I don't have male friends mostly cause in my field of studies they're very few. I had one in high school but we grew apart along the year, going in different direction. 

Except the 2 closest friends I have I'd say my brother and SIL are my closest friends too.

I don't have many friends, so those I have I consider like best friends. Other people are "friends" but more because of classes so more like friends from opportunities (don't know if that makes sense 🤨)

I suppose that's the common denominator: growing apart year after year, which eventually leads to losing contact.

My best friend moved to the USA (fortunately not to Texas) when I turned thirteen, and he twelve. We reconnected years later through Facebook. He came out to me, I came out to him (what were the chances!). Our friendship remains the same. Last year, he came to the country for a few days, and asked if I was up to meet him and his husband. And no, I didn't make any moves on the man (what kind of frog do you think I am?!).

I'm glad there's at least one person in the world who's known me for what feels like forever, and still considers me a friend.

I love that story, short though it is. I have three buddies from the old neighborhood when I was a kid: a guy named Jessie, who lives on a horse ranch about one mile down the road from my parents' house. And then there's Danny and his brother, Lachlan, who moved into the house across from mine, when I was around twelve or thirteen-ish.

Even though we've all gone our separate ways, we still keep in touch, and we meet about once a month or two. Danny is straight, Lachlan is gay, and Jessie is asexual. Almost makes you wonder if there really is something in the water.
