In case anyone was curious...

I took a few weeks off from GA.  I don't know if anyone noticed or if I was missed, but just in case anyone was curious, here is why:

I get depression sometimes.  It's usually seasonal, but sometimes it comes on for no reason at all and this time, it was bad.

I broke my foot.  I am hobbling around in a boot right now, my coworkers and patients think its hilarious and it didn't do much to improve my mood.  Also, it is very tiring to walk around 10 hours a day with what is basically an 6-8 lb weight strapped to your leg.

I got burned out on writing.  For the first time in my life.

So I stopped.  Everything.  No writing, no GA, no talking about it to anyone.

I think I'm over the worst of it.  I wrote a little bit on my latest project (It's called Hazardous) it just hit the 100K mark.  It's looking to be a three book series once it's completed. I don't know when that will be.  I am open for a beta reader or editor if anyone is interested.

I'm not ready to jump back in.  So I might be lurking around, but not particularly chatty.  I hate disappearing without a word but I need to do a much better job of taking care of myself.  A much, much better job.

So that's where I'm at.  I would love to hear what everyone else has been up to this summer.  I did miss GA while I was away.

On some happier news: I am learning Italian and French.  I am going to Italy and Greece next summer with my family and a trip to France tentatively planned for 2025.  So that'll be fun.  I'm also reading more.  I read Where the Crawdads Sing, which was just as good as everyone said it was, and right now I'm reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which is also really good and not what I thought it was going to be (in a good way).

Of course you were missed   Sorry to hear about your struggles.  I know what it's like when depression hits hard, and it's not fun :(  I tend to go radio silent when it happens to me too.  Your travels sound amazing!  One of these days I'll hop the pond myself and get to Europe.  I've been learning German for over two years now.  Welcome back!

I hope you're better and back soon, @CassieQ

Italian and French at the same time. That's impressive. I know how difficult it is to learn a language or maybe it's just me. I've been butchering the French language for ten years now.

Hey @CassieQ, it's been a while since we chatted (probably since we met in DC with Q). Sorry to hear about the writer's block and other stuff.

For me, I've gotten into writing a bit more recently. Over the last year, I've realized reading more mainstream gay fiction books and writing reviews about them is helping me get the writing juices flowing. Not sure if that will help you, but I could suggest a few interesting new books that might get your imagination brewing.

I missed you, and hope you'll soon be back on form. Learning French and Italian sounds an excellent plan. I find that learning things can be very soothing as well as satisfying.
