Faces for Mark's Stories

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I have Van pictured as the jocky blond boy-next-door with a long, Dutch-like face. Chad Faust has that about him. He's good-looking, but not cookie-cutter good-looking, which is also how I picture Van.

I know, right? Talk about a hunk! The actor is best known for playing Aqua Man on Smallville, but he's also on this Spike TV show called Blue MountainState. He plays this crazy football player- he's actually pretty funny on it.

Now for some On the Mark casting...

Chad Faust for Van, Mark's best friend?

He would be a great Calvert!

Yeah, I thought Colton Haynes really had that WASPy, All-American boy-next door look that Jack Hobart's son should have. And the freckles are just adorable.

Here are some profile pictures so you can really see how nice his cheekbones are:

JJ's still the elusive one. I'm thinking Sterling Knight, but Mark's not enthused. Here's how I see JJ's look...

1. He has to be blond. Preferably with curls or waves.

2. He has to have blue or green eyes.

2. He has to look WASP.

3. His features need to be somewhat feminine and delicate.

4. But handsome at the same time.

5. They also need to be sharp features. His nose can't be big.

The problem is that most guys, even when they have that look at one time, such as Jesse McCartney or Jeremy Sumpter, usually tend to grow out of looking that way as puberty hits and they take on a more masculine appearance. Especially when it comes to actors- most have to look like a lantern-jawed leading male. And even with models, androdgny isn't as popular as it used to be. So I'm really wracking my head trying to think of guys who look like that.

Alex Prettyfer, had he have a smaller nose and looked a little less butch, probably would've been great...

Mark, can't you just write that JJ's appearance masculinized when he hit around 18 or 19? C'mon...I wanna use Alex. J/K, lol....

I got this idea from Dom Luka's board. Mark generally has models for his characters- Tony Dow is the basis for the Hayes look, for example- but I thought it might be interesting to ask how YOU picture the characters.

I'll start.

Actor Ryan Devlin is how I picture Mark in On the Mark.

Of course, at this point he's too old to play teenaged Mark, but I think he'd be a damn good mid-20's to early 30's Mark. I've got Mark pictured as having a narrow, triangular face that's cute, very whitebread, and endearingly dorkly.

So, any of you have an actor or a model that you've pictured as one of the characters in Mark's stories?

this picture reminds me of stefan from mark's story 1968

A blond version of this for JJ?

This is Gaspard Ulliel. He looks more masculine now, but at this point he looked femme enough for JJ.

You're really stumping me on JJ, Mark. I thought Sterling Knight hit close enough, but apparently not. I thought Jonathan Taylor Thomas as well, but his look is too exotic.

Brad Pitt is 40, not 60! Honestly, I'm not good with comparing someone to a celeb like that. They have their own looks, though I do kind of think of Matt as being similar to Van Hansis, only a bit more masculine and thicker and muscular. Also, I think he has a different eye color. Oh, and there's a Czech porn star who has a similar look, but I can't show him, so I'll just go with Van Hansis. :P

Liam Hemsworth would make a damn good Hayes boy, I think.

He has that total Teddy Bear quality to his face and demeanor that a Hayes boy needs to have.

Maybe Liam could be Zach?

He's a perfect Zach, Jeremy. He even has that mercenary look about him, that says he just doesn't give a f**k about other people.

Either of these two for JJ, I think. The first one especially has the figure skater bod down.

Or...

JJ's been REALLY hard to cast. I've been kicking around ideas for two years now and Mark still hasn't signed off on one. LOL. I do figure the rules about what JJ looks like is that he needs to be blond, he needs to have elfin features, and he can't look butch.

I finally figured out Claire....Amanda Seyfried from Mama Mia.

Can't you just picture her as the woman who's cute doll face and short, curvy body hides a steely determination to get things done while using her feminine wiles in an extremely awesome way? She even has the green eyes and the well-endowed chest that Claire is supposed to have.

Hmm. I don't know. Isn't Darius supposed to be much swarthier than that, so much so that people think he's Spanish when they first meet him until they realize that he's half-Israeli? This guy looks too pretty and whitebread for Darius, I think. Just my opinion, of course. I do like the look a lot.

Yes, only he's half Iranian, not half Israeli. There's a bit of a difference there. Posted Image

So just as a recap, we have Sean Faris for Will,Lucas Till for JJ, and Colton Haynes for John Hobart. That's one damned attractive set of cousins.

We finally have Gen 4 casted. I'm so happy. LOL. (Why yes, I have no life.) I had Will casted two years ago. JJ took me two years. Mark was damn picky about what he wanted JJ to look like. LOL.

Meh! I am with Matt, Parker Coffin for Will. He has the quintessential CA surf look.

Well, Sean Faris is just the official Will. You can picture him how you want to picture him, of course.

Of course, I'm not really seeing how a guy who looks like Fabian Forte would, with a dark-haired Italian-American woman, produce a son that looked that blond. I mean, I guess there's always recessive genes, but Will's face needs a stronger face than that Coffin kid because we're supposed to think that Will has a really mature, masculine face that makes him look more 17 than 13. I picked Sean Faris because I thought he really looks like he could be the son of Fabian Forte mixed with a darker-hued Italian-American woman.

I think that could be a good Jason, though.
