The Meeting (update)

Mark Arbour

After that meeting last Friday, "Jack" has pretty much avoided me. No, not pretty much. He's totally avoided me. It was funny, because he saw me in the Student Center yesterday and took off in the other direction. What a pussy. It's not like I'm going to kick his ass.

It's so f**king passive/aggressive, and so typical of academia. A colleague said he was pissed off because my proposal didn't include any of his courses, and I didn't include him in the development of some of the new ones (there are three). wacko.gif

sounds like a case of "you didn't invite me to your party so I'm gonna tell everyone your party sucks and I didn't want to go anyway"aleric-cry.gif

bleh, is this guy still emotionally in high school or what?

it sucks that he tried to shoot you down in front of your coworkers, but most likely your peers will see the diatribe for what it is. much of the time people like this are only really successful at making themselves look like total asses.

Hey Mark, I'm just a little astonished. Normally you are such a strong person .

Why should you be impressed by such a stupid behaviour ?

Take it easy :great: . There are so much more interesting things to do than to search a reason for it.

It sounds like he thinks that you are going to kick his ass. :chris:

Now that would be something academia would talk about for decades.

academic #1: Remember when Mark kicked Duberson's ass?

academic #2: Now that was cool. It's the last real thing that happened here... ever.

LMAO!!!!

Here's a more probable reaction:

Academic 1 says: I thought that was truly reprehensible, the way Arbour used physical violence with Duberson. That kind of behavior has no place in this institution.

Academic 1 thinks: Holy f**k. I hope he doesn't kick my ass too. I think I'll avoid him.

It looks like "John"/Jack was looking out for his own agenda and course curriculum and was pissed that you did not include him. Corner the ba$tard and let him know that he royally screwed up. Wonder if he really was a "friend"?

I think that at the first meeting I would have stood up and said, "You know, you bring up some interesting points. Perhaps you would like to be on a committee to help avert some of the issues that you mentioned."

Nothing shuts a fool up faster than a opportunity to further show his ignorance.
