Winter - Prologue. Dedication

And we’re off! CJ just celebrated his sixteenth birthday, got a Jeep as a present from his fathers, and is about to fly to Sydney to spend his Christmas vacation in Australia. When outlining the cast of characters who would populate this story, I wanted to make the group diverse and decided to include a couple of men from other countries. One of them turned out to be an Aussie, giving me an excuse to send the boy to Oz.

I’ve been lucky to interact―in person or on line―with some incredible men from Australia. Their friendliness and warmth inspired me to visit their country a few years back. There I fell in love with the people I met, and the places I visited; I hope to return some day. In the meantime, CJ gets to experience some of what I did, and in the process he meets some people who’ll play a big role in his life.

To all the Aussies I’ve ever met, I dedicate this book.

Loved the dedication Carlos.

I can't believe we are less than 24 hours to Winter's launch. It seemed likely only yesterday that this day was on the other side of the moon...well, it seemed like it....I don't care that it's a holiday tomorrow, I'm going to be up early! :D :d

It's a Winter Wonderland .... even though it's deep summer in the Land of Oz

LOL

There's a scene in the movie The Sum of Us in which a very young and hunky Russell Crowe goes shopping for a Christmas tree with his father--wearing shorts. It's stuck with me all these years because that's something we would do in South Florida.

Hope you enjoy the coming Christmas in Australia.

Thanks, 1810-

I felt since half the book takes place in Australia, and I've really never met an Aussie I didn't like, the dedication was appropriate.

Oh its like waiting for the roller coaster to start!

Winter is a more sedate adventure. How can you have conflict while in Australia. Too much to see nd do!

I am glad to read that you did get to spend some time in Oz, after reading the first 2 stories I have been reading practically all the time. I have found that the characters in the story help bring it to life. Everyone CJ meets seem to take an instant liking to him. I'm looking forward to this part of the whole story and the trip down under.

@Butcher56

Some of CJ's travels are based on my own while others are the result of research. This won't be the last time we visit Australia, I have too many good memories to share in just a couple of chapters!

Who cares when you read. I promised I would always reply to comments and plan on sticking to it. I forget how many chapters take place in Australia but there'll be some serious sight seeing. And I may throw in a hot Aussie or two.

I have tried to read this story all the way through a few times. I think this is my fourth attempt. I don't like starting a story then coming back to it months later after life has gotten in the way. I am thoroughly enjoying the story.

Oh God here we go!

LMAO - Most of this book takes place in Australia and it will prove to be a life-defining trip for CJ. New people, new places, and new experiences. Hope you enjoy this one as much as the last two entries in the series.

Jumping into Winter and looking forward to Oz. Visited there some years ago as I have cousins who live in Melbourne. Most South Africans have cousins in Australia.

Australia seems to be a magnet for immigrants from the Southern Hemisphere. I know there are a lot of Brazilians and Argentinians living there too.

And so many Lebanese and Greeks as well, although they are N. hemisphere.

Australia, like Canada, the US, and the EU are magnets for people from less developed economies. Personal liberties probably play a hand too.
