The only people you need in your life, are the people who need you in theirs. - some person sometime

Its interesting that you should mention this as I had an entirely different experience in school. My discomfort with my schooling came from being I guess what one might call "unusually mature" for my age. I had no interest in the shenanigans of people my age, and often found it difficult to find people whom I could comfortably related to. I feel this would have intensified in an all boys setting, as for the most part it was the males I went to school with who made things unsavoury. In my schooling career I always recieved tons of awknowledgement and accolades for my academic achievements (no alliteration intended ) as did many other boys I was schooled with. There were of course the bright girls in the class, and they recieved their share as well. Long story short I'm thinking that the issue you described could be present in the teaching methodologies/ideologies of educators in your city/country/region, versus an inherent flaw in the co-ed system of education. Conservative and traditionalist ideals (the variety of which are negative in impact) will of course be present everywhere in some form. Selectively hiring and monitoring teachers, along with pro-active involvement of the parents and students in providing feedback to the educational institution would probably be ideal, to reducing such instances. Just my thoughts on your feelings

No thankfully I can say I havent ever pursued it. I've entertained the thought a few times in my life, but its never really been a serious option to me. Always like, well I could do that, without any real weight behind the idea. I find theres way to much of what I dont like in suicide (besides the obvious dying consequence) for me to ever really bring myself to a level which would allow me to even attempt to commit it. I've never been one to self-mutilate/cause self-harm either (at least on purpose, some of my earlier drinking days might say otherwise.) I never found the sense in it to be completely honest. Please dont mistake me when I say this however, I dont feel that people who do cut or w/e are stupid. Its definitely not a good idea, but there are things going on in their head which are clearly not correct (whatever those conditions may be.) I've never been able to think up a rational reason to hurt myself, and as a person of reason and logic rather than emotions and feelings, I simply cant do it. I do know a couple people whom have seriously contemplated suicide, and knew a couple people who caused self inflicted injury. All of them were deeply emotionally connected people, and I do not think this is coincidence. As a side note, there have been alot of suicide related posts and threads as of late S: I wonder whats causing the uprise.

While I doubt the truthfullness of that story it is true nonetheless, people should be loved, and when you put objects before people in your life, there are issues which need to be dealt with. On a side note, I hardly ever read these things

I actually lawled saw the video title haha Back in the day, I used to think The Christmas Shoes by Newsong was pretty sad. It still is lol. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related "Sir I wanna buy these shoes, For my momma please. Its christmas eve, and these shoes are just her size. Could you hurry sir, daddy says theres not much time, you see She's been sick for quite a while, and I, Know these shoes will make her smile, and I, Want her to look beautiful, if momma meets Jesus, tonight" :'( Thats probably the closest a song has come to making me cry. I guess I'm just a robot.

Pretty much agree with everything you said in this post, so to make my post smaller, I just quoted less haha.

canned corn is my enemy for life. I'm way pickier however, about the presentation of my food, versus the actual content. Usually as long as it doesnt resemble anything unsavoury, I'm good.

Saw this article posted over at another forum I frequent, and thought I'd see what you guys thought/felt about it. Was the coach right in his decision? Does the need to follow the rules always win out in every scenario in competetitions? Read the Article Here Personally, I think that was a huge dickmove, and entirely uncalled for. I would be ashamed to have won under such circumstances, definitely not something to be proud of I think. Following the rules is an important thing, and "rules are rules" is an important lesson to be learned for sure, but as with anything there are limits to how much good being unwaivering in your beliefs might provide.

Thanks for the responses guys, they are much appreciated. I figure the choice is one I'll have to make once I start further developing the story, and more likely, when I get there (there as in to whatever part in the plot it might be included.) Feel free to continue discussing this, as I'm still interested in any other opinions you may have on how to properly implement a sex scene, or avoid one, once I decide which is best

Yup, this is generally what I was getting at.

Hey guys, so basically I'm making this thread, because as you may or may not know, I'm in the process of writing a story. I've had the ideas in my head for this story for a while now, many years in fact, and have decided that with the summer here, I have plenty of time to sit down at plan/write it out. Anyways I've coming to a turning point in my planning process. Do I, or do I not include sex as a plot device in the story? I know that this is a largely subjective issue, and that it is ultimately up to me in the end, however I still am having trouble deciding if its something I'd like to write. I've written such scenes in the past (when I was younger ) and it wasnt an exceptionally terrible or enjoyable experience. Pretty much mediocre I'd say. Anyways, what I'd like to know from you guys, is how everyone feels about sex scenes in stories. The one I'm working on won't be revolving around such things (which I know is more commonly known as porn) however I'm not sure how to implement it, or use it as an effective tool for character development. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of using sex scenes in a plot driven story are much appreciated, and are in fact what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for any ideas you might share on the subject

Well I assumed as much, but that still doesnt clarify what you meant. Were you saying that indeed, you dont believe there is such a thing as straight? Because by that admission there also is no such thing as gay either Or were you saying, that more people are bisexual, then they let on? Which is something I can agree with. The bit you posted about the children of cannibals will be cannibals leads me to believe that you were trying to convey this idea, versus the idea that single sex attraction is a nonexistent phenomenon. If this is the case I'd suggest re-wording you initial post, because it seems apparent it doesnt accurately reflect your ideas on the matter Edit: I guess I should add, that just because the case of those two people you talked to proved that someone might be more into guys then they let on, certainly doesnt prove that the entirety of mankind is that way

While I see what your getting at to a sense, I dont entirely agree with the logic and reasoning you used to get there. What you said is akin to saying you're lying to yourself if you say you dont like grapefruit, only oranges, because from certain distances and in certain scenarios they look different and may be mistaken for each other. People are largely similar, and there is much give and take between genders. Common social standards are what are usually the defining factor for what is discinctly male or female (ala long head hair and zero body hair being female, short head hair and hairy being male), but of course, like any gradient, there is cross over. Some people may align with their gender physically, and some may not. What it comes down to is personal preference. Someone who is male, might possess traits which another male finds attractive, and this is just where physiology, and preferences might intersect. However, I do agree with you that there are many more people whom hold some kind of physical and emotional attraction to people of their own sex (ie. are bisexual to some degree) than most would have you believe. The desire to fit into the mold created by previous and present generations of social normality is a much stronger force than the one to be true to yourself for most. Unless ignoring that part of yourself is ignoring what the individual considers a substantial part of themself (which could mean anything, as I said, its what the individual considers substantial, what is substantial to some, might not be to others) most will live that part of their life as it fits the mold. What this also means however, is that there are people who simply are not attracted to people of the opposite sex, just as there are those who are not attracted to people of their own. Some people like ONLY oranges, some ONLY grapefruit. Most PREFER one, but will try both at some point in their life. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, but whether or not you communicate those feelings of beauty and lust and such is a product of far more environmental factors. So I think anyways

Lol coincidentally I was watching the biggest loser, when I began reading this thread. Anyways I hate working out. Its like the worst thing ever. I used to be in great shape, because I played basketball everyday during the winter. This year however, I found I never shed the winter bulk Ugh, I suppose I should bandwagon it and start doing something too ;_;

QFT I have a couple friends who went to all boys schools, and are severly socially awkward around girls (or were). Moreso than typical teenager hormone horniness can account for. Like even just basic social norms for interacting with girls on the level of friendship seemed to be lost to them. Not worth it imo. If my kid starts slacking in school and his/her grades take a hit, then tv, friends, etc will be the first to go. Not people with whom they're learning.
