a major league baseball player and the dedication it takes to get and stay in shape and play over a long season year after year. It take a mental toughness to stand in a small box and let someone through a hardball at you at a velocity of nearly 100 miles and hour. Beating it with a bat and laying it down where it is hard to play or up over the infield but too far in for the outfield, or somewhere in the corner where the outfielders can't get it is their goal depending on their hitting style and ability. The long ball out of the park takes just the right pitch, hit at just the right millisecond in space with just the right amount of force against just the right part of the bat. That's not something that you can learn except by doing and having exceptional hand and eye coordination.
  3. I agree with most of the above except the last part. You can never start over at square one and why would you want to or need to. They can't change the past, but they can't forget it either and remain close. Their shared experiences both good and bad are part of what has shaped them and made them grow. The past has to be synthesized and processed in order to be put to rest. Not ignored or forgotten. I think that Wade and Matt probably do need some time apart to truly appreciate what the other means to them. If it was meant to be that they get back together, they will make it so. Or they may blow the opportunity entirely somewhere down the road. But life is full of chances and everyone has to live their own life. Wade deciding that he needs to concentrate on his life without the distraction of Matt is Wade being true to Wade and I can't fault him for that. People do that all the time.

    Chapter 11

Wow! Jonas referred to Opie as Opie and got away with it---so far. The ring was neat. And sad. There is a pathos to this story that is more than a little sad. More please!
  5. I'm a baseball fan first. Major League Baseball as played by my St. Louis Cardinals. I'm a football fan too and hate to watch my National Football League St. Louis Rams lose I also like to watch my NCAA SEC Mizzou Tigers play and win! I'm an occasional hockey fan too and love to watch my National Hockey League Blues win. I'm a college basketball fan and love to watch my NCAA St. Louis Bilikens or Mizzou Tigers play. It it came to a choice between the World Cup (football/soccer) and World Series (Baseball), I'd definitely choose baseball. GO CARDS!
  6. I hope there is an after-life and he gets a very warm (think burning) welcome!
  7. Oh ye of little faith. What could go possibly go wrong?
  8. Hold your socks. This just in: Johnny Weir files for divorce! http://celebrity.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-news/johnny-weir-files-for-divorce-from-husband-of-two-years-230701813.html
  9. Wade sees Matt as too much like Robbie and he doesn't want a rollercoaster relationship. Matt seems convinced that Wade will not change his mind. Matt volunteering to accompany Zach and Will was very cool and gives us a peek at where the next couple of chapters may focus. Where will they travel? My guess is Ireland and Europe!
  10. For the younger millenials, Mercedes Lackey, Terry Goodkind , Roger Zelazny and Katherine Kurtz should be on everyone's fantasy must read list. While Harry Potter and Tolkien's Ring cycle are more famous, they can also be somewhat more challenging and if you are looking for some fun reads, Zelazny and Lackey can't be beat!
  11. New question: Why do we want to become educated? It's a mystery, that's why. My definition of educated is acquiring the ability to decipher the what, how, why, when and where of facts, ideas, processes and intentions of others. The why flows naturally and it is so we can make some sense of it all or have some illusion of control. At least that is what I have learned in the school of hard knocks which is also called living.....
  12. My dad loved to fish too!

    Terrible Twos

    Onesie

Two men and a baby boy. Good hook and good first chapter.
  17. If we are going to talk about being rich, I never wanted to have a ton of money. Too much bother, responsibility and a pain in the ass. I always wanted to be comfortable, afford most of what I want and to be able to provide for my family. I basically accomplished that and therefore consider myself rich in all the ways that count.

    Winter Storm

Thanks for sharing this story. It was a nice change from all the teenage angst stories.
  19. A very compelling story. Well written and imaginatively told!
  20. Make that initially turned down.... The finger reference Brad and Stefan's love and blood brother deal was a very sweet final touch in a very sweet chapter IMHO. As far as Tony not thinking, IMHO he hasn't done much of that throughout the story, except with his dick.
  21. Not just guessing, but twisting in the wind sometimes too!
  22. I got my bachelors degree in psychology more than forty years ago. I've been enrolled in the school of hard knocks for over sixty years and it's an ongoing education. I worked in government for more than thirty years and taught my specific job to others on and off for more than fifteen years and did lot's of traveling. I've found that learning is an ongoing process and anyone who thinks they are finished is dead, or might as well be.

    Chapter 5

The finger thing with Stef took me right back to Brad's youth and I think it was the sweetest thing of all in very sweet chapter. As usual!

    Chapter 3

Granger's description of Hornblower was modest. However, his description of Major Treadway was way more sexy and he plays the flute....and his men all play too. The arrival of the men from the abbey and the anticipated arrival of the marines means things are moving along. As always, interesting. More please!
