Lyrical Laments - 11. Chapter 11 Visitation

I'll blame you, shall I, when I have night terrors based on your poem?   😱  Don't read horror stories of a certain sort before going to bed, perhaps ... Did you get back to sleep ? Not sure I would've done.

No, unfortunately, I did not. I tossed and turned till morn. Maybe it was the painkillers... or watching CNN before bed.   Thanks, northie... I appreciate you commenting, and I hope you don't get an unpleasant visitation of your own.

I don't want to pee the bed at a knock knock knock in the middle of the night.    I wonder, do you get bad dreams with what you take for migraines?  I'm blaming my macabre twist on the painkillers for my shoulder. One that had me sitting up and sweating. The thing is, I finally didn't have to worry about raccoons coming through my blanket wall... thought I would sleep like a baby.   Very creepy... it's been a while. Thanks for commenting, buddy.  

Gary, I hope you will feel better soon. Shoulder injuries can be really painful.  The other night I had a very bad dream, I was so glad when I woke up that it was just a bad dream.

Thank you, my friend. I'm pleased you liked this. It's not fun to wake up feeling frightened, especially when that feelings stays with you. I remember having bad dreams regularly, as a kid. I'll find out what is wrong with my shoulder on Monday, after an ultrasound and X-ray. Thanks for the good wishes and for commenting, Job.

I no longer recall specifics of the dream... just the feeling of waking up freaked out. In truth, this was kind of fun to write... in a weird way. Thanks for commenting, B.  

Been there, done that and wish it the last time. Unfortunately, my wishes don't come true. I hate the nightmares, but like you said I don't fear the boogey man.   Mine are often more weird than frightening.  I guess it's a good that things happening in the dream quickly fade when we wake up.  I can see how it was kind of fun to write this poem.  It's kind of like the HP world where picturing the feared Boggart in some comical costume or situation chases the it away. If I faced a boggart of Voldemort I would picture it like this. I figure you did this writing your poem.  Not so weird.

Lol. That would work, I guess.   Nightmares peppered my nights as a child, with good reason. It is irksome when they show up as an adult, and that remembered fear resurfaces. Yeah, writing this poem was kind of fun, and I guess I'm thankful they are now just dreams and not based on any reality.

I am learning so much about you my friend from each poem I read. I am also thankful that these are only dreams now.  Take care.

I suppose you are. I should just point out that "Lyrical Lamentations", as the name suggests, tends to be colored darkly, so keep that in mind, buddy. "Headstall's Reflections" and "Cozy Contemplations" shows a more balanced poet I think.  But yeah, I can't write poetry that isn't honest, so if that exposes stuff that is uncomfortable, so be it. I had a great but flawed mother, and am thankful for her, but there is so much of my childhood that tested me because of damage done by my bio dad that spread throughout my entire family. I wouldn't wish it on any child, and maybe it is why I am the father I am. I tend to excuse things from those times in my everyday approach to life, but in poetry or in dreams, not so much. This journey I am taking with you, as hard as it is to revisit, is likely good for me, and I thank you for that.
