  1. Do we have practice with hidden cameras much Lugh? Darn teenagers! I really do like how you can spin a fantasy story. I love our modern fiction shorts but I think your true talent lies in making up whole new worlds for your readers. Rix's family, his society, his whole universe is so fascinating. Besides, who wouldn't want a huge lavendar haired muscle man or a guy with a naughty naughty tail (from Monday). I know readers will be just as thrilled with the next installment. Can't wait!

    Hiding

Aww, thanks. I guess I like stories that are pretty traditional but I don't like them to be cliche. I like to look at things from other angles sometimes and then bring them to life in a story. Thanks for leaving a review on a story you already read and gave me copious comments on
  3. Awww, such drama! I like the way the flashbacks and the present scenes blended, it was as very pertinent through the story and it didn't affect the flow like that can at times. I actually laughed when I read the last line. Like, D'oh! I can't believe he said that but hell, let's go with it! lol. Great story.
  4. Quite the bittersweet story. Love found and enjoyed but then lost. Not through a lack of love but because sometimes it's just not enough to hold 2 people together. Very interesting take on relationships, definitely not a happily ever after but a good read nonetheless.

    It Was a Holy Day

You create so much tension in this story over and over. The emotions in it vary from happy, to sad, homicidal anger to protective caring. Lightening it up all throughout are these totally hilarious one liners that really make it in my opinion. It's a rich universe you've created and I love being able to be a part of the process. Can't wait for more!
  6. This story made me laugh. It was light and funny. I've seen folks acting like fools in the store all the time and it made me think of how I probably looked to them as I shook my head and wondered if they had missed essential doses of some medicine they were supposed to be on!
  7. They are both. You don't have to read Bonds first, it just explains the bonding process a bit better throughout the story. These are not interlocking stories, just set in the same world so I might not explain it all in every detail in each one, though you will get more information in each. Perhaps I haven't been as visually/informationally sharing in this one because of my previous story. I might need to reconsider that. Basically, Carthera are both human and animal. They are sort of twinned souls inside themselves with their human halves and their animal halves. Because I'm a romantic all Carthera have a 'mate' they can be with, but it's not always easy to find them. However, though they have their animal selves inside, until they mate they don't manifest those physical sides their clans share with the true animals they are like. These are the animal types/characteristics I have shared in stories so far. Some mammal clans will have fur even, I just haven't gotten there in my stories yet. Anyway, I hope this helps make it make sense. Essentially, though build may be there before mating (like small for bird clans, big for bear clans) un-mated Carthera look human. When they mate they have both human and animal characteristics that are irreversible. They can't go back and forth, so to speak like traditional were stories. Jaguar clan: They all have spots like jaguars, but along their foreheads, temples, neck and down their backs. Cat like ears, sharper senses, retractable claws, night vision like cats but they still look like men in every other aspect. Their hair color indicates animal color most often as well. Their young children are called kitlings. Lynx clan: skin tone like a lynx skin, faint color markings. Pointed ears, fangs, claws, their body muscles also change subtly, mostly around the joints. Applies to other big cat clans as well. Snake clan: Scales down their back in patterns depending on their sub-clan, fangs-either fixed erect or folding erectile fangs. They also have varied venoms like their snake animal counterparts would. Their body shapes, eyes, tongues, skeleton are all different. Bird clans: Builds are smaller/slighter from the beginning with lighter bones. Their hair color usually denotes what type of clan they are. Once they transform they develop wings, talons. Wing patterns are very important.
  8. Oh please! Like you guys don't have those games you play. You so do! Not all guys are he likes me or I like him so I'm going for him flat out. I could name several guys just here on GA who do the coy, look at him/try to ignore him so he'll talk to me, bit. As for the sex scene, well let's just say I'll be waiting for your review!

    Chapter 9

Great chapter. Hot sex and then a real emotional wrench thrown in at the end. Poor Blaine and Levi. I know the road is only going to get rougher but sheesh, these guys can't seem to cut a break!
  11. Did you ever read Bonds Unbroken? That's the first story in this world posted on GA and it has some cats too. There are quite few different types of Carthera in that one though. The next story I'm working on after this one involves yet another clan. Almost endless possibilites in this world, it's great fun since I love animals I know quite a bit about various species. Honestly, I really like shifter stories that don't focus on werewolves, though I do like those. Cats are so soft, often affectionate, yet the big cats hold a fascination for their deadly reputations that makes them a very good character to write. My cat is by turns needy, standoffish, affectionate... I got this story idea one night as he cuddled up on my shoulder and chest as I lay down reading. He was so close I used him as a soft, warm headrest as I read. Boom, cuddly cats came to mind and I thought up Bashta and Cavel! Add in their hot guy human side and we have 2 hot catmen!
  12. Oh yes, old cats are definitely learning new tricks in this one. Though he's not old... just older than most of his clan. In my mind, late 20s. Most Carthera find their mates in their teen years to very early 20. Cavel is unusual for certain reasons you'll see later. As for your other question, this story is almost completely written. It's a short story, 3 maybe 4 chapters more. I will be posting weekly most likely, never any more than that though. No gaps in this story posting.
  13. Yes, the isolation is something that has created both the craving for touch and companionship and making him fear it. Cavel might have had his clan but he has his own brand of loneliness. I think they will be helping each other out in the end. Thanks so much for another review!!
  14. Oh yes. Jaguars are such an interesting mix of big cat/little cat. I researched heavily for this story so hopefully it will come through but not overwhelm the characters with the details I've been trying to add in. I love shifter type stories a lot, especially in modern settings but these guys are natural in nature so I wanted to mix that in this modern fantasy. I hope you like Ch. 2, thanks so much for the review!
  15. Chapter 2 is now posted in GA Stories. Enjoy!!!! Two of a Kind
  16. Cavel's breath was frozen in his throat as his gaze shifted from the swinging branches that were already settling to Saulle's smirking face. His body began to shake and his eyes were riveted on his second in command whose cocky expression faded into fear as he took in the sheer rage in Cavel's eyes. The entire group remained motionless until Cavel took one step toward Saulle; as soon as he moved they shifted away, leaving a wide space around the hapless victim of Cavel's fury. "You fucking id
  17. The double standards in our lives for different types of people is astounding. A druggie is a druggie. Someone who wants help will find it, the rest are a drain and waste of society all too often. Addiction is an absolute soul sucker, only the strong make it through.
  18. DD people don't tend to have much of a filter. They say what they want, do what they want a lot of the time. I respect that. Most of what we view adult behavior as is control, control, control. I'm not saying they don't worry about how others view them but or aren't hurt by fidiot's reactions but if they can they tend to call people on it which is great. I've done some work with Arc a long time ago, it was definitely a eye opener.

    Epilogue

Awww, thank you dear! They are not all like this though most of my stories do involve new relationships. Some fantasy, some modern, some romance, but all with a pair meeting and falling for each other. What can I say? I'm a sucker for those first meeting moments. Thanks so much for the review dear!!
  20. I make your stealth cat laugh at my tortured cat and I escape unscathed to tease another day!
  21. It's been a while since I came in here and stirred things up. I know what happens next, neener neener neener! No, in all honesty, the shower scene is simply perfect, I love the break there Nephy. You set a great tone for what comes next. The emotions in this story are very strong and definitely make it what it is. As much as I love the stories you write with a lot of action this one tugged at the emotional heartstrings and quickly became a fav of mine.
  22. I love feedback as much as the next person. Is lack of feedback going to stop me from writing or posting? No. Will it maybe make me slow down a bit if I'm not as in love with the story to work on something else? Sure, sometimes. For me, writing is a hobby. It's fun, sure, but if I get all stressed about it that element of fun is gone and then why would I want to do it? Everytime I encounter a new author on GA and have a conversation with them I say, promote yourself. Post your chapter update in your status update, in a discussion forum, talk to people on-site, interact, review for others, get a beta reader, become a beta reader, any or all of the options above. Another good way to get feedback on a project if you aren't sure if you want to post is the Sneak Peeks area. When you get feedback, respond, respond, respond! Read the Writer's Corner topics on writing, improve, learn, pass on tips and knowledge you have. In other words, just BE here. The more you put into something the more you get out of it. I know some of the authors I have spoken to have passed this information on and that's great. I try to do at least 5 reviews a week, if not more. That's not a lot but then again I sometimes have a lot to do on GA other than getting to read (which I sometimes whine about) but every little bit helps. Often you can look at those authors who are wanting to remove stories or stop posting and see they aren't doing those things at all. As Tomas said, if we don't know the stories or author is there what do they expect? Squeaky wheel gets the grease, after all.
  23. Let's see. I have 5 stories I would call 'started' and 2-3 with notes written and plot ideas formed just waiting. I am only actively working on 2-3 of those at any one time usually though. I tend to do one for a week or two and then switch. Deadlines motivate me, endings stall me. I hate writing endings. I used to only be able to work at one but now I don't mind having a few going at once. Beta reading is a whole other story. It's even more fun for me than writing I think. Some of my writers consider me an editor, some just a beta reader. I help each one in very specific ways depending on what they want and need. I will do anything from just giving my opinion on a story to plot points and timeline errors to that as well as checking grammar/punctuation/spelling. That also includes anything in between, depending on the project. I also do a lot of back and forth with some in the idea stage. All in all, I beta read most often for about 6-7 authors but on occasion up to another 9-10 or so will ask me to look over stuff for anthologies or special projects. I usually have several chapters a week to look at if not whole stories waiting for me. Sometimes I work with them paragraph by paragraph even. What do I get out of it? I get previews of the latest work from most of my favorite authors. I get to talk about stories and writing and I actually get to help in the creative process. So many times I've yelled at my actual books because the timelines are off, or they totally miss something plotwise that bugs me. I get to say, now, this doesn't seem like a character would do this or that. Or, this scene is good but I think it is missing this aspect that would make it great. When I read I can't shut off that part of my brain that does that so it's nice being able to indulge my urges to comment with authors who accept my suggestions the way they're meant. I have one of my writers for a beta reader, Renee, and she does all of that for me in return. I also like all the comments I get via review, forum post, or pm that challenge me on my story in much the same way. Why did I write something, how they feel about it, and what could maybe be changed to make it better, is exactly what I like to hear because it's what I do myself. I think working together with other authors and readers is one of the absolute best ways to learn, refine, and improve our skills as writers.
  24. Happy Birthday dear! I hope this year is even better than last year! Hugs!!!
