Finding Good Trouble

A story very much grounded in today’s world, where racism and homophobia are still very much a part of people's lives. At first, Parker isn't having to confront the prejudice in his small town, but when he sees a young black man beaten up by the local police, he is forced to change his attitudes and is drawn into a spiralling web of events. The love story is convincing and there are a couple of shocking moments. Ronyx isn't afraid to pull his punches and take his characters through a whole range of emotions.

You will find yourself confronted by asking, "What if, or what would I do, or would I stand for that...being treated in such a manner?"

It isn't easy to walk in another person's shoes, in fact it can be downright uncomfortable.

It begs the question, are you strong enough to confront everything you thought you knew, to challenge your preconceptions?

This is such an extraordinarily, well written story! Totally mirroring our societal ills, or at least a few ones, that are steeped in hate, ignorance and "ignore it and it'll go away" thinking. The characters made you love this story, not just the main players, but even the supporting ones, like Charley and the indomitable and unforgettable, lovable Myles❣️For you Myles...you'll be our thoughts for a while, for sure😢 Kudos, Ronyx, for this wonderful story to remind us of getting into 'good trouble', instead of ignoring evil!! A MUST READ...please

This is a story that isn't an easy read.

It challenges many topics that are happening in many countries, but particularly in the USA. It deals with racism and racial injustice.

We follow Parker a white boy as he witnesses a fight at his school, which is just the start of things to come.

What happens next is not easy reading as Parker witnesses and films Police brutality, against a black man Darius, who has done nothing wrong.

This sets off a chain of events that Parker or Darius, could ever forsee happening.

We discover racial injustice at the highest level. But you need to read this story to understand more.

As with all @Ronyx stories he writes about hard hitting subjects, but I found this one particularly hard to read in places and was brought to tears in many places.

This comes highly recommended.

When you read a story by this author he always deals in issues relevant to  teenagers gay or otherwise ranging from  basic difficulties in coming out(Apple Of Her Eye) ,Homeless gay teens due to religious extremists(Stuff People Do) to even the dangers of teens sexting onlineI(It's Not Easy Being A Tree) There isn't an issue which this author hasn't written about well.

In this story the issue of racism are  dealt with and are more relevant then ever due to very recent events . This is done from the perspective of high school students and deals with all the factors that contribute to this issue such a corrupt and racist police and school officials ,parents and even some of the student themselves.

This author gives the same careful thought and treatment he usually does in his stories but in this one he  has a more qualified take to give due to his personal situation and experiences. Read this story and don't be surprised if you come away with thoughts you haven't considered before

Over the last months this is one of the best stories to appear on GA.  Racial tensions mixed with inter-racial gay love is a powerful theme and the author pulls it off perfectly.

this is not an easy read and in no way “titivating”, but it is both thought-provoking and enjoyable with a pair of great teenagers on the way to becoming men.

Highly recommended.

A wonderfully written story that attempts to answer why.  Why do so many have such hate in their hearts?  Why do so many refuse to do the right thing?  Why after so much time; does nothing seem to change?

The writing in this story is very good; and the flow to the story is first rate.  The character development, however, is what truly made the story for me.  You are drawn to each character so quickly, I believe because we all know someone that they will remind you of.  They are well rounded and just work on so many levels.

A powerful story that tries to make sense of things that for those with open hearts and open minds we just don't understand.  

While reading you will truly laugh, cry, and feel true anguish.  I highly recommend this story, but be warned part of so real they could possible be trigger points for those that have dealt with similar issues in their own lives.  

An extremely poignant story that, while taking place in a small town, could equally be situated in any city.  Racism, homophobia, and chosen ignorance not only exist everywhere, but are fully fostered in our political, educational and religious institutions.  Efforts to change are difficult to do, but worth the effort.  The job is up to everyone - not just 'them'.  This is a story which needs to be read, pondered, digested and become inspiration to do something positive to move towards love.

A friend of mine told me you know when you have read a great piece of literature when you forget you are reading a book.  Finding Good Trouble is a great piece of literature.  Beware, it does deal with raw violence, racial bigotry and homophobia so realistic that each emotion you feel also carries over physically to your body. It is a powerful and deeply moving argument for finding ways to eliminate hate without resorting to violence.  This is not an easy read, but one story that needs to be read by all people.  IMO it should be published!  I highly recommend this story!

This is one of those stories that deserves more than the five star rating that is allowed. It's a tough read, but it's also a very good, no excellent read. It is extremely well written and in a sympathetic way deals with the hatred and discrimination that still exists today. It is done against a backdrop of love between two young men whose love crosses the divides of a lot of society. This is a story that, to me, is a must read, one that should be read by more than the readership of GA. @Ronyx has created a masterpiece for us to read, so I suggest you all get to reading it.
