No, i had rent to pay. Seriously? My old dentist went to the super bowl every year, drove a Porsche and sent 3 kids to university. However, he only took what the insurance would pay, except for the odd time, and one time just before Xmas my insurance was used up but i broke a tooth. He fixed it.. and then we went to the front desk.. I got my credit card out and he put his hand on mine and said, no.. Merry Christmas. Won't forget that. Sadly, he died two years ago from some nasty cancer.. didn't get to retire even... worked right to the end. i miss him. He was a good man. 3 1 1 3

Going to the dentist is pretty pricy here, too, but not prohibitively so, I think, at least where I usually go. My dentist is a very sweet Indian lady. 6 1

Once he said when we said no thank you, he said, take it home with you! He was funny too. Very gentle wonderful man. You’ve reminded me of the family physician I went to as a child. I was seven and had an appt. with him prior to be being admitted to SickKids for surgery - I admired a porcelain tortoise that he had on his desk. To make me feel better - I’m guessing - he gave it to me. I still have it 45 years later. Looking at it takes me back to that day. It’s nice when someone impacts your life so positively, isn’t it? Replaced the weblink with a picture of the tortoise that sits on my bookshelf. Quote Rare WADE PORCELAIN FIGURINE SLOW FE TORTOISE. This item was manufactured for the Chiba Greigy Pharmaceutical firm in the Inited Kingdom between 1969 and 1970. It was given as a promotional gift to medical personnel to promote a Slow age (ferrum/iron) product. It is 3” nose to tail and about 1 1/2” high. Edited June 29, 2019 by Reader1810 1 5

Aw, that is just wonderful... these stories are terrific examples of how something so small can make a huge difference to someone. Thanks for sharing that Reader. xoxo 5

They are useful. We've had them in the bedroom for a couple of years. They are still white and they get the afternoon sun everyday. They haven't fallen off.. i think we got 3 in a box for about $13. 6
