I also had one with French doors and loved it.  It was easier organize and get things in and out.  Besides, I'm getting old enough that trying to pick something off the floor takes effort.  A bottom freezer would have the same problem for me.

I'm not as... seasoned as my dear bro Terry, but I concur.  I've had side-by-side my entire life, and whenever I go to my buddy's house, he has one of those freezer on bottom things and it's a major pain in the ass.  I've actually had some back issues since my early 20s, so bending down like that is always something to be careful of.
