Stories giving a 500 Inaccessible Error

The rest of the site seems to work fine. But when I tried to reply to a review on one of my stories, I found GA was timing out. I experimentally tried just clicking on the "Stories" tab, and the same thing happened.

Is anyone else seeing this?

The great wizard says we have been having issues with attacks on our servers, maybe that had something to do with it. I had issues for about five minutes thirty minutes ago.

It's just really weird that it affected part of the site, and only for some of us. Others in the DiC were getting to the stories just fine. Very strange. But at least it is back now.

I did reboot about 30 min ago of the server to clear some issues.  

@Wayne Gray There is an intermittent issue where some people, including myself, have a 1 min delay or so when the system is rebuilding your story recommendations. This happens every 24 hours or so on your first visit to the story system.  If you are not using suggestions, you can turn them off completely in your account settings in the stories section.

Ahhh. Okay. That is probably already explained somewhere. Sorry if that's the case. Thanks for explaining it. Now that I know the cause, I am fine waiting it out, because I do plan to use the Suggestion feature.

And I was looking at that as well since you've been talking about it the last day.  I was looking at Popular stories. And you have said that elsewhere before and I just now remembered. 😳

This issue has started recurring and isn't going away even after giving it some time. I now keep getting a 500 error, no matter how long I wait after trying to load stories. I've tried from multiple devices now, and I keep getting the error. I realized this was happening because I had attempted to upload (and set it to post on Thursday) the next chapter of my latest story, but I can't get to my work to do so.

Is anyone else seeing this? Or am I super lucky and it's just me? Keep in mind, you'll need to give it time, but after the first attempt, it should work after a minute or so.

This happens to me a few times now. I usually close Chrome and  re-open it. That usually allows me to access stories. I know, I use Chrome, I'm a jerk.  .

it looks like we got a corrupted input that was causing suggestions to lock up and build up a backlog.  I've cleared the cache and it's rebuilding.  issue should be gone and suggestiosn will show back up when rebuild is complete
