Anthology Discussion - February 12th!

With only about three months until the next anthology is due, I thought I'd take a moment to see how everyone is doing with their anthology entries!

Feel free to share something about your anthology entry, or planned anthology entry, in the comments. Just a reminder, the two themes are In the Stars and Snapped.

Also, for veteran anthology authors, what is your favorite aspect of writing for the anthologies, and what advice would you give to authors who are contemplating writing their first anthology story?

If you're a new anthology author, what are you most concerned about concerning the anthology? Do you have any questions that the veteran authors may be able to answer for you?

Unsure what they anthologies are? You can read the guidelines here, and to check out last years anthology entries, just click on the banners below!

Happy Writing!!!!

I like the new possibility of having more than one author for a story. It's fun to collaborate (right, @aditus ?) - so I can recommend it, if you get stuck when on an Antho theme.

My favorite aspect of writing for the anthologies is finding questions to explore and try to answer.  I like using the anthologies to explore themes or writing styles I might not use otherwise.

My advice to new anthology authors is to just try it.  Remember you don't have to embrace the theme--a tangential link to it is all you need.

I have ideas for both themes, so I'm hoping to have two submissions this spring. :)

Okay, I'm a veteran too.  :whistle:Anthologies inspire me. Multi chapter stories are time consuming, at least for me.  Short stories are a chance to try something new.

I also love how the themes are inclusive, not exclusive.  Otherwise, some of them might have scared me off.  :P

I've written for 13 anthologies, does that make me veteran?  :gikkle:

This made me go count my own anthology participation.  I've participated in every anthology since Summer 2014.  Fourteen anthologies and twenty stories.   Can you tell I like them?  :gikkle:

Wow. That's impressive! I guess I'm a rookie with seven. :)  Three were for one anthology, though... the Winter Rewind: Pre-2016 themes. I loved having that kind of choice... it inspired me.

So something came to me in a dream last night. Now can it be made into a readable story? Hmmmm.

This'll be my fifth, so not a veteran number-wise, but I've done every anthology so far since I became an author. So perhaps more a serial contributor or something ... I've not really settled down to my current attempt. I've decided this weekend'll be spent pushing it on, hopefully.

Maybe, possibly, this time around. I had an idea when the theme came out, wrote about 1000 words and put it away.. Now to see if they make an actual story.
