Somehow, I think Wade should have anticipated Carl's response to being outed....but hey we all make mistakes! The adrenalin fuck with Gathan was intense. Matt was clued in and realizes their relationship is not threatened. Nana is still a hoot and the news about the divorce was not shocking. Elizabeth's hiding in the bottle is contemptible but then it is Elizabeth. Nice job and unexpected pleasure getting the chapter early! Thanks! As usual two thumbs up!

Wade's plan to free his grandmother and get back at his mother is accomplished. Whatever Senator Danfield planned for later in the week may now be a moot point, but then again, Mark usually finds some novel way to twist the skewer, so there maybe more. Dare I say I wonder what Will is up to?

Trevor and Shane have finally realized that they can trust no one. Hopefully, their plan results in a positive outcome. At least it seems they have changed course and are not still heading for the Panama Canal! -
Nice to see Nana's competency restored. Unfortunately, she will never be truly free from her scheming daughter and will have to be vigilant as I somehow doubt Elizabeth Danfield is completely down and out. Wade won this round, but like his grandma, he is stuck with his mother. I still wonder what Senator Danfield's planned visit is about? Another chapter really well done!

I liked the latest chapter which described the political problem Granger is facing and the problem with conclusive evidence as so adroitly pointed out by de Colma who did not deny the problem existed. His point of view was to leave things as they currently exist and that the problem needs to be worked on at the ends rather than in the middle which while expected, is unsatisfying from George's perspective. While he may not be able to quash the problem in Rio, it would be nice, as I said in the review, if Granger were able to enable the pompous asses to publicly fall on them.

Money really does make the world go round and has for a very long time. The gist of the problem is just as da Colma summarized it, the evidence is not conclusive unless the contraband is found inbound to France or Spain. However, the viceroy and the English consul are two pimples that need popping and perhaps Granger can figure out a way to socially lance them and still leave them in situ. (And perhaps just a tad bit less full of themselves.) Ok, that's a tall order that the author may avoid, but it would be nice to see the pompous asses fall on them.

Why do I keep thinking about the Senator's planned visit at the end of the week? I must assume you have some more surprises planned that may not be to the liking of Elizabeth Danfield. Two thumbs-up for the writing, plot and characterizations and also thanks to your beta readers and editors for the help they provide! Your fans have much for which to be truly thankful! DDK

Greed is part of the human condition and it seems some are always more driven by it than others. I expect our hero will come up with a novel solution to the Rio problem and still have to deal with more problems in the Indies. It is after all an Odyssey, an adventure filled with problems to surmount. Good job!

The great escape results in all out war between Wade and his mother Elizabeth. Nana sure seems to be competent, but convincing a court, dealing with a different court's jurisdiction, a legal guardian with a lot of money and political clout as well is not a done deal. The meds will be the key along with expert testimony of a psychiatrist with impeccable credentials. Another interesting chapter from Wade's POV.

It appears the almost loutish sir malcolm may be about to lose his job. I wonder if he will have to scrounge his way back to London? We still do not know full account of the secret orders and I would not be surprised to learn that further intrigue is about to be revealed.
