methodwriter85 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 First off, I gotta say. I'm SHOCKED beyond shocked that Mark got to this sequel already. I really thought it'd be about late summer. I mean, now the Cramptons are only 14 years behind us. They'll be at present day with just a few more stories. Secondly, I consider the mid-1990's to be my "era", so to speak, so it'll be fun doing this music. Chapter 1 -When Greg and Stefan argue, and then Stefan bolts for Brad's house. Mark Arbour Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Chapter 2 "Brian Wilson" by Barenaked Ladies Excellent Choice! 1
methodwriter85 Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Excellent Choice! Were you familiar with it before? I like introducing people to songs they never heard before. Brian Wilson wasn't a particularly well-known song at the time.. 1
Mark Arbour Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Were you familiar with it before? I like introducing people to songs they never heard before. Brian Wilson wasn't a particularly well-known song at the time.. I was, and not to burst your bubble, but it was well-known here in this cultural wasteland. 1
methodwriter85 Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 You have burst my bubble, Mark. Here I was, picturing 'Brian Wilson' as this incredibly obscure song that only college kids from that era would know, that my genius was able to dig up, and you go ahead and tell me that you'd already heard of it. Damn. 1
Mark Arbour Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 You have burst my bubble, Mark. Here I was, picturing 'Brian Wilson' as this incredibly obscure song that only college kids from that era would know, that my genius was able to dig up, and you go ahead and tell me that you'd already heard of it. Damn. Now Jeremy, half the fun is having you dredge up songs that bring back memories, and are evocative of the era. If you only used obscure songs, then that wouldn't work. It requires a deft blend, something you're good at. Besides...firmly ensconced in my top 10 favorite groups is "The Beach Boys." Brian Wilson? Hell yeah. 1

Tiger Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) If I remember correctly, one of my favorite songs came out in 1995, Waterfalls by TLC, which also happened to be the second biggest hit of the year. Should someone in the story do something totally self-destructive and die because of it, it'd be a good one to add. Edit to add: I suppose a link to the song would be good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-n-jZJhpT4 Also, Sheryl Crow's debut album came out in 1993. Several of the songs were released in 1994, and there are some memorable ones like "All I Wanna Do", "Strong Enough" (Are you strong enough to be my man <hint, hint>), and Leaving Las Vegas. *sigh* It seems so long ago. It so reminds me of younger days thinking about such music. Oh, and 1994 was when Madonna's songs "Take a Bow" and "Human Nature" came out... such awesome tunes! Edited July 12, 2009 by Tiger

Gee Jeremy, With helpful suggestions like that, maybe you can get back up to 4 songs per chapter.
methodwriter85 Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Gee Jeremy, With helpful suggestions like that, maybe you can get back up to 4 songs per chapter. Hey, I consider three songs per chapter to be plenty, man. Don't be dissin' me, homie. *wink* Tiger, thanks for the suggestion. There's one downward spiral about to happen, but I actually have another song picked out for that over "Waterfalls". I loved that song and the video, so I'll try and see if I can find something else for it.

I loved that song and the video, so I'll try and see if I can find something else for it. It was just a thought. It was definitely the quintessential summer song of 1995. It also featured the best performances of the late Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez. Oh, and if there's cheating, Creep is a good one. Or... for a steamy sex scene, there's Red Light Special. See? Right there you've got 3 awesome songs to choose from. I remember that era in music so well, which is surprising since I was like 12 at the time.
