This experimental text plays with multiple narrative layers to create a humorous and multifaceted experience. The first layer is the straightforward story of the narrator’s mundane trip to the supermarket. Beneath this lies the second layer: the narrator’s inner thoughts, offering self-critical and reflective commentary.

The third, most distinctive layer comes from the sharp and glamorous remarks of the narrator’s alter ego, Daisy. This voice contrasts the mundane with biting humor and flamboyance, highlighting the tension between humility and hidden confidence.

Nicky and Reilly have been dating for a year, and Nicky is taking his boyfriend home over the holiday to meet his parents for the first time.

We return to Orono, Maine, where Detective Gennaro Saggio makes another appearance. This time, the killer is even harder to track down than was Parker Toliver, she of ‘The Fascinator Murders.’

Detective Gennaro Saggio’s first email of the new year announces a murder. Curiously, it is signed OOOI. The victim was a suspected arsonist, found dead in an abandoned warehouse. A suicide note was present, but the victim was handcuffed in a closed and chained tanning bed. The victim had previously been arrested, tried, and acquitted of first-degree murder, and arson.

Apparently, someone didn’t believe he was innocent.
