Now that I've got platform agnostic this generation buy getting every system, I thought I'd weigh in on things. First up, I've been an Xbox guy since early 2006. Before that, I was a PC guy pretty much exclusively. I always enjoyed Super Mario Brothers, Castlevania, and Zelda games on Nintendo though. Current Hardware setup: I have a 7.2.2 (2 Dolby Atmos speakers. 7 standard speakers and 2 sub-woofers). have a late model Samsung 4k tv with HDR. I have an Xbox One X, a PlayStation 4 Pro and a Nintendo Switch. Xbox One X Pros Best Hardware as far as power goes. Every game that is on all systems, looks best here. Friendliest User Interface of the bunch Best controller for people with larger hands With the new group feature, hands down best way to organize digital content on any of the consoles. Backwards compatible games Xbox One X enhanced 4k games... even of multiple 360 titles. Negatives Single player games are a bit weak on this system. There are basically no Exclusive games. Especially good story based ones Store is well organized but can be dog slow far too often. PlayStation 4 Pros Best looking console. The flashy lights on both the console and controller appeal to my inner self yelling "Squirrel!" Best Singleplayer exclusive games (Though Nintendo does well here) Games play great on the Pro console Digital Store has a cart. That's great! Negatives The most god-awful user interface I've ever had to deal with. I can see this being an utter nightmare if you get more than 10 or digital games installed. The digital store's search function is obnoxiously bad. Digital stores doesn't even work. Sony is incapable of processing digital purchases. I had to contact support (I never contact support) and they told me to buy a Sony Gift card on Amazon and load money that way to buy digital games. WTF? I want to spend money and they can't even take it. And It was ANY form of payment. I tried credit cards, debit cards and PayPal and it just choked. Did I mention their store sucks? If you have big hands, their controller is a bit dainty. Did I mention their store sucks? Nintendo Switch Pros Portable Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mario Odyssey Negatives Underpowered hardware, though Nintendo does their thing well with it. Motion controller is gimicky Switch controller joypad thingy is goofy Pro controller is expensive as hell

Those familiar with me may already know I'm along time player of WoW. I left during the Pandaria expansion because I wasn't a fan of it and we'd gotten our first child, who was - and is - a handful. But I'm back to playing and we have a guild, Luck in the Shadows, which is on the Proudmoore server which is a west coast server (I'm east coast). So for anyone looking to play or re-up and get with a new guild, hit us up.

With the background knowledge that I have owned every game Bioware has released in the last 20 years from Baldur's Gate (twice in fact, I bought the enhanced edition re-release) to now... I was fully expecting and looking forward to Bioware's new game. Bioware is known for the high quality stories (the rush job on Mass Effect being the only recent bad blip in recent memory) but there was no story evident in the trailer for Anthem. I hope this is just trailer emphasis and not the actual total lack of story. This game reminds me WAY too much of Destiny and The Division. Two decent games I own... but never ever play. I like playing a variety of games but some of these games require fanatic dedication to be any good in order to enjoy the MMO-crap they attach to the games. That said, Bioware has Star Wars The Old Republic which is the only MMO I could ever tolerate because you can basically play completely on your own with great story and not worry too much about the MMO crap. Anthem... I'm being cautious on. The graphics look outstanding and the flying mech suits look like great fun.... but...

So I played the original version of this on Gameboy back when it released. The music brings so much back. I've not played a lot so far, but what I have played has been fun and cute.

So I picked this up near launch. It is from a double A studio, instead of your usual mega studio. It's very much like a budget version of Dragon Age or Mass Effect. You know, the last few good games from Bioware before the EA pestilence set in. It's story driven and it's good. It's good enough so far, in fact, that the minor technical issues I've experienced can be ignored. I'm having fun with it and want to see where it goes. Some of the foreshadowing in the early game isn't subtle.

This games was originally released 10 years ago. It's considered the unofficial 3rd movie, written by the same two that wrote the first two movies. It was fun 10 years ago and is incredibly nostalgic for those of us that were kids when the movie came out. I picked it up again. Perhaps it'll help erase seeing the trailer for that 2016 toilet leavings reboot movie.

And because I don't have enough distractions in my life, I picked up the new game from Remedy Entertainment, Control. This seems to be an evolution of the pretty good Quantum Break. https://controlgame.com/ I spent about an hour playing and the game looks cools with some interesting visuals. It also has enough of a hook in the story that I'm interested in playing more. Has anyone else tried it out yet?

So, I have been addicted to the Mario Bros since the original Nintendo came out when I was a kid. I just picked up the New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe for Switch over the weekend and I was playing that. https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/new-super-mario-bros-u-deluxe-switch/ I think this is the first Mario Bros in quite some time that gave me the feeling of the original. Or probably more truthfully, like my favorite on Nintendo, Super Mario 3. The graphics are really pretty too. They did some nice lighting effects. It makes me look forward to Luigi's Mansion. Anyone else enjoy Mario Bros?

Oh my. This has to be the best looking game on the system. The Forza games have worked very well for me as a game I can drop into to unwind. I can do a race or 3 and then go off back to whatever task is eating my attention. I'm very happy with Forza Horizon 4 on my Xbox One X. This is a play anywhere game, so it's on the PC as well, though you'll need some serious gear on the PC to make this rock.

There aren't an awful lot of them, it's true, but they do exist. Protagonists are even rarer, particularly unambiguous ones. The only game I've played with an unambiguously LGBT protagonist is Dreamfall Chapters, where Kian Alvane is canonically gay and you can't choose not to be. Boy, did that ever piss off the cis-het dudebros... Wish he could have actually had a romance, though. Then you've got your gay love interests in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. Literally the only trans character from a game I can think of off the top of my head is Krem from Dragon Age Inquisition. Can you think of any?

Anybody else purchase this and been playing obsessively since yesterday?

I recently found out a copy of Skyrim for my laptop, and also found that my motion sickness issue with FP games is nill with it too. So, I've been having a killer time playing this game. Then I was introduced to the realm of Mods for the PC version. So, for those that have Skyrimmed on the PC, what's your favorite mod?

Hi all gamers. I recently got an xbox 360 from a friend that was moving back to Europe. I was more of a PC player, rpgs and strategy, but got all Dragon Age for my birthday. As I finished these ones now, I am looking for suggestions of a game to buy. I am not a heavy gamer (don't play everyday) so will probably just buy one or two. Anything good? I was thinking of looking to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition, but I want opinions or other suggestions. IF there is a good one for xbox 360, a final fantasy is also an option. I am more of fantasy guy (I am always a mage), but also liked KOTOR and Starcraft games back when I played on the PC. What should buy? 😀

While gaming companies have tried to innovate and still draw in players, recent years have featured the rise of Battle Royale. PUBG & Fortnite drew much of the early attention, with the newest addition being EA/Respawn's Apex Legends. These offer a rather different take than previous models, and feel much closer to mobile mindsets than traditional console games. The free to play + micro-transactions to get things system has dominated mobile gaming for as long as that's been a thing. However, by making most of it cosmetic-based, it does keep the playing field fairly simple (at least in Apex, but I didn't try any before then). Like mobile gaming, these play on the few spending massive amounts, as well as the casual "what's a few bucks here and there" type players to make up for the lack of an initial price tag. Anyone have any thoughts on the rise of these games? I find it to be an interesting model to change, but it seems to be working (and with some major AAA titles floundering, it's not like it's simply all video games doing well). Do you all love them? Hate them? Ignore them? I'm late to the game since I never looked at these in the past, but I can see some of the draw. Just curious what others' experiences have been.

So, I've been loving the new Wolfenstein games, New Order and New Colossus, but the new one that's coming out this summer, Youngblood, looks particularly awesome. This time you play as one (or both?) of Blazkowicz's teenage daughters, gone to Paris to find and hopefully rescue their father, who's vanished. The trailer looks amazing! Contains violence and strong language, so I'm putting it in a spoiler tag just in case. The gameplay of the two that are already out is awesome, and they're almost stupidly good-looking games, graphics-wise. I can't wait for this third one.

Hmm. This looks like it might be the best Star Wars game to come along since Star Wars the Forced Unleashed. I find the character kind of adorable too. Of course, the actor that voices him and motion captures... is Cameron Monaghan. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1185747/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1 Now, EA keeps screwing up game after game. So I'm seriously concerned... but my fingers are crossed.

There are many many Lego Games. I think 3 this year? Lego Harry Potter Collection, Lego DC Super-Villians and Lego The Incredibles... I think I own them all. While I've not completed the ones from the last couple years, I have completed all the previous ones. They seem to fall in just the right spot of funny and easy to play. I enjoy them as kind of a mindless way to unwind. Do any of you play them?

So this is a thing. The reviews have been outstanding. I played the first mission up to the first boss fight this morning. It's a beautiful looking and sounding game on the PS4 Pro. Outstanding really. The little I've played so far, reminds me of Batman Arkham series but with a much more kinetic character to control. My only complaint is with the PS4 controller. 12 years of using xbox's stellar controller and the steaming pile of crap that is the PS4 (more like POS) controller makes playing anything an exercise in frustration. I mean seriously.. where the hell is the guide on what an R1 vs R2 vs R3 means? That's just stupid. And the layout is not built for large hands. The controller sucks in the extreme. I'm looking to see if I can find a decent PS4 with the xbox physical layout... Otherwise I'll have to just play this game in story mode, because I spent more time fighting the controller than I did enemies on the screen...

Anybody else preorder this game? Or even heard of it, I guess? Today is release day and I should be arriving home after work to a delivery from Amazon! I’m probably gonna nerd out all weekend, just wanted to see if anyone else had any interest in this game. It basically looks to be a retro-feeling/looking RPG in the style of old Final Fantasy games but told from the perspective of 8 characters. I’ll of course have more input after I start playing, but if anyone has anything to add, please discuss!

I just inherited a PS2 and am wondering what game(s) are the best to get into. Obviously it depends on personal taste but if you have any games you'd like to rave about, I'm all ears. Meaningful storylines and strategy make a game enjoyable for me. Here are some of the ones that stick out: Dark Cloud 2 (includes a Town Building element? But might be too cutesy) Beyond Good and Evil (anthropomorphic beasts, plot with depth, sci fi, photography, apparently similar to Zelda) ICO Shadow of the Colossus (looks fun, fight big bosses) FFX (I've beaten at a friends place but worth playing again) Kingdom Hearts (I think I played this while sick once but can't remember how far I got, something about a library) Any other ideas?
