I feel really lucky this SA season to read so many stories with genres I absolutely love. I don't want to give anything away, though. So, I'll just say, this one was one of my favorites.

Response from the author:

Thanks Ben, for your kind review. I'm glad you enjoyed this short little story. People appear to want more. I best do some thinking about it. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

This short story has an interesting premise, with fascinating characters, and a gruesome plot, since it it's a detective story and the main characters are all cops.  You'll also discover there might be were-creatures and vampires intertwined in the subplots, and even if you're not interest in a genre that features such creatures, you may find this story as an exception to your noninterest in this genre.  And although this is an interesting read, I hope the SA decides to continue the story and this chapter is just a teaser.

Response from the author:

Thanks Bill.  I have written about vampires and zombies and sort of didn't want to again. But i've read some very good novels set in the modern day and where there have always been preternatural creatures in society. They are not hidden or a surprise but exist side-by-side with 'regular' humans.  Those books nudged me to write something. And having been married to a detective... it was fun to write.

I will think about another Jules Ross story. Thanks for your excellent comments.

I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll just say this was different and fun, and I love this kind of world we got a glimpse of. Check it out, people! Cheers!

Response from the author:

Thanks Gary!  Fun was what I wanted to write and I'm glad it worked. Thank you very much for your kind review.

A clever were-creature/vampire story.  Not my usual choice but it was a good read. Loved the sardonic humour of our detective.  Will you be ordering scalloping in the near future? Read this before you do 😂

Response from the author:

Thanks Gary. I wanted to write something fun. Jules is based on my Husband, who was a detective for a long time. He has a very sarcastic sense of humour. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Thanks for your kind review.
