  1. This song partly inspired my summer anthology entry Scenes From Hugo: Dancing With Tears In My Eyes by Ultravox Dancing with tears in my eyes Weeping for the memory of a life gone by Dancing with tears in my eyes Living out a memory of a love that died It's five and I'm driving home again It's hard to believe that it's my last time The man on the wireless cries again It's over, it's over Dancing with tears in my eyes Weeping for the memory of a life gone by Dancing with tears in my eyes Living out a memory of a love that died It's late and I'm with my love alone We drink to forget the coming storm We love to the sound of our favourite song Over and over Dancing with tears in my eyes Weeping for the memory of a life gone by Dancing with tears in my eyes Living out a memory of a love that died It's time and we're in each other's arms It's time but I don't think we really care Dancing with tears in my eyes Weeping for the memory of a life gone by Dancing with tears in my eyes Living out a memory of a love that died Dancing with tears in my eyes Weeping for the memory of a life gone by Dancing with tears in my eyes
  2. Actually, it's 20 for me, not 23. I think that might still land me in the top four, though.
  3. Didn't take long for someone to take my title.
  4. We'll be celebrating our 19th anniversary in June, and will have been together 20 years at that point.
  5. Usually the characters make themselves known to me, and then eventually I start to imagine the scenes. The characters mostly appear gradually, but one of them came to me very suddenly and vividly in a dream. The scenes usually play out for me while I'm doing cardio. It's almost a trancelike state, and I often lose blocks of time. Daydreaming is the easy part. Actually sitting down and typing it out is another thing entirely. It's hard for me to get back in that 'zone' sometimes.
  6. They included Andy Bell! The slideshow below that one, When It Was Out To Be Out, is also really interesting and informative. ComeWhatMay, Elton John is #24 on the Openly Gay Celebs slideshow. The original link is to More Openly Gay Celebs, so it's actually the 2nd part.
  7. I totally called it last night. Before Danny came on, I said to my husband, "Which will it be, Erasure, Culture Club, or Soft Cell?" Then we both screamed when "Tainted Love" started up. I'm really not a kid person, but I want to adopt Danny.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Erasure used fan footage to make their video for "I Could Fall In Love With You", and my husband and I were lucky enough to have our photo chosen. It's only up for a split second, but I was thrilled to have gotten in. It's a cute video, with a good variety of couples, both straight and gay: Another favorite, Swedish glam band The Ark. I love the outfit he comes out in at about 1:40 (what little of it there is). Scissor Sisters bizarre and brilliant video for "She's My Man". This was done in a style of Japanese puppetry that gives the illusion that camera angles are changing, but it was actually done in one take with no perspective changes at all:
  10. I can't believe I forgot the first and most obvious one - the coming out anthem "Hideaway".
  11. Erasure- "Boy" Andy Bell (Lead singer of Erasure)- "Caught In a Spin" The Ark- "Father of a Son" and "The Others" Bronski Beat- "Why?", "Smalltown Boy", "For A Friend" Some other artists, although I can't think of specific songs: Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell/Marc Almond, The Communards/Jimmy Somerville (he was also lead singer of Bronski Beat), Pansy Division (a gay punk band), Scissor Sisters. Cover songs with a gay twist: Erasure- "Walking In The Rain", "Gimme Gimme Gimme" Mark Weigle "867-5309/Jimmy" Jimmy Somerville & Marc Almond- "I Feel Love/Johnny Remember Me"
  12. I've taken versions of this test before, and almost always come up INFJ, but this particular one said INTJ. It's very close between the T and F, but I'm always a strongly expressed introvert and intuitive personality.
  13. I knew somebody was going to say that. Most of them, really. But if I had to pick one, it's whatever accent Sir Anthony Dowell has. Maybe that's the "BBC accent" you're referring to. I've also heard it called the "posh" accent.
  14. I voted other- English. Russian would be a close second.
  15. My husband ordered one already, but they're on backorder, so it will be awhile til it gets here. We'll probably mostly use it for travel, and not as a substitute for real books. I think he wants to put all of his favorites on it just so they're all easily accessible when he's not home. It's not something I feel like I have to have, but it might be cool.
  16. Same here. I would be satisfied with just that part, even if I continued to appear to age.
  17. Sounds like a great idea to me!

    Doctors visit

I hope you were able to get some peace of mind from your appointment today (Wed.), and that you'll have an update soon. I know waiting is the worst. Take care!
  19. I saw the opposite. She started out CCW and changed to CW for me. BTW, most skaters actually turn CCW, but a small percentage goes CW. No one is really sure what determines it. It's just a myth that lefthanders turn CW. I'm a right-handed CW skater, as is my idol Toller Cranston. I've also heard it's related to eye dominance, which might be true.
  20. Ha, you beat me to it by one minute.
  21. J.K. Rowling just outed Dumbledore: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=3754341
  22. Oh, I think you'll love it. The movie was good, but it's so much better in person. I didn't see it on Broadway, but I saw the touring company. Make sure you bring lots of tissues!
  23. Happy birthday, Robert! Hope you have a wonderful day.
  24. This post brought back memories for me. In high school, I had a pen pal from India, who once sent me one of those, and explained the holiday to me. We had an interesting correspondence for several years. We lost touch a long time ago, but I sometimes wonder what happened to him.
  25. Thanks, everyone! (Although the way you put it sounds a little scary,Vic!)
