Just a bit ago I was asked by a member on a yahoo group about my favorite stories here on GA. I could have gone on forever and I probably sound like an advertisement.

But it got me thinking.... of how I read ALL of these great stories and I hardly/rarely leave the author's any feedback.

It got me wondering what the author's want to hear... sure they probably get a lot of "Great Chapter", "Excellent Work" or "Darn you CliffJames".

I feel like I am being redundant when I mention what other people have already said. So normally don't bother saying anything.

I guess author's knowing they are appreciated is a great feeling... Maybe I should just try harder to find something to say?

Here is the email I sent.... to show some of author's they are greatly appreciated.

GA has tons of stories both in E-ficton, Promising Authors and Hosted Authors.

Here are a few that I read:

Last goodbye by Meeko (found in efiction)

It Started with Brian by Dan Kincaid

Are you Christian by Krista

Bloodlines (and the whole beginning of the series) by Mark Arbour

Fly Me Away by brokendreamboi (found in efiction, I also recommend all of his other stories)

The Tide Begins to Rise by Tim White

Any of the stories by DomLuka (he's a hosted author and on a bit of a hiatus)

Any of CJames work. Currently between stories (commonly known as CliffJames (tons of cliff hangers))

Comicality is also a great hosted writer.... updates about once a month or so.

AfriendlyFace is a great Promising Author... nothing recently but still all around great stories.

Nicholas James has tons of great stories too.

LittleBudda is on a hiatus but has some really great stories he's written.

You will notice tons of cross posters between Nifty and GA.

Now I sound like a GA Author promoter..... Many of these are people I follow and read quite a bit of their work. They are all very talented and write some really great stories.

I can now also add the Sparkling Combustion is now also on the eFiction site.....

I recommend you join and so you can leave the authors some feedback. I do occassionly post in the forums... offer my two cents.

Any mistake in grammar are because I am tired and have to be at work tomorrow at 8 am for 10 hour shift, I work 4 days 10 hours each (Wednesday-Saturday). I work in a Cell phone call center here in Maryland and commute an hour each way. I do get tons of interesting calls, but that's a whole another blog in itself.

I can't speak for any other authors but, as for myself... I am incredibly happy and fulfilled just to have someone read my stories. If someone posts a review or a comment it lifts me for the whole day. I get rediculously excited. For me the best kind of reviews are those who actually say something about the way they feel about the story, the characters etc... which ask questions I can answer... which make me think... which offer suggestions or comments on how I can make my writing better. I am more than happy to accept criticism as well as praise because that helps me grow. I am unfailingly surprised when someone writes about my characters in a discussion thread (which I have never had the courage to start for myself) and it is amazing when they seem to get into the story and the characters. The height of praise and satisfaction is when someone says that something I wrote connects with them, or inspires them or touches them... because isn't that what life is about... making connections with people, touching their lives, having them touch you.

I try to comment on every story I read in a positive way, although I do point out if I think there are things that could make the story better because that is what I would want, what I need to grow. At the end of the day a review is a connection, even if it is only says... hey I read it... it makes a link between yourself and the person who wrote the story... touching lives again, weaving threads, enriching the tappestry of life. :)
