  1. At the moment all it would take to make me happy is for people to stop dying around me. My mum's entire close family (her generation and up) have all died in less than 2 years... 3 of them in the last 6 months (my uncle was the last apart from her and he died this morning) and now she is in hospital with a broken hip and pneumonia. And then there are my friends... one suicide, one accident... and now it looks like the bloody angel of death is orienting his sights on me... well f**k that!!!
  2. You play with fire you get burned. You are probably going to hate me for this but I was glad Matt got shafted...he deserved it. Actions have consequences. Notice that, despite my shock and horror at Matt's dreadful behaviour...I am stillr reading
  3. Meh *shrug* THIS is a gogeous man Beautiful man
  4. Because they are sooo mild next to Winnie the Pooh, Wind in the Willows and Charlotte's Web
  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNER
  6. I've read 42 and I'm not going to list them all. Again I have to ask the question about why some of them are on the list... like LOTR ??? and Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows. Also why is the Khama Sutra not on there
  7. Well I am certainly strange and unsually and most definately queer and that has nothing to do with my sexuality... I mean just take a look at the hair colour
  8. Welcome. Nice to meet you...love your little man...what IS he doing?
  9. I have to agree Jack. I have no problem at all with hand holding and chaste kissing by anyone or any combination of hand holders/kissers. However, when we are talking about major petting or... as Nicgh Owl so succinctly puts it 'practically humping each other in the street' then it's too much and I do feel slightly offended whether it is straight or gay.
  10. Very good point, as was Night Owl's. It focusses us on the other side of the arguement so to speak. When a word, any word is spoken there are two things going on. There is the way it is spoken and then there is the way it is heard. We filter language through our own experience and moral framework. Even if the word is not 'said' with malice it can be heard with pain. A good thing to keep in mind I think
  11. Let me be highly controvertial and suggest that perhaps it is because women are naturally more demostrative in public than men... whether gay or straight. It has been my personal experience in all my relationships that if I want affection in public I have to initiate it. Of course there are exceptions but....
  12. I did a whole series of lectures two years ago on the development of laws relating to prejudice. One of the things we looked at was the use of language and the demonisation of words. It was very interesting to hear what the various people in the workshops had to say. The lectures were written and delivered to members of the Civil Service who were to be part of a committee looking at prejudice against minority groups in particular with a view to advising the legistlature. Some of the opinion was interesting but a lot made me quite angry... although I didn't show it of course, far too professional for that. The ultimate decision which the group came up with was that although sometimes it is the intent behind the word that is the key issue there are some words that are so bad that they should be banned per se and that people should not be allowed to say certain words whatever the intent behind them was. The key words that were mentioned by the group in this catefgory were nigger, fag, spastic, etc Interestingly the group thought that positive discrimination was fine, and that it was also fine for people who belonged to the 'wronged' minorities to use the words themselves... ie the Garrison rule in practice in the heart of government.
  13. People complain. If they can't find something to complain about... they complain about it. And don't even talk about narrow mindedness. The story is sweet, the book fabulous and the rest sad.
  14. Tomorrow is always better
  15. I have a phobia about dentists so I commiserate 150%. There is nothing quite so bad as toothache. If you can stand the taste soak it in clove oil. I hope you are feeling better soon *hugs*
  16. I am very much enjoying Bloodlines, although Matt is such a slut I have to admit that I found If It Fits hard going somtimes even though the characters are very vivid. I hope that Matt is okay. It seems as if a lot of the pieces are falling into place nicely and it would be a shame if he shuffled off the mortal coil before he gets embroiled in them
  17. That sounds amazing... the funeral and the life it celebrates.
  18. I am a fanatical researcher. But then again I have a boundless thirst for knowledge generally. It is amazing how much useless information one brain can hold... and equally surprising how useful the information can sometimes be. Wikipedia is a good place to start for any general research as it provides basic information and often links. I use it as a springboard if I am researching something completely new. I have my own favourite sites for particular things... for example 'wonderhowto.com' has shown me many things... from the correct location and method for inserting in IV line... peripheral and central... to how the old rotary telephone systems with switchboards worked. If I am thinking of writing a period peice...and I have never done a complete story, although there is a character in one who is out of his time...I read whatever I can find.. literature wise which is set in that period to get a 'feel' for it. For example if I were setting my vampire stories in Victorian times I would read the Brotes, if I were setting something in Edwardian times I would read Thomas Hardy etc. OR read other books which are set in these periods. By getting a feel for the way other authors write a period and seeing what does and doesn't work for them then you can get a flavour for your own work. And then of course there is good old Google for general or specific searches around a topic. As long as you know what you don't know so to speak, it is always possible to find it.

    What a Rush!

    Congratulations
  20. You have the posing nailed anyway Very cute... oh those puppy dog eyes
  21. I am very sorry to hear about your loss but glad that you had been able to heal your relationship before he went. It is so hard to lose someone close, and so much harder if there is unfinished business and regret muddying the water. It is good that he passed peacefully and he is at rest now. I hope that those left behind will find solace in that and will come to your own peace soon. Blessings to you and your family.
  22. Sounds like it was a hard decision to post the pictures. Congrats on making the right one. Those photos are adorable. Don't delete them:)
  23. Congratulations. Facebook fan sorted
  24. Congratulations. Murder evenings are fun, they do them at a local hotel and I've been once. Have a great time while you earn
  25. Well.... It is difficult for me to answer this one without making the post a novel in itself. My beliefs are complex and go back a long long way... way before the bible. Many of the things spoken of in the bible go back a long way before it was written. I am speaking specifically of angels and nephylim. They have the gist of the story but they are talking about something that happened long before and was twisted in the telling. Essentially it goes like this.... there was a war. The angels won. The angels bred with humans but the powers that be (not god) didn't like it. The angels had a civil war and their number was severely depleted. The Book of Revelations talks about the war that will be when the ancient enemy comes again. Again this is nothing to do with God. My belief is that we all need to get out acts together, humans need to open their eyes and see what else they share their world instead of hiding in their heads safe behind walls of scorn and disbelief, and we all need to unite... before it's too late But then of course I am insane... arent I?
