I want to go to SoHo NOW And I LOVE the British Museum. I could spend a week in there no problem. THey have the best Sumerian exhibit I have ever seen and the African exhibit is awesome. I just don't like London in general. Although I suppose I don't have to go to the crappy areas.

I have thought that myself more than once Fact is we can't and the question is... what do we do when we don't? MY personal opinion is that everyone, even the worst asshole, deserves a chance to moderate their behaviour and they can't do that unless they know that their behaviour is upsetting people. I have often found that a lot of people just don't realise they are upsetting people with the things they do/say. I also think that confrontations are not the way to deal with things unless you really have to because the natural instinct when confronted with hostility is to fight. Maybe a few gentle pushes in the right direction might help. Why not talk to him about how much respect YOU have for the women you work with or even women in general and see how he reacts. If he reacts very negatively then maybe ask him why he has such a problem with women... you never know he might tell you the reason. Just keep pushing and challenging gently and see where you end up. Good luck. THere's nothing worse than being unhappy at work

Ooooh dry. Well, as someone who I believe has an unique voice and muse I think I have been fairly vocal in saying that I don't write just for the readers. However, it would be stupid of me to not consider the readership in posting, if not writing. We have had a discussion somewhere on the boards before about posting 'straight' stories and I believe the consensus was that people wouldn't really want to read them here... which is why I have't posted the millions of them that I have. (well maybe millions is a slight exaggeration.) I find this topic interesting even though it wouldn't change the way I write no matter what the outcome... if there is one... might be. I think that the consensus is that people either read for the sex or don't get turned off by it if it's not gratuitous and is part of an otherwise strong story. In other words... it's fine to use sex if it's done as part of the story rather than as the whole of the story with a bit of plot thrown in to joint the sex together. As for the precise definition of what makes a Gay Author that's a very different thing and I believe However, for me a Gay Author is someone who posts stories on this site... no matter what the content is. I have found the site and the people on it to be... generally... tolerant and supportive of anyone who wants to write or to read whether they be straight, gay or bi and whether they write stories with or without sex, gay lesbian or bi. I haven't seen any 'straight' stories but I suspect that they would e accepted and even read and enjoyed by some. It's a strange world and my philosophy is that it would be a dull, boring and sad one if we were all the same. It's the very fact that we are all so different in what we write and what we like to read that makes this place such a stimulating and interesting.... okay addictive... place to be

Oh but I meant 'bite' in the nicest way

Being a former re enactor and total weapons nut...the Leeds armoury is a totally awesome place. I have friends who live in Blackpool and I could probably stay there and get a train. i think it's only about an hour away. I heartily dislike London, and I would NEVER go on the underground but wherever we meet it will be worth it just to finally get to bite... er meet you wonderful guys. You can count me in as a Northerner because, believe it of not the North South divide wobbles downwards to encompass Wales. Have always felt more at home up North anyway what with my brother living in Stanley and my best friend in Blackpool

At the risk of sounding sentimental I think that what makes a couple great is that they complete each other. By that I don't mean that they finish each other's sentences or anything like that but that their different attributes feed into one another and as a couple they balance each other. And part of that balance is conflict. Overcoming conflict is a great part of the balance of a strong relationship becuase no relationship ever is completely without it. The conflict makes each person push themselves. Without it the relationship would become stangnant. And I don't mean constant arguing or never agreeing... I mean healthy conflict. Think of some of the pairs that have been suggested here Han and Leia.... conflict especially before the Leia/luke thing is resolved, and some of the most intense moments were before that Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (that's the only one I know) - obvious conflict of worlds, morals and expectations. Will and Grace / Jack and Karen - all sorts of conflicts between the four. Darcy and Elizabeth - two worlds collide. Jesse and James - now that is just silly because everyone knows James is Gay My favourite media couples are Buffy and Spike Homer and Marge Jonny Depp and Vanessa Paradise (Sp bad) Literary couples Romeo and Juliet (NOT) Carrot and Angua (Terry Pratchett's Discworld) Oh Gods I just can't list them all

You are so silly. You know what? If I ever get to meet you I am going to slap you. And then I am going to hug you. And maybe this will get me to reign in my sarcastic sense humour somewhat .... yeah right (Ummm... under the circumstances maybe I should clarify that I don't ACTUALLY intend to slap you... the hugging is definitely on the cards though)

Uh oh. Maybe I should go back and re write

Sex that is there on the page is not always part of the story. Sometimes it's just there for the sake of it being there. That's called gratuitous sex and that's what most people don't seem to like. If the sex is an integral part of the story, developing from situations and storylines that have been or are going to be established, if it means something and adds to the story then it's 'part of the story'. As for sex that'sokay and sex that's not okay... it's like real life. If someone can do good sex they can do good sex and if they can't they can't. How it's decided is by the participants who either get something from it or not. It's very subjective. You like what you like and don't what you don't If you're not sure then write it and see how it goes down

Nooooooooooooooooooo I can't imagine why you would link my name with sex scenes And if I'm good at writing sex scenes what does that mean for my private life

Message Board Topic 7/1
Nephylim replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
I'm sure that it can. However, I wouldn't be true to myself as a writer if I pull back on things that are meant to be in the story. i suppose it comes back to the question... do you write for yourself or for your readers. The answer for me is sometimes one sometimes the other. In LIC I pulled out all the stops and just let myself do because I was doing it for myself, just to see what I could do. I gave warning at the beginning and if people chose to read on then they took what they got. In other stories especially the ones I wrote for the anthologies and the novella competition I pulled back and wrote for th reader, I think most stories are a combintion of the both. I would feel bad if people were negatively affected by my stories but I wouldn't stop writing what I'm writing because of it and I wouldn't pull the offending material unless I re read it and thought that it was objectively offensive or not true to the story. People are too easily offended by things which are not objectively offensive. I happen to think that if material which is not objectively offensive brings out strong negative feelings in someone then the responsibility is theirs and not mine and perhaps the fact that the negativity has been brought to the surface is an indication that now is the time for them to deal with it. What is objectively offensive? i suppose that is a subjective question. -
Manchester would be cool for me too. It doesn't matter where it is I will be there.

I second that

It hearkens back to the times of long shirt tails which you would have to lift to gain access to the arse.
