I used to do the pick your own following the harvest until the city folks turned it into an outting in the country and the prices skyrocketed.  The other day I stopped by the local blueberry farm. They were charging $2 per head to go out into the fields and $3 per pound ( about a pint) for the berries.  Or you could by them by the pint in the store there for $3.50 per pint.  Local grocery has em for $!.39 per pint. Similar with tomatoes.  Why would I go out, do their labor and pay extra if I can go to the local green grocer, pick comfortably standing upright and in an air conditioned room for much less?

Greetings Albert. Saddly, I'm waiting for the meds to kick in. After our walk this morning I took myself out to brekkie thinking I deserved a treat. I barely returned home when a terrible migraine took hold. This is the second in roughly 48 hours. Doesn't bode well for the effectiveness of the new med.

Think the key word here is "YET"

It's the same with cut your own Christmas tree... used to be cheap... now it's more than what you pay at a lot.... Ninety-five dollars for a five foot tree just north of here. 😮

You could always buy a rooted one in a pot, and plant it out somewhere after christmas...

I can't help but worry about her when she's not here. It only takes one person being careless with closing the gate. Apparently, there will be lots of people there, and his girlfriend has her until my son gets off work... and she is not the best with being attentive and watchful.
