    Chapter 2

Poor Parker, he is so going to get it....
  2. Happy Birthday Jack Scribe! & here's wishing for some more stories!
  3. From what I read, he was so unassuming that he didn't crave the accolades, he just wanted to do his work and when he lost his security clearance he was denied doing anything meaningful thereafter. That is the pity as he was really gifted. While it is true that there is some controversy as to whether it was a suicide, there was evidence of cyanide causing death.
  4. Mark is out of town, on winter break, between semesters so I think that unless he had a chapter in the pipeline ready for his editor and betas that we might have to wait a while. But then like you I am always hopeful for a pleasant surprise.
  5. I tend to agree with RJO's thought above about Matt and Wade. Again I see parallels between what they are experiencing and what Brad and Robbie went through, (while in college) just not yet as dramatic....

    Chapter 61

Arbour delivers! It was nice to get back from midnight church service and have a new chapter waiting! Thanks! Merry, merry!
  7. Arizona for the holidays and then going to the Cotton Bowl--you must have done something right. It was 5 degrees in West County this morning and right now (10:30 pm CST) it's 21 and it feels like 11 degrees F. Your writing brought me to GA and I am indebted to you for that and your continued output. Happy holidays to you and your family and friends. Enjoy! P.S. It's late Christmas morning and it occurred to me that I failed to thank your incredible team for the support and help they provide so that we get to enjoy the polished product you produce. So here's a big shoutout to Sharon, Jeremy, Westie, George, Foster, Tiger, JCashell and Daisy139 too!
  8. For a funny song how about: I Yust go nuts for Christmas, by Yogi Yorgesson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFuMjg-oVsk
  9. I don't see Will acting without compassion for Ethan. I see Will slightly put off because Ethan has rebuffed his every attempt to be nice and show him around. Ethan is clearly not interested in being nice for or to his family unless he is called on it by someone whom he assumes has stature, e.g. Nana. I don't think Ethan is stupid and he recognized that his being rude or crude was not going to be ignored by Wade's granny. So while Will like the rest voiced his complaints about the lack of manners, I don't see where we can pick on him and single him out for some supposed lack of compassion. I think all the boys have respect for sitting JP and Isodore's table and they were somewhat shocked by Ethan. Of course as I've said before, some of that shitty behavior may have been calculated. Ethan has been shuffled out of sight for years and now he is invited out into public and he isn't supposed to act out or have any resentment, even unconscious resentment?
  10. I read of this on the NBC news website and then went and looked at the report on the BBC site as well. I then turned to this forum and saw the topic had already been posted. Mr. Turing was certainly one of the most accomplished persons of the twentieth century. While we lament that this man was driven to suicide as a result of the conviction for a 'crime' under the mores of the day, we have to realize we live in an imperfect world that changes more slowly than we like at times and too fast at others. In many ways we have the advantage of 59 years of hindsight. In other ways we are still blind to present day short-comings. After reading the various articles, it does seem that the pardon was deemed important and therefore commendable. That only three such 'mercy pardons' have been granted since 1945 says something about its importance as well. While we can't change the past, it is important that we learn from it and that the lesson is not forgotten. As to the wholesale, pardoning of all those convicted of homosexuality, that is beyond the scope of the crown and perhaps would be more the province of Parliament. I suspect that at least some were convicted of more than just being homosexual but also aggravating crimes as well including child molestation, rape, and other assorted crimes which are still criminal offences.
  11. If folklore had no allure for humans, then the whole array of mythical literature would never exist. No Harry Potter. No Hobbit and LOTR. No Grimm Fairy Tales. No Zelazny's Nine Princes of Amber series. It boggles the mind to think what would have never been. So the fact that a remote island set in the far north filled with lava flows, volcanoes, and cold has a strong folklore history about elves or the 'hidden folk' is neither surprising or unbelievable.
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
  13. Well that was a hot way to end my day! Loved the ending. More please!
  14. In his review of chapter 60 Tim wrote: "This chapter was so good, I didn't think of awful ways for Tony to die once! (okay, well maybe once.... but for sure not twice!) :P" And I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair!

    Chapter 60

The neat thing about this story is that it shows a parallel in how Wade and Matt's relationship has its ups and downs just like Brad and Robbie's did. Brad's description of his time in Ohio was a nice change from his reception in Connecticut and he even got to put a shrew in her place with his comment about having family to support him. Will and the rest are finding it difficult to deal with Ethan and I suspect that Ethan is being something of a little shit on purpose. And that is not surprising given how he was secreted away and kept separate from his family. Funny in that it seems he met his match in his dad's mother-in-law.... Nana rocks! as usual.
  16. Sounds like they are trying to censor and would lose if taken to court here in the U.S.
  17. While I am not a big fan of rap music, I found the clip featuring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake performing The History of Rap (in four parts all included) to be energetic, funny and totally captivating. These guys know how to have fun together and put on a good show. The clip was featured in a story on nbcnews.com and Today. Here is a link to the story: http://www.today.com/entertainment/forget-sexyback-jimmy-fallon-justin-timberlake-bring-old-school-comedy-2D11774210 Here's a link to the Youtube video:
  18. Fun but don't think for a minute that it's not a product of special effects. It didn't actually happen. http://redalertpolitics.com/2013/12/19/watch-and-now-we-cut-to-chuck-norris-doing-the-splits-between-two-airplanes/
  19. In line with what Zombie wrote here's something from the US POV: "With respect to India, for the fiscal year 2014, the State Department request is $91 million. This represents a 16 per cent decrease from the fiscal levels 2012 (the previous actual spending)," said a senior State Department official. This is in continuation of the trend that has emerged over the past few years. In 2010, the United States aid to India was $126.7 million, which dropped to $121.6 million in 2011 and $108 million in 2012. The proposed aid is $98.3 million in the current fiscal of 2013, which ends on September 30.
  20. The following image/link shows something I found a little profound. It is a map of the world with a small circle around the part that is home to more than half of the earth's human inhabitants. It was on the Washington Post website today:

    Hangover

Now that was just the sweetest chapter. And for Mikeal's sake I'm glad that Adam is mature enough to tell him the truth. Great job.

    Chapter 59

Will wants Tony to get over Rick, but somehow I don't see that happening. Brad is able to distract himself with work which is a good thing. Mendoza...... as usual!
  23. I was raised in a family where all kinds of music was appreciated. My mom loves "Make the world go away".
  24. It looks like George may be in jolly old England for a while.... An interesting chapter with another storm delaying his return and giving him time to parse the words and actions of Calvert. Well done. The story is still "in process" so I am wishing for perhaps another chapter during Christmas week and perhaps an epilogue for New Years. Just my wishes!
  25. I eat meat. However, I haven't hunted in more than forty years. Somehow after my tour in the military, hunting lost it's appeal. I don't have any qualms about eating meat slaughtered by others. Life is messy and you must learn to live with ambiguity. If this is the most morally pressing question, anyone faces, then they have had it easy.
