I prefer... expect the best and accept the worst. If you go through life always expecting the worst it will be a pretty miserable life. My favourite is... if you keep your eyes on the stars you don't see the shit your feet are walking through. And if you fall now and again a mouthful of shit doesn't hurt... just tastes bad and makes you appreciate the sweetness even more when your head breaks the surface. Might be worth taking swimming lessons though

My headache isnt as bad as usual. My son is amazing It's raining but I dont have a wet cat on my lap. I can walk I can see i am getting a free lunch No one stole my computer when I forgot to back up my work and left the back door open all night again I am wildly excited about a new story and madly in love with a new character again. I am very sorry to hear you have been struggling of late. We all go through periods like that. If you ever need me then holler and I am here. Sometimes those who are quickest to help others are the last to ask for help when they need it themselves And don't talk to me about death.. it's stalking me at the moment, not that I am a stranger but still.... You cat was very lucky to breath its last breath in the arms of someone who loved her... at the end of the day that is something that we can all hope for when the inevitable arrives. Let's face it.... no one gets out of this life alive.

Oh me too, me too. I appreciate beauty wherever I find it and if it happens to be a human face/ form so much the better. As far as I am concerned the ultimate beauty is expression. I am very much an 'eye' person and I have seen plenty on this thread that have made my pulses race. Down girl :) I also have rather a strange interpretation of beauty so I find sometimes find it in unusual places. Mainstream ideals of 'beauty' are so narrowly defined. So don't discount yourself because you are not classically beautiful there is always beauty there somewhere and always someone who will see it.

I like to mix. I have been doing a lot of experimentation in this respect recently. I used to write almost exclusively in third person... telling a story. Then I started to experiment with first person and then I started to think a lot about perspective and started to experiment with showing different perspectives on the same story. It started really with To Have and to Hold where I experimented by alternating the perspective of the characters from chapter to chapter.... ie telling one chapter from the perspective of one character and the next from the second then back to the first... so there was only the two of them. Now I am going further with Death is Not and Option by having more than one character speaking in more than one tense and more than one person in random order. So you never know which character you are going to get next (I tell you at the head of the chapter who is speaking so it isn't too confusing) and sometimes they start by looking over something that the previous character has already recounted from their point of view therefore starting in the past tense and moving to the present tense as they catch up. It gets a bit complicated sometimes but I am quite pleased with the way it is working out. I think it adds dimension to a story in that you get different characters and perspectives looking at the same situation and you see a little why people do what they do and how they seem not only to themselves but to others while they are doing it. I don't know if any of this makes sense as it is just an experiment for me at the moment. i suppose only time will tell if it works or not.
