Lullaby

Hush, lay your head on my chest
In my arms safely rest
Nothing to fear
I'll be right here

Let my voice be your guide
I'll be there at your side
Slip into the deep
Soothe you to sleep

Day is over, you've slain the beast
This safe haven will bring you peace

Hush, feel my love slumber on
Fingers ease your troubled brow
Let my touch spell you
As only I do

Let go I will count every breath
Till I'm sure you've reached the depth
Where dreams bring bliss
Of your lover’s kiss

Hush, though the world out there hurts
I promise to love you for better or worse
You run to me first
I'll put it all in reverse

Feel my love wash the stain away
Tomorrow will be a brighter day.

Hush, lay your head on my chest
In my arms safely rest
Nothing to fear
I'm always right here

:wizard::D Congrats Mama! :D :wizard:
I really love this lullaby. I actually started humming a bit as I read it. I can see myself sing this to nephew or niece if they were younger (I doubt my nine year old nephew would appreciate it now  )
Mama, you have a way with words  We all saw that when you first posted that carol in AC's prompt, and here you are now :D officially posting a lullaby as the first chapter of many more to come in your first story!

So much to like here. I found the very personal feel of this stunning... a lullaby to a lover... a commitment to always be there. Who couldn't fall asleep to such reassurance... wonderful, Def... I loved it... it didn't hurt a bit, did it? Cheers... Gary....

My first review of my first official posting. We will always have this moment. Lol.. It didn't hurt too much.

Thank you for a lovely review Gary. You are amazingly supportive and what you think means a lot to me. Thanks again..

The Carol prompt feels so long ago. That you remember, makes me happy. Funny that this is also a musical prompt.. Hmm.

Thank you for your enthusiastic review Drew. Your kind words and support mean so much..

Authors and poets seem to sprout around here like weeds! However, in this case, I think we're seeing a budding flower instead of a noxious plant. I'm looking forward to seeing it continuosly bloom.

Way to go, Def.

You know just what to say to this girl... I may never quite be a poet but I hope to never become noxious. Lol.

I'm so happy you actually like it.. I appreciate the review and all of your support.. Thank you Carlos!

This was beautiful. I loved how this could be sung to the person you love. You want your love and strength to support and soothe them. There is a feeling of comfort and commitment with every verse.

Congratulations on your first posting, with hopefully many, many more to come!

Thank you Lit, for a lovely review. I'm glad that it struck that tone with you.. I appreciate you reading this, and for your support and encouragement, thank you so much!

You've made a wonderful marriage of words and music. I could follow all the lyrics right through the composition, and in the development section when it slows almost to a stop on your lyrics of "Day is over, you've slain the beast; This safe haven will bring you peace" it nearly brought me to tears.

Thanks you for taking the Poetry Prompt challenge. You did a great job!

I am so very pleased and proud of you. You do realize this will increase the pressure on others of us to follow your lead.

Thank you so much Dugh.. You know your support means a lot.

If by others you mean you too, I would especially love for that to happen.

Thanks again for the encouragement and the review.
