Weekly Wrap Up (May 2nd-May 8th)

view of wooden rollercoaster from the sideSurprise!

No, we didn't go back in time, and it's not an April Fool's week joke. ;) But I am bringing you this week's Wrap Up, so buckle your seat belts... it may be a bumpy ride! It's been a while since I did a Wrap Up, so I hope I don't forget anything.  What's the bumpiest ride or scariest ride you've ever been on? For me, it was an old wooden rollercoaster. I thought my brains would rattle out! 🥴Oh, and FYI it's the final few weeks before the anthology submission. 🕚 Get that writing done, fast and furious, so your story is ready!

Monday started off with the feature of another staff member's writing work, @Graeme Read this short story and revisit the Discussion blog on Monday, May 🗓️!

This Friday @comicfan brought us 2 more prompts. Which prompt will you choose? First Line or a Magic Kingdom....

How did our authors and readers do this week? SO close on a few goals, but we didn't quite meet any. Let's get those goals this week!!

"The Voyage" at Holiday World. My best friend had just cracked my fear of roller coasters, so I went on the newest one the park had built. It was all fun and games until the coaster started it's MASSIVE descent, and my teenage body started slipping through the safety bar atop my lap. I gripped onto that bar with my arms, clinging to dear life with shut eyelids until the ride ended. I haven't been on a coaster in nearly fifteen years.

It was a ride at Six Flags, I think.  Me and my sister's friend were the only ones brave enough (i.e. stupid enough) to try it.  We got strapped into a harness, hauled up to a crazy height between two towers, then dropped down and swung back and forth.  Oh, and it was a night, so it was done in mostly darkness.

(Would totally do it again).

Mine was on a Light Observation Helo in Vietnam.  The pilot was practicing flying nap of the earth after he picked me up in the bush so I could catch my flight home going on leave for my first wedding anniversary in January 1972.....and no I didn't barf!

I love roller-coaster, but I did go horseback riding once. I was eight. The saddle wasn't fastened all the way and my foot got caught in the stirrup. My eight year old memory remembers riding completely sideways on the horse for 10 miles, though it was probably only a minute or so. Maybe seconds. Regardless, I thought I was going to die.

Contrary to the popular saying, I did not get right back on the horse.

Or any of the times I road in a car in Paris.
