My stories live in the everyday - in the quiet, ordinary moments where family, friendship, and love collide. They’re slice-of-life at heart: realistic, grounded, and woven with the kinds of small details that make life feel real, even when they seem mundane.

I write about characters learning who they are, navigating relationships that can lift them up or break them down, and facing choices that often ripple far beyond themselves. Some stories close on a hopeful note, with growth and connection; others follow harsher truths, where endings can be bitter, even tragic. But no matter where they land, each story is about the struggle and beauty of personal growth, and how we’re shaped by the people closest to us.

My writing explores the human experience and focuses on characters finding their way. It is often reflective or descriptive of the emotional, spiritual, and profound discovered in life’s moments. I love words that carry unexpected insight; Contrasting or seemingly dissimilar ideas that suddenly align in moments of epiphany.

What began with Trials and Tribulations grew naturally into The Field of Love, two intertwined coming‑of‑age stories about Andy Collins, Joey Adams, Sammy Day, and the boys who shape their world. As they struggle to understand themselves — and their sexuality — they’re forced to confront the shadows of Pine Hills, an Appalachian mining town where abuse, secrets, and murder lie just beneath the surface.

Born in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, a suburb of Amsterdam, Netherlands. American dad, Nederlands mom. Moved to The States in 1976, and have had mixed feelings about it since. Love the US, still feel Dutch, try to combine both.
View the world through rose-colored glasses. I once tried to remove them, but found it to be caused by my eyes after all. Prognosis: no cure.
