Clydee Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I said five chapters, not five weeks. I actually have the next chapter started, but I haven't finished it yet, so it will be a bit. It's been a busy few months, but I'm hoping I'll actually find some writing time over the holidays. I figured you were busy and I was just goosing you along...figuratively... and I meant the last chapter was over a week ago. Never mind, I was just whining!
DragonFire Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Read Comsie's stories & await uodates... you'll learn patience very quickly. Mark is the fastest writer on GA, just give him some luvvin & the chapters will come quick enough.

Rosicky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Merry Christmas, Mark! And a Happy Christmas to George and the Crew! Thanks for a year of great writing and adventure!
Mark Arbour Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks guys. Probably not a Granger Christmas. I'll work on his exploits as soon as I can though.

DannySilz Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 What do you think guys, I wonder who were all the men that "iniciated" Granger into the "Brotherhood/Sexual Ring" besides the ones that have come up already. The ones he mentioned as old and not so young gentlemen that got fellatio from him. Maybe some Admirals like Chatham or Spencer?:2hands: Which coud mean more protection for Granger and his"interests", anyway. He describes a shorty one, hopefully not a Wilcox  !! Makes no-sense I know! But then, wouldn't that be a turn of events for George Granger? Making out with the enemy? A consequence of his sluttiness? On the other hand poor Cpt. Travers paid hard not being of more elite! He's got his rear and spirit destroyed by the "giant". it break my heart when granger recognizes he has lost the respect he felt for him when he finds him traumatized. There cannot be true love without respect for each other!!! No wonder he f*cked Cavendish's brains out for the rest of that mission!!! He was hurting! I don't know where to place Calvert in the future but he deserves good. Granger is really slutty when it comes to love interests. But what 19 year old, rich, handsome and horny dude wouldn't do in a cage/ship for months in a row, but release himself at the first chance, giving the sexual tension in every man/boy in the ship would be sofocating and he wouldn't be the only one looking up the that chance! Which brings me to the "release" episode the Doctor offered Granger some time ago. Was it only because his patient "needed" to release stress... Mmmh... Mark is real smart by not telling us how the doctor enjoyed it or was just a "medical" treatment in his behalf. I see potential here... And then there is Winkler. Young, innocent (well not so much anymore but still...) Could he be secretely "in-love" with George? Not too difficult for a teen to fall for his hero/boss/protector. Did Winkler started making with/interested in men because of watching and hearing Granger and his lovers moanning and doing their best to destroying the cots and beds while he slept outside his cabin and bedrooms door. That's gotta be hell for any 14 or 15 year old! Poor thing! Granger being so sexually active I am glad the lad has not turn into a sexual maniac by now !!! Until Mark matched him up with Jeffers, all we could think of Winkler was for sure he was wanking it for dear life -like there was no tomrrow- on those nights ! I am desperate to get the new chapters, but Mark, please do not hurry. I know it is not easy to write historical novels. It is a long shot for Granger to reach Admiral giving he is only 19 and admirals don get the honor until at least upper forties, but please do not chop the series with Belvidera. There still a lot more to do with this characters! I am really intrigued in the developing and maturing of George emotions. His dick is still a train in full force with no breaks, but his mind and heart are taking serious changes... he has starrting to evaluate the art of love versus the love making. Can't wait for more, Mark! 1
centexhairysub Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I miss George as well, as much as I love the CAP series, I can't wait for this one to pick back up... I do agree that writing stories from this far is the past takes more time for research and authenticity issues; so no matter how much I want or need a fix, I know Mark is working as fast as he can... I would think because of how far in the past this story is that the future would be almost unlimited for the number of future stories. I look forward to years of enjoyment from this series... 2

I agree completely. I couldn't believe my luck when I discovered this story. It's my favorite genre...oh yes, I love Hornblower and the Patrick O'Brian series and having a gay theme to the Bridgemont stories really was the topping on the cake! Mark writes these so well, it's easy to get absorbed in them and I hate it when there's a long delay, knowing of course that it does take a lot of research to write these. I hope he has plans for many more stories like these to come. 1
Mark Arbour Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 I posted a new chapter, finally, and no one says anything?
centexhairysub Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 :pickaxe: :pickaxe: :pickaxe: I really enjoyed the latest chapter of HMS Belvidera. I enjoy seeing how much Granger has grown as a person, and yes I know he isn't a real person but... I do worry that Granger and Travers will grow apart, part of me believes they are destined to be together in some way forever but the social differences in that time in history would be hard to overcome even with the Royal Navy acting as somewhat of an equalizer. I really hope that when Granger gets back to London, we get to have him spend a little time there. I know that as a Captain in the Royal Navy his primary duty is to be at sea; but some really interesting things seem to happen when he is on land... I wonder what aristocrat he will rescue on his way home??? Keep up the good work Mark and thanks for this chapter update... I posted a new chapter, finally, and no one says anything? I was savoring the story and formulating my posting.... 1
Ivy Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Thank you for the update Mark! I'm at work and had to wait till lunch break to read it. I agree that Georgie is maturing emotionally and may realize at some point that his first true love (Travers) relationship had a lot of hero worship mixed in- which looks like it is fading as his own self confidence emerges. Not that he wasn't always confident, but he is young and now he is truly beginning to realize his place in the grand scheme of things. I see him now as a man, whereas before it was like he was a "kid" playing at being a grown up in grown up situations.
Clydee Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I posted a new chapter, finally, and no one says anything? You've caught me off guard!!! Good chapter, and the interplay with Travers got me to thinking...are they growing apart? I'm not entirely certain, but I feel the love they've experienced in the past has diminished somewhat. I guess it would be inevitable that Granger's love would taper off since he's also in love with....lesseee...three or four others and in lust with everyone else! There's only so much room, I would think, for love. Anyway, they'll work it out or maybe not, we'll see. Can't wait for the next chapter, now that he's headed for England. Jervis must have put some recommendations for George in his dispatches to the Admiralty so I'm anxious to see what you have in store. Love this story!!
Graham Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hello Mark, I'm an ex Royal Navy person in the UK. I would like to say that I really enjoy this story. (The chapters are a little slow in coming, but I understand it is not an easy process with all the technicality involved) I am quite a fan of the 'Nelson' era in the RN and wondered if you were thinking/planning any more stories along these lines. CM Forrester is one of my favourite authors and his Hornblower series was/is one of my all time favourites. It is such a treat to read a story like this from the ‘Gay’ perspective. The old adage of ‘Rum, Bum and Baccy’ was always an ‘in’ joke in the RN, but I’m not so sure it was/is a joke. I’m so looking forward to the next chapters, I check every day. Gx 1

Gx Mark is truly a wonderful writer. My favorite in fact. He used to do roughly a chapter a week but Cap got in his head and you have to make hay while the sun shines. He was asked once if there would be more of the HMS series after this and I believe he said yes, that there was another yet in his head but that may have changed. I hope not, but then again I'd like it to go on until the present day RN. But as the old addage says, "If wishes were horses then beggars would ride, If turnips were watches then I'd wear one on my side and if wishes were fishes we'd have a fish fry." But hopefully, there will be more. HMS is certainly a "read more than once" kind of story and I shall certainly convert it to audio and put it on my favorite list of audio books on my GPS for those long drive to DC and back. Thanks Mark, your craft is exemplary and truly enjoyable. R 1

Gx I'm so glad you like it, especially since you're ex-RN. I love this era, and in fact it was the Hornblower series that first got me into it. I was 12 at the time, and read "Beat to Quarters." I spent hours poring over books, looking at pictures, and trying to visualize what life must have been like. I'm planning to follow George through as long as he lives, or as long as I have stamina. I don't always get the chapters out quickly, they tend to sprint and drift, but I do my best. We should be finished up with this one shortly, then I'll plan out the next one. It will take place in 1797(mostly), and I'll try to get as many of the exciting events of that year worked in. I think the most research I've done was on The Wardroom, and the occupation of Toulon. There is much written from a military perspective (Napoleon has that impact) but not much from the naval point of view. The next few chapters were also a lot to work out. Mark is truly a wonderful writer. My favorite in fact. He used to do roughly a chapter a week but Cap got in his head and you have to make hay while the sun shines. Graham Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hi Mark, I’m grateful for your reply – thank you. I was on HMS Victory two weeks ago; I’m not sure if you know that HMS Victory is still a commissioned ship in the RN, I have included a url to its web site. One of the people I joined the RN with, hired HMS Victory for his leaving party. So I was having cocktails in the wardroom on Nelsons Flag ship, my mind wandered to your story – it was fun being on such a ship and reminding myself of what it was like, but your version of events lol Gx http://www.hms-victory.com/

centexhairysub Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 :pickaxe: :pickaxe: :pickaxe: Loved Chapter 41, it was great to get two chapters of this story so close to each other... I love how Granger just never gets rattled. He is able to remain calm and deal with the situation in a logical manner no matter what is going on inside his head. This is partly due to his upbringing and station but some of it is just that he is one cool customer. I wonder were in the hell Mann's fleet was? Granger will be able to stick it to Mann when he gets back to London and reports this. Can't wait for the next chapter of this story. Keep up the great work Mark, we appreciate you so much.....

Mann arbitrarily quit his station off Cadiz in July and just sailed home to England, in contravention of Admiralty orders and Jervis' orders. Langara escorted Richery out into the Atlantic, then left a force of Spanish ships with him to attack Newfoundland. Solano had overall command of that fleet. Langara himself returned to the Mediterranean, to Cartagena.
