    Brought Home

Jo was a wanderer with few ties. One of the few people he was connected with gives him a place to stop and gain his bearings but can he ever be more than a screw up floating from place to place with no heart to call home?

    conflicted

Okay... what I got from all that was "Should I try and hook up with this guy I had this major thing for in high school?" I have 2 responses to that. I 'think' that the boyfriend you mentioned was the old guy's, not the young guy you are in interested in. If I'm wrong then moving forward with the intention of trying to get intimate would be wrong-you should never poach another man's man, imo. That doesn't preclude hanging out as friends though. The second response is that life is freaking short. Why not meet up and keep an open mind about getting together, for a night or maybe more? So he doesn't live nearby ... that might change, you might move or he might, if things really took off. You never know and you won't know unless you give it a shot. At the very least you're reconnecting with what could be a good friend again, and even if nothing lasting comes of it, if you guys do hook up you have the fun from that at least, lol.

    A World Changing Gun

LOL! No, I know, right? I titled it that way deliberately. The gun really will change the way burn victims are treated-changing their worlds. Being hurt badly makes you just want everything to stop, and burns are some of the worst pain ever. I thought the theme fit the story well, but in a really unexpected way. Thank you so much, Yettie, for reading and reviewing.

    A World Changing Gun

LOL. Well I do have 8 siblings! I know just how that byplay goes here and there, when it's second nature to taunt and pick on each other but when the bad stuff happens, no one cares more. The story was prompted by a show I watched on the stem cell skin gun, but I was hurt really badly as a teenager. I know how that anger works when you wonder if your life will ever be the same, so when I wanted to do a burn victim using the new technology, it was something to draw on for the emotions of the Vance's character. Thanks for reading hun!

    A World Changing Gun

I wanted to do something different. Quite often things can happen that we don't expect and anger at the way our life changes can be especially hard for teenagers-they never expect the bad things to happen to them. I'm really glad you enjoyed the story, thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh, intriguing beginning. I've been loving alien fiction lately!!

    Married to the Enemy

Thank you Redhot! I'd love to get back to these guys sometime. The worlds I created would be great fun to explore! First I have to finish my other stories though.

    Chapter 1

I wonder how likely that would be; I mean, there would still be a lot of rich families and politicians are always family/religious types. However, if I focus on that I'd have to focus on whole objects coming to Earth. I always wondered what the big object was. I'd hate to be that one girl too. That'd be awful, knowing that any children you had would have to be the very last...*shivers*
  10. Suffocation-one of my worst fears. A whole planet at once? How horrible! Not to mention, which is worse, to know with no hope or not know and not get that chance at goodbye? I wouldn't want to be one of those astronauts either, because they'd face the same fate but a much longer time in the making. Lovely story, though the flow felt a little uneven with th major drama at the beginning. I liked it though, even with the hopeless ending.

    Earthdrown

Very sad story/poem. Especially with that glimpse later into Greg's therapy session when it seems like maybe Steven hadn't been so far off.

    Chapter 1

This story was so sad and poignant but I really enjoyed it. When it really struck Ron that Alice had left him messages, that she knew him so well as her other half and had planned to never leave him or make him leave her, that moment made my eyes sting a little. It really resonated with me as an 'old married lady'. LOL Thanks so much for sharing, I really enjoyed this story.

    Helios Unleashed!

I liked Gavin and Rory's story and the ending was a nice twist. This felt a little long for the story events, but the overall story kept me reading all the way to the end without skipping. In comparison to Dolores, I actually got why they'd shoot so quickly and deal with the aftermath so pragmatically. They had months of hearing guns, wondering, worrying, and realizing that the world wasn't going to help them-they were on their own. Not only that, but based on what they saw and heard, it was a kill or be killed eventuality. When people are faced with that it can easier to pull a trigger than most would think. Thanks for sharing your story Bill!

    Chapter 1

I really enjoyed the 'End of the World' theme that involved the personal end to a character's world, and didn't revolve around the 12-21 thing. Since I can't abide those who drink and drive-no matter what the excuse-I found myself thinking... it serves you right! at the end, lol. Your good guy was also a villain imo. I did find it strange that you specifically mention he headed off walking-implying that he was headed home-then had him get into his car but not remember that part. That conflict with writing first person-meaning you can only share what the main character knows/remembers made that element unworkable for me. However, this was still a good short story!
  15. The futuristic modern world was great. I loved how you did the whole 'the world's end will repeat' but you also showed that the human race went on. You wove in so many elements from the crazy end of the world doomsayers like the cults and stockpiling. Your writing had a good amount flow and a nice arc.

    A World Changing Gun

I know I said Thank you personally, but I wanted to respond here too. I really didn't plan to write this, but it flowed so quickly that it was almost necessary. I do like writing stories where a person may not feel like they deserve their worth, for various reasons, but they get their happy ending. Thank you for reading, and for the review.

    Chapter 6

hey, I love the gushing. LOL A lot of people thought I should have fleshed this out more, but there are obvious challenges to writing flash pieces. I appreciate the understanding though. Thanks so much for always reading and sharing your thoughts.

I definitely wanted that interplay-18 is legal but not adult all the time. Tragic accidents happen all the time to ordinary people that can be, or seem, world-ending. I wanted to play with the new technology for stem cells and share that too. Thanks for the review Layla!!

    A World Changing Gun

Sorry Michael, I don't tend to do light-hearted all that much. I didn't make the world end though, wasn't that good of me? Whenever I write, I try to make my stories as realistic as possible (and I'm glad my writing quality was up to snuff)which includes the bad things as well as the good. Sorry if this was a little heavier than you expected but thank you for the review.

    A World Changing Gun

All the pain and accidents and bad stuff in the world doesn't mean an end to the good stuff in life too. I definitely wanted that to be a big part of this, hence the romance with the happy ending. Okay, I'm also just a sucker for a romance and a happy ending lol! Thanks for reading and reviewing Terry!

I'm so glad you liked it Secretsides, thank you! There was lot rattling around in my brain for this story, and ways I could have made it longer, etc... but this was just right in my book too. Thanks for reading!

    A World Changing Gun

Life happens, you know? Ups, downs, good and bad. I've experienced many of those highs and lows and I really brought all of that to bear on the emotions I wanted to convey in this story. I'm glad it worked, thank you!!

    A World Changing Gun

Aww, I'm sorry! I gave it a happy ending, you know? I didn't want it to be all doom and gloom.
