  1. rapture.dll not found <do you have your windows CD?> <of course you don't, we don't let you have them>
  2. 9 times out of 10, it's the motherboard, NOT the CPU. Intel and AMD do a very good job with quality control. I've repaired of thousands of desktop systems and can only blame the CPU in a couple of instances in heavily modified PCs where the cooling system failed. Hard ware problems always seem to relate to heat somehow. The number one hardware failure is the power supply. Many times they do not fail gracefully and fry something else. Number two- motherboards. As everything is built into the motherboard these days, any failure in the most complex part of the system is fatal. Number 3- hard drives. They are so much better now than they were just a few years ago. Number 4- RAM very rarely goes bad unless its mishandled. Way down at the bottom of the list are CPU chips. They just don't fail unless you cook them.
  3. See how God is managing The Rapture
  4. In years past the only exposure the gay community got was a few seconds of film of the freakiest people in a Pride Parade. Any time the gay community was mentioned, they played the file tape of Sister Boom-Boom and the Order of Perpetual Indulgence. Just enough exposure to marginalize and mislead.
  5. The Rapture is scheduled for Saturday, May 21. Of course it was scheduled for 2010, 2009, 1988 and 1977... Don't miss out on the best Post-Rapture Looting. Have your loot bag and burglary tools ready tonight! --------- Correction: It's supposed to happen May 21. Post-Rapture looting will begin immediately afterwards.
  6. Happy birthday Myr. I pass along greetings from the four cats of the Apocalypse: Cat-tastrophe, Cataclysim, Catty-whumpus and Cat-a-tonic.
  7. The idea is that if you are prepared for a zombie apocalypse, a hurricane or tornado is easy.
  8. I wanted to be a naval officer. Something about being in charge of a ship full of seamen appealed to me.
  9. All of the disasters that Mississippi has had to deal with in recent years has left us a bit punchy. This is the flood marks on the wall at Vicksburg- this one should top them all. This has had people busy sandbagging and reinforcing levees. Needless to say nobody is happy about it. This little guys father's farm is sunk. One of the hazards that floods bring is current. It can undermine roads and foundations. In this case a levee is being over-topped. The action of the water can erode the damn and make it fail. Animals suffer from the flood. This raccoon has decided this bird feeder is for him. Because of the floods people are seeing animals that are ordinarily very elusive. Foxes are almost never seen in the daylight in this area.
  10. This whole thread sounds like there are more issues than financial between parents and their adult children.
  11. I find the generalizations about the various generations nauseating. There are irresponsible people in every generation.

  17. The most frightening thing I can think of: We're from the government and we're here to help. That one gives me chills every time.
  18. A law was passed in the 70s that banned tobacco advertising on TV. Back in the day tobacco advertising was everywhere. They even sponsored little league teams. When the ban went into place, it hurt the television networks and charities particularly hard. It was hard to find new sponsors with deep pockets. Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished.
  19. The Internet evolved from from research done by ARPA (Armed Forces Advanced Research Agency) during the 50s and 60s. The idea was to build a wide area data network that was redundant and survivable if large parts of it got nuked. The Web as we know it now was born by researchers working in hypertext- specifically at CERN around 1990. Yes- it's possible to loose large parts of the Internet. No- it's not going to die because it is redundant and survivable. Over the last few decades millions of miles of fiber cable has been run in the United States alone. Now there are hundreds of alternate paths to get from any one city to another.
  20. Don't mistake acting like a jackass for socially acceptable. To klansmen, being hyper-racist is socially acceptable to other klansmen. Most people see the behavior as douche-baggery. Same logic applies to a bunch of dumbass kids in a car driving around yelling at people. The only people that see it as acceptable are the jerks in the car.
  21. not really- it's big, it's loud, it runs over cars and houses and it shoots through schools

You might be surprised as some of the themes have remained the same.
