somuchtolearn 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Hey Dom spare a thought for us Brits who hang on to your every episode - no Thanksgiving weeked for us, so you COULD post 14 if you wanna ..... anyway looking forward to 13! Neil PS Sorry to hear your news - hope things brighten up for you soon and your family finds strength from being together over the holiday.
NickolasJames8 807 Posted November 19, 2005 Hey Dom, Im really sorry to hear about the death in your family. Even if you werent close, it really sucks. Also, sorry to hear about someone betraying your trust. Im not too sure what to think about elk steak (hmmm..lol), but I want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving anyway, just in case I dont get a chance to before it comes around.... BTW, Im thankfull this year for Dom Luka posting capter 13 of DD...nothing else(lol...jk)...... Kisses Nickolas
rknapp 32 Posted November 19, 2005 Sorry about your loss. I know what you are going through, my only surviving grandparent passed in September, and that was far from easy. If the family insists on the road kill dinner, start a picket line outside the house, to alert the neighbors to this abomination. Elk on Turkey Day is blasphemy!
NaperVic 161 Posted November 19, 2005 At least Elk steak is real meat. I went to a Thanksgiving Dinner a couple years ago where they serve Tofurkey Vic
Tim the Traveller 12 Posted November 19, 2005 if you lived in a desolate place like minnasoohta or wizconzin like i do , then elk or deer steak or roast would be perfectly acceptable--as long as they on the side of a turkey!! u gotta have turkey on turkey day. OK enuff of my opinion----NEXT
Rocketcnj 2 Posted November 19, 2005 Elk...I didn't even know they killed Elk? for dinner? What kind of Tradition is that? Look we Italians have the Italian delicious stuff but it is with the Turkey.... I don't recall the story of the Pilgrims eating a stuffed Elk and pumpkin pie...ELK?!! Well since you can't give the family the bird...maybe you can bring a Turkey and beg Mom to cook it:) Sorry to hear of the death of a family member. Condolences and sympathies to you and your family. Michael
DomLuka 7,528 Posted November 19, 2005 LOL. Actually, Elk is common around here. My dad hunts every year, and we don
AFriendlyFace 191 Posted November 19, 2005 Well since you can't give the family the bird...maybe you can bring a Turkey and beg Mom to cook it:) Michael LOL Michael, I found that very amusing. Dom's right Elk is good. I'm something of a pacifist and have enough guilt over killing bugs and stuff, so I'd never shoot an elk myself, but growing up I had a friend who always went elk and deer hunting, it really is quite good. I like turkey too though, but since I haven't had elk in longer, I'd probably prefer that. Heck the tofo turkey doesn't sound half bad either, I love tofo and haven't had it in quite awhile either. But I can readily understand the importance of tradition, it's just never that traditional at my house. I come from a VERY small family, it's usually just 6 of us for Thanksgiving dinner, and no one cooks we just go pick it up at one of the places that caters Thanksgiving meals. This year since two of the six usual guests are ticked off it'll only be four of us, and considering that the other three live together anyway, I'll be the extent of the family coming home for Thanksgiving.....So it probably wouldn't really matter what we had. I'm very sorry to hear about the death in your family Dom, it must be even harder right around the holidays too, my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family. It also sucks that someone betrayed your trust. But don't give up, not all people are like that, and even that person may have just "messed up", and may regret it. Anyway best wishes and I can't wait for Chapter 13 of DD
rknapp 32 Posted November 19, 2005 Well since you can't give the family the bird...maybe you can bring a Turkey and beg Mom to cook it:) Michael I'll be the extent of the family coming home for Thanksgiving..... Well damn, so am I! We're having dinner at our house without the aunts/uncles/cousins/great cousins, and my sister isn't coming home, she wants to go watch Rent with her friends and go to a comic book convention in Pittsburgh instead (I love you too sis!) lmao. So it's just me who is visiting!... Even though this is still my permanent address.
Davey 9 Posted November 19, 2005 Firstly im sorry for your familys loss Secondly YAY! Ive so got something to look forward to tomorrow!
Navigator 1 Posted November 19, 2005 I hope you have a better day tomorrow and a great Turkey day. Turkey and footbal, yeah that's definitely one of the good things in life.
kalkay 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I like the idea of Thanksgiving but really the fact that the meal has to be a certain way and no other is so boring. You americans need a bit more fantasy.

You americans need a bit more fantasy. that may be, but we need our 1 day of the year to reduce the turkey population, otherwise they run wild in the streets and then they get elected as president, so yes we definitely need our turkey day!(too bad its not fantasy:)

Dom, Sorry to hear about the bad news. I'll second somuchtolearn's statement... don't you know Thanksgiving is in October ??? It's not a holiday here in Canada but I do have a 4 day weekend since I work out of a US office... you gotta give me something to do other than ponder how to speed up global warming to get rid of this damn snow! Cheers! Steve

jon 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Dom, I'm sorry to hear about your bad news. I know things kind of snowball on us, you know, all those little things that grate on our nerves, and then people disappoint us, and then we get news like you just mentioned. I hope things get better for you and someone good crosses your path to help lighten your load a bit. Everything has a season, good and bad, so hang on and wait for the good stuff to start happening. (I might have known I could not get through a whole message without starting the "cliche" sayings...bah!) On a different note, words cannot describe how gald I am that DD is underway again I totally love the story, as I do prettymuch every other thing you write. Some people get all the talent. Haha. Anyway Dom, I wish you lots of R&R and all the other warm fuzzy things to make you feel better.
