Same to reheat things. But I think it's a very American/British and by extension Australia maybe Canada too thing to eat corn like that. 

Us French rarely eat corn and I've never heard someone cooking it like that. Saw someone on Reddit who said that their mother would keep leftover food sitting out on the counter, un-refrigerated. She couldn't understand why it was growing mold several days later. In her mind, "cooked" meant "safe from spoilage".
