albertnothlit Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 What if you could go back in time, and change that one day when you decided to come out? The Portal deals with that question, a flash fiction story just about 1500 words long. Let me know what you think!Read it here: The Portal by Albert Nothlit https://www.gayauthors.org/story/albertnothlit/theportal_2015
WestcliffWriter Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Will check it out Albert, but did you want people to answer the question? If you did... No I didnt! 1
JamesSavik Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 If you can manage to come out on your own terms at a time of your choosing, I doubt that anyone would regret it. Being outted before you're emotionally ready and/or way too young is a disaster. 1

JamesSavik Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I regret HOW and WHEN I came out. I was outed way, way before I was ready in a very hostile environment that instantly became abusive. That's why I stress to our young-lings that they need to be really careful about how they go about it. It hurts me- I mean really messes me up- when I see kids going through some of the same shit I did. There's no need for it and, it leaves scars that are very slow to heal. 1
albertnothlit Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 I feel for you, James - it's true, sometimes it's best to wait until conditions are right.
lovesickpuppy Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I came out a little bit in college, then went monastic again because I was like a monk before (I've never been good at calling myself a nun). I came out fully to someone special, an unrequited love.It was a series of letting everyone know I was queer. Am i a true lesbian? I like to think myself as one. 1
lovesickpuppy Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Just got the chance to read it. Wow. Thanks for sharing a well-written story! 1
