Lesson's learned while at GA

At times I can be stubborn, but I've looked back over my time here at GA and found that I've come to accept (note accept, not tolerate) two facts:

1) Some guys who claim to be bisexual really are bisexual.

2) Some Gay Fiction readers skip over the sex scenes.

For guys who claimed to be bisexual, I always assumed that they were just in denial, confused, or were just on a journey towards pure gayness. I knew better. I looked them in the eyes with a knowing look (well, as much as you can look someone in the eyes via the internet). But after much debate and discussion, I do believe there are true bisexuals.

I still believe that some identified bisexuals are in denial, confused, etc, but there are some real ones.

The other fact is harder to get my hands around. I mean, skip the sex scenes? Why even read the stories? I can see women skipping them over, or those who've been assigned to read the stories by some crafty English Lit Teaching Assistant, but gay guys? .

*Sigh*, I don't know, maybe it's because I turned 40 this year, but I accept that they're out there. They've taken our abuse and disdain for too long, but now they have my sympathy and acceptance.

Vic

P.S. - Domluka is close to breaking 400,000 views on his blog. Even if you consider 100,000 of those views were mine, that still leaves about 300,000 others! Wow! Having him return from his hiatus has sure made this more fun for me. I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present :D

Isn't it also true that maybe some of those that said GAY maybe be BI?

As for #2, in a good story, I do read the sex scene (if any) ... if I want poorly written ones or an overload of sex => there's Nifty

If its written really good (even explicit) then it comes from a gifted writer

But I gather from what you're saying in #2, there has to be more to meaning of love than just purely sex.

oh oh oh!!!

I skip sex scenes!

Not all the time but mostly yeah. I don't care to read them quite frankly, and it depends on where the sex scene is. but meh. its not all that interesting.... especially in a story that i want to read for the sake of reading a good story, but whateva. im weird.

I'm with James on this. I usually find myself skipping the sex scenes, particularly on stories that I'm reading for the plot. THis is partially due to the fact that I often skip long descriptions on any story, and hunt down the dialog. Sex scenes fall through the cracks there.

The stories that are unabashed porn are a whole 'nother kettle of fish. If they are particularly well written, I'll come back later and reread the same scene again.

Stop encouraging him, you're going to scare Dom, causing him to flee 'StalkerVic'.

Actually, it's Vic who'd have to worry about fleeing. I have family members who would happily march him down the isle at gunpoint if they thought I was gettin' hitched.

Aww, my new inlaws are so cute. They're going to love the dowry I'm going to give them. :D

LOL There is just something about the sex scenes in stories here on GA that just don't do too much for me. Sometimes I skip over them, not even going to lie. I'm more into romance than lust. Which when you write about sex, usually it seems to be more on the lust factor. That's just my opinion though =]

About "real" bi's, I have just to say that I'm one of them :P , and an happy one ! :D

And the sex scenes in GA stories are just an occasion to refresh the good old memories from my last 65 years (I had my first experiences when I was 14) .

I'm confused. Are you saying that there are sex scenes and people don't read them? Or are you saying there aren't enough sex scenes? Speaking purely from a personal POV, I skip over reading sex scenes because that's not why I'm reading the story in the first place. If they're tactfully written and contribute to the overall story, then I'll read them. As for writing them, I don't for two reasons. One, because I believe that to be against GA's rules for eFiction and two, because that isn't where I want my readers to focus. I hope that what I write is good enough that they'll enjoy it anyway.

As for bisexuals, I'm glad you've changed your mind.

I'm confused. Are you saying that there are sex scenes and people don't read them? Or are you saying there aren't enough sex scenes?

I'm saying both, I guess. :D

For example, Domluka's story The Lo(n)g Way had well written & probably just enough sex scenes in it (of course this is all IMHO). I've heard that some readers skip over these sex scenes. So Yes to your first inquiry B) .

More recent stories by this same author have fewer sex scenes, if none at all. Much is left to our imagination to fill in the blanks. If you're interested in background and discussion about this, there's a thread How does Dennis like it in the Domaholic's forum where the topic was resurrected. I also added some links to other threads on the topic.

So for inquiry #2, Yes, I would like more sex scenes in these later stories B) . But please note, this is not a demand or pleading for more sex in the stories. I thoroughly enjoy the stories as is (with or without sex scenes).

Hope this answers your questions.

Take Care®,

2) Some Gay Fiction readers skip over the sex scenes.

What if the reason I skip over sex scenes is that I get too embarrassed to read them? What if I'm ... deeply ashamed to read of my beloved characters doing icky gay things... !?

Just kidding. I don't like sex scenes that stall the story, but otherwise, I love them. ^_^
