Hey, I'm Barack Obama...the Muslim?
JamesSavik commented on NickolasJames8's blog entry in Read my blog
This is one of Obama's MINOR problems. So far he's made a lot of promises, about 3.3 trillion dollars worth, and has discussed no plan or scheme on how to deliver. I guess we're supposed to HOPE he has a plan? -
"Sleepless" Mutation Found Responsible for Insomnia This explains a lot.

I guess Meeko is afraid that anything he sez will jinx the thing. Gook luck bro!

I hope that it goes very well for you Robbie. Of course, it's my hope that the coming out process goes well for everyone but I'm biased towards our GA homeboyz. There are a number of you that showed up here at GA in their late teens and are now in college. You guys "grew up" here and have "brothers" (your peers), mentors like CJ and Kevin and a crazy Uncle James who would very merrily knee cap anyone who messes with 'da familiy.

Sumbloke turned me on to the CSU a couple of years ago. I'm a big sci-fi fan(atic). I like the international flavor that the CSU has: Brits and Aussies and Yanks, OH MY!

You can't come to Mississippi. We're still closed for rennovations after Katrina. Come back in 2010.

South Carolina doesn't want gay tourists I'll keep that in mind.

Description is supposed to be like painting a picture but in fiction writing, photo-realism is unnecessary. A vital component is the readers imagination which will fill in the blanks better than you ever could.

It'll be a while before I get to the punk bands but the Clash and Sex Pistols have gotta be covered. The eighties bands will be a while- I'm still in the sixties and seventies.

here is the paper by Dame and Thaddeus that announces the discovery of the far 3-Kpc Arm.

OK pal, they're in the pipe. Can't say how soon but won't be too long. I'm just finishing off the Who. I'll be posting it this afternoon or tomorrow. I may do a couple of short ones to catch my breath. Classic Rock Profiles
-
I'm listening to the Who- my next installment on Classic Rock Profiles. The latest published profile is Led Zeppelin, parts 1 and 2.
-
Led Zeppelin part 2 is up! Check it out at Classic Rock Profiles Next week: the Who Remember that this is a labor of love for me so be sure to look in from time to time for special surprises. I'm using blogspot as it is more powerful and allows for more images per post.

I do a number of things to protect my customers. I have an electrician that I work with and when I start working at a job site. #1- install a dedicated circuit to network ops center test all outlets are wired and grounded properly- old AND new. Install special fast blow fuses on incoming power and telephone lines to protect the network from near direct hits. replace long copper wires with fiber where possible. There's lots more that I do for my customers- replacing copper wires for long runs with fiber can prevent induction through structural steel- now there a real bitch. You can do everthing right but if you copper goes by an I-beam that is moving 5 1/2 million volts, it'll still fry a few things. Fiber is nonconductive but the equipment that uses it is expensive so you have to use all your tricks to protect that. My best work: a 7 story building in which I have a 10 X 15 wiring closets for voice & data stacked on top from the basement to the top floor. Made it so easy to wire, it was ridiculous. We did the whole fiber bit in a day and tested it. On the top floor, the big wiring closet backs onto the computer room. The PBX, Network and servers are all on the top floor which is something of an electrical fortress. All the power is on dedicated circuits and backed up by always on generator power. All the equipment has dual power supplies that plug into always on generator power and UPS power so nothing flops that we don't want to flop. If the customer will go for it, I like to install covered security racks. It costs more but prevents accidents and people trying to do what they should not try unless they know what they are doing. Again, this is controlled by who has keys. Here's a nice variety of them:>> Network Security Cabinets Common Options:>> Cabinet Options The big wiring closets are just that: only IT staff has keys so mop buckets and janitors can't get in. Nor are they used for any storage or purpose other than networking. Some may feel that's wasting space but saves headaches down the road. Oh- btw: I designed the grounding scheme for the buildings structural I-beams/lightning rods. They are painted with non-conductive paint and where exposed in some applications, covered by 1/4" plastic molding. My design has become a standard for buildings built for our State.

Are you also interested to look at other gaystories-sites ?
JamesSavik replied to old bob's topic in The Lounge
I guess like everyone I discovered Nifty and dismissed it as icky. I did discover Driver's the Quarry there so it wasn't a total waste. My next story site was CrvBoy where I discovered Kit and CP Lyton's work. Branching out, I found Deweywriter, Drake's Tales and the Eggman's Glass Onion all about the same time. They kept me busy for a while. Someone was kind and introduced me to Awesomedude which is a real gem of a little site. I do love my favorite sites- I cried when the Glass onion shut down. Drakes Tales is also gone but you can still find them on the internet wayback machine- something you'll want to know about. My last major discovery was gayauthors.org whilst looking for Comicality's work. Dom's stuff was a happy discover as were about 20 other writers that are hosted here. My humble stories are posted at Awesomedude.com, Deweywriter.com and the Talon House: AD simply because they asked nice, Deweywriter because Dewey is like my sensei and the Talonhouse because it's the home of my editor Jan. I'm not hosted at GA because I don't fullfill the requirements YET but I eventually will. They've tried to recruit me and my answer will have to be for now- when I'm good enough and ready for this league, we'll both know it. -
Superheros are what psychiatrists call wish fulfillment figures for boys and young teens. Through them the 70 pound 12 year old can have super strength or the bullied kid has the power to bring justice and order. Super-heros replace the heros of mytholgy and saga with a new myth and legend that you can be a part of for $1.50 a copy or 12.50 for a graphic novel. When you look into the real dynamics of comic books and superheros, there is a lot more going on than there is at first glance. eg. consider the psychology of Batman or the Punisher. Why does Superman use his gifts only for the good of mankind? Couldn't he just go into outer space and find a big assed diamond so he can have a crib thats not made out of ice? Don't even get me started with the X-men. There's a bunch of them that need to spend some time on a shrink's couch and they have super-abilities.

Spandex doesn't make a superhero look gay but it makes me a little weak in the knees

Just use the hot link in the first article to get there. You have to register at digg.com but its nonobtrusive. I often scan DIGG for GLBT issues. From an old thread: punkkid- I don't care what you say kissing another guy would be gross. jamessavik- You must not be doing it right. punkkid- &^%$#*& otherfillow: Somebody isn't getting any...

Look closely at the second picture- it shows where our solar system is in reference to other galactic features.

Do we have any Digg fans here at GA? If so, I'm trying to carry of flag to the GA blogs to the digg frontpage. :sword: Please digg this article: The New Face of our Galaxy If we get 100+ diggs, it will help pump up our traffic and may get some new blood into our forums. Articles with pretty pictures can get lots of diggs. Live long and prosper, James

The good people working with the Spitzer space telescope have made a huge discovery. Spitzer sees in a number of bands of the infrared spectra some of which have never been possible to explore before. Our atmosphere absorbs a large chunk of the infrared spectra- specifically microwaves. Spitzers position high above our atmosphere allows it to see and explore things that human eyes simply can not and have only now begun to have the ability to explore. Our understanding of our own home galaxy is tenuous at best. From inside the galaxy, it is difficult to tell the shape and for of the galaxy as it would appear from the outside. We've known for some time that our galaxy is a spiral. We can see the spiral arms with optical astronomy. For many years when astronomers have looked for a model of our galaxy, they would very likely cite M31 or the Andromeda galaxy. Andromeda is a big, well behaved spiral galaxy relatively close and easily observable from earth. The discovery that is probably going to boot Andromeda's place in the textbooks is the Milky Way's Bar. A galactic bar is a feature found in young spiral galaxies and is thought to be caused by instability caused by uneven mass distribution. As a barred spiral ages, this feature slowly disappears and the spiral begings to look more like our old friend the Andromeda galaxy. This is our new vision of the galaxy and our new found bar. So what is our new galactic model? Here's NGC 1300 which will probably replace Andromeda as the galaxy that most looks like the Milky Way as we now understand it.

No. There is a big difference between tolerance and acceptance.

I don't know. Southern families aren't exactly forthcoming about such matters. I suspect because there are parts of the family that seem to avoid other parts so we can't for a union or something.

They are all beautiful if you look closely enough.

The problem was Microsoft update which happened to be a malware removal tool. As far as computer security goes, I believe in defense in depth: Hardware firewall at the router, software firewall, Anti-virus and anti-spyware. It works pretty good. The problems I've had are more related to integration than invasion. I prefer it that way.
