Good drama comes from extreme events and what could be more extreme than something that breaks or shatters that thin veneer that we call "civilization"?

 

What is released when that is destroyed?

 

What happens in the twilight of our world?

 

Is it the birth agony of a new world or the death rattle of the old?

Hmm, I'll finish my novella first, but I'll join for a short story.

James, thanks for the inspiration. The first such book I read was "Earth Abides." It was not in print, then, and may not be readily available, but if you can get it through interlibrary loan, it's definately worth reading.

It's a good book, well worth reading.

Did we get an answer to this? I might actually share for the first time, I just don't want to post a ridiculously small story, we all have different ideas of short stories. Oh, and any idea of a timeline yet?
