Worthington Manor - 14. Chapter 14

“What are you doing here?” asked Justin

“Your mother invited me to wait for you.”

“Is Hunter here?”

“No, he and his dad went for a few days to his father’s hometown. Apparently they had a death in the family.”

“Oh no, I should call him.”

“They’re flying, so their phones might not be on. You should just wait until you here from them.” said Luke

“Well, since you’re here you should come up stairs.”

As they got settled into Justin’s room, Luke, right away, went in for a kiss.

“So where were you?” asked Luke

“I was with Ms. James at Charlie’s Diner, talking.” said Justin

“About what”

“About our situation”

“What did she say?”

“She said that I needed to make a decision between you and Hunter because I can’t string you two along.” said Justin

“Well, that is true, but she doesn’t know what she’s talking about right. She’s doesn’t know how complicated it is.”

“I guess you have a point there, but no matter how complicated this is, she’s still right. We can’t do this to Hunter and Jessica. It’s not fair on them.” said Justin

“What are you saying?”

“I’m saying that I choose you Luke. I don’t want Hunter, I want you and I’m asking you if you choose me too.” said Justin

Luke backed away not knowing what to say.

“Justin, I love you, but I’m not sure that I’m ready. I’ll break up with Jessica, I promise, but not now.” said Luke

“Are you ashamed of me or something?” asked Justin

“Baby no”

“Don’t call me baby. Not when you’re acting as if you’re ashamed of me.” said Justin

“If I were ashamed of you, would I have made love to you in the middle of that alley.” said Luke

Justin thought about Luke’s question for a few seconds.

“No, I guess not, but if that isn’t the reason, then what is?” asked Justin

“Was it easy for you to come out? Was it cake?” asked Luke

“No, no it wasn’t.” said Justin

“Then can you please give me some time?” asked Luke

“Yeah, what ever you need.”

Luke walked back up to Justin and cupped his left hand on Justin’s right cheek.

“Thank you. You’re so good to me.” said Luke

With Luke’s hand still on his cheek, Justin placed his right hand on Luke’s hand.

“Because I love you”

Justin took Luke’s hand and kissed the top of it. Justin went to go sit on his desk chair and Luke sat on his lap.

“I want you to know something Justin.”

“What”

“I’ve never been as happy with anyone as I am with you.”

“Well, I would say the same thing, but I only have one relationship besides you.”

“It doesn’t matter to me. All that I care about is you.” said Luke

Luke bent down and gave Justin a kiss. As they were kissing, Justin’s mother walked into the room. Luke jumped off of Justin’s lap.

“Mom, what are you doing in here? Haven’t you ever heard of knocking?” asked Justin

“I’m, I’m sorry. I’ll come back later.”

She closed the door and Luke started to pace the room.

“Oh no, I can’t believe that that just happened.”

“I’m sorry Luke. I’m so sorry.” said Justin

“It’s not your fault.”

“Listen, stay up here. I will go talk to my mother.” said Justin.

“Okay”

Justin went downstairs to go talk to his mother. He walked into the kitchen, looking for his mother, and he found her, sitting at the table. Justin was silent. His mother was looking down at the table, but knew that he was in the room.

“Why would you do that? Why would you cheat on Hunter?”

“I…”

“I thought that you two were happy.”

“We were”

“Then why cheat on him? Why do it?”

“I know that you have a soft spot when it comes to cheating, but…”

“A soft spot; that’s an understatement. Your father cheated on me. I know how that feels and in a way he cheated on you too so you should know how that feels too and you still do it.”

“Mom, I never expected to fall in love with Luke. My feelings for him came out of left field.”

“I have to tell Hunter.”

“No”

“No!?”

“I’ll tell him.”

“I think your friend should leave.” said Julia.

“Okay, just give me a few minutes to talk through some things with him.” said Justin

Just then, Kevin walked in.

“What’s going on here?” asked Kevin

“Nothing” said Justin.

Justin left the room. Kevin could see that his mother was upset and sat next to her.

“Mom, what happened?”

“It doesn’t concern you. It’s something your brother has to take care of.” said Julia

“My brother does concern me. If he’s in trouble, I want to know.” said Kevin

“It really is no one’s business but your brother’s okay. So just leave it alone.” said Julia.

Angry at how upset his mother was, Kevin went to go up and talk to Justin. He opened the door and saw Luke and Justin kissing.

“So this is what she is so upset about. How could you do this Justin? You know what mom has been through and you still do this, even after she’s so upset.” said Kevin

“Kevin, Luke and I are none of your business.”

“You know what, whatever. I don’t even want to know you.” said Kevin

“Fine! Leave!” yelled Justin

Kevin left, slamming the door.

“What was that all about?” asked Luke

Justin sighed.

“I came up here to tell you that my mother is really upset at me, but I couldn’t so I just started to kiss you.” said Justin

“Why is she upset?” asked Luke

“Because of what we’re doing; cheating I mean.” said Justin

“Oh”

“The reason she left my father, right before he died, was because he was cheating on her.” said Justin.

“Oh”

“I was really little, and didn’t find out what really happened until later, but I still feel really guilty right now.” said Justin

“This is all my fault. If I had just kept my big mouth shut you would never have to go through this.” said Luke

“Hey, Luke, I want you to know that I’m glad that you opened up, if you hadn’t I would have never known what love is.” said Justin

“But you had Hunter.”

“Yeah, and I thought I might have loved him, but once I met you, I knew that that wasn’t even a fraction of what love actually is.” said Justin as he put his arms around Luke’s waist.

Luke smiled and gave Justin a quick little peck on the lips.

“But right now, I need you to leave. Justin until I get things in order.” said Justin

“Okay, whatever you need.” said Luke as he gave him another peck and left the room.

Justin followed him out and led him out the door. He shut the door behind his love and then walked back to the kitchen to try and reconnect with his mother.
