End of life issues are always difficult. Your mom has had a really difficult time and you both have my sympathy. I too will be thinking of you and your mom. Hugs. DDK

Given there are billions of people alive today and billions more who have passed on, I bet that romantic love at first sight has actually happened more often than skeptics would believe. The love parent's have for their children is usually at first sight and it's a good thing. I only personally know of one person who "fell in love" at first sight of her husband and she worked five years to land him. They are now married for more than forty years. To this day he claims he didn't care for his wife the first several times they met and he certainly never expected to marry her, but as he got to know her, he came to appreciate her many talents, witty personality and her being really good with money. She is a fabulous cook, expert homemaker and wonderful mother and grandmother as well as being a very devoted wife.

I think the story illustrates its point just enough. For those who don't get it, you haven't really lived enough. Experience or death will fix that.

I found the following story inspiring. Especially in our present consumer culture which pushes the acquisition of more and more and the latest and greatest no matter the social, economic or ecological cost. Recently I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.' The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.' They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?' 'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'.. 'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said. 'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough..' May I ask what that means?' He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone...' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory. I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting. I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye. He then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them. TAKE TIME TO LIVE.... To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

Intrigue has re-entered the story with secret orders and an evident side mission to Rio. The British consul has also been summoned. I wonder what surprise Mr. Arbour has concocted for us? A very quick read. Good job.

Brickbrain. Ok, not as catchy as I was expecting, but it fits. Point Nemo caught my curiosity and I came up with this site that also has a map plotting the point. Through Mark's stories available in his Yahoo group I came to learn of GA and joined in 2009. He is still my absolute favorite author.

Your dad was a special man. Wisdom doesn't always come with age or experience, but your dad embodied it. From other things you have written, you were a very lucky girl to have wise, thoughtful, caring and loving parents. Hopefully, the lessons you learned, you are passing on to your family. Thanks for passing this on to your GA family.

Whether elder abuse could be legally proven is irrevelent; the clear implication from the story is that Elizabeth keeps her mother over medicated and in a nursing home so that the estate can be controlled. Wade's handling of that along with the shennagins his mother plans to use on him about the land deal should be interesting. It would be satisfying to not only see him turn her riposte aside but for him to counter, wresting control of his grandmother's estate from his mother. Just speculating.....

What an interesting chapter, filled with surprises and tantalizing little tidbits. It seems that Elizabeth Danfield has managed to piss off and piss on just about everyone in her family. That she may be keeping her own mother drugged is nothing less than shocking. Wade is resourceful and it should be interesting to see how he digs out the facts on this as well as dealing with his mother's machinations against him. The earlier part of the chapter involving Wade's conversation with JP was insightful as well and certainly made Wade think about things as well. Well done! As usual, another compelling chapter.

As a parent of an active, inquisitive teenager, you don't get those moments often! Thank heavens you have an active imagination.....

Bridget is nervous and hopefully as the cartel begins to become aware that she has not solved the "problem" which she already promised that it was solved, they will begin to make her life a little more intense. Just wishin'!

That damn intermittent transmitter that Gray has on Trevor's cat is a royal pain.... Thankfully, the witche's assasins should arrive too late if Trev and Shane get out of Whatever and New Zealand as soon as they are supposed to. Still, so many loose ends to tie up. On the writing. Can't wait until next week....

Kindness and acceptance are so positive. Small minds, prejudice and callousness are so cold. Joann, we know now from whom you get your warm caring nature.

A lot of thought and work went into this chapter and it shows. Good job. The quest to stop Hartley is firmly established. Shay's "gift" is better understood, but I still don't think he really knows how to control it. Mira, the miracle product of the gift twice given is still mostly an enigma. However, his love of Shay is absolute and constant. Can't wait for some more!

Giants Win! It took 10 innings but the Giants sweep winning tonight 4-3.

The discussion and point made just above is a good example of constructive criticism. Even elite authors can get into a zone where they know what they want to say and think they have, but it doesn't quite make it. Editors too apparently get so inside their author's head that stuff like this gets by them. That's why the site recommends editors and beta readers and even so; sentences can get garbled. In Mark's defense, his legion of faithful fans are usually also quite in tune with what he thinks and most just passed that example by without any notice. And IMHO, understood it nearly as well as Sharon.

10-27-12 Giants win game 3 by the score of 2-0 and are up 3 games to none! Matt Cain starts tomorrow. It could be over.

Poor Jeanine, suffering from mental illness and part of her family acts so dependent on her that they have to pile on and give her more to be upset about while still not in a stable place. The fact that Will has thought things through more than his brothers or Robbie speaks volumes.

Giants win 2-0 playing small ball tonight and are up 2-0 in the series. With the travel day, the Giants can get their usual pitching rotation back. On the other side, Detroit has been awesome at home....
