  4. I'm fairly certain that the pillars of creation in the M16 nebula no longer exist. I remember reading an article that there was a nearby star which had gone supernova, and effectively obliterated the "brad pitt" of nebulae so to speak edit: Ahh yes, found the article, http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10925-pillars-of-creation-destroyed-by-supernova.html

  10. Very true James, very true indeed. I would definitely say that the transportation aspect is the greatest hurdle, but you never know. I dont think it will be for awhile though, the scope and scale of space is simply mindboggling. Its hard to build on a scale that you cannot really experience (at least not yet)
  11. So I was watching a show on TLC today, about this young boy Liam Hoekstra, whom according to the program has a condition which has "gifted" him with approximately 40% more muscle mass then average children of his size and age. Now as interesting as it is in itself, it brought up the issue of genetic related discrimination, and the question of where do we draw the line in terms of advantages in sports and competition. The program also mentioned Michael Phelps, saying that he has a genetic condition in which his body is able to get rid of, and deal with lactic acid (one of the main reasons behind muscle fatigue and the 'burning' sensation) much quicker and efficiently than most people. It went on to say that as a result of this many people have questioned how much this genetic advantage contributed to Phelps seemingly endless list of achievements in the pool. It really is an interesting thought, with no simple answer. So what do you guys think? When does luck of the genetic draw turn into an unfair advantage? As a side note, I dont anticipate that this will turn into a superheated discussion or anything, but if it does obviously, I'd ask a mod to move it to the soapbox
  12. I wouldnt know :< Being 19's sucked so far for the most part haha

  14. You better be careful with matt there cam, looks like everyone wants to snatch him up! xD
  15. I fail to see how this equates to the idea that one can sing away their problems. If anything its a demonstration that you don't always need to nuke someone to achieve some form of progress or resolution. Well I can agree with you that it seems the "church" still attained a slight victory here in the sense that they are getting media attention once again from the incident. However it seems pretty obvious that the goal of the highschool was to search for a non-violent solution to the situation. Clearly it would be easier to just beat them all up, but that doesn't solve much beyond creating a grey zone for ones rights. Its hard to run an even slightly sometimes fair society when you make exceptions all over that place. But, I'm sure you already knew that.
  16. Happy birthday drewbie!
  17. Happy birthday Kia!

  21. Well I don't think it was a matter of "dreaming far enough" to get caught, but rather that when you recreated from memory, you would lose your grip on what was a dream and what was real. In addition to this the whole thing with limbo was not that it was inescapable but rather that the compounded time effect was so intense, you could spend a couple real-time hours in limbo, and have lived 50 years in the dream. In the movie it addresses him not being able to see his kids, because the dream is a memory, and he cannot "create" anymore of the memory which doesnt exist. He said that he left before he got a chance to see his kids faces one last time, and as a result the dreamworld recreation of the memory is "incomplete". At the end of the movie he sees his kids because its no longer a dream. You could argue that he was unaware that he was dreaming, and thus created them himself, but there is plenty of evidence to refute the idea that he failed to make it out.
  22. Well the only way this could be true is if your theatre got a different print of Inception than mine did lol. A couple of my buddies whom I work with are projectionists, and after having put the print together into one continuous reel, neither confirmed that there was anything at the end of the credits. I havent stayed to the end myself, so I cant say 100%, but I dont see any reason why they would lie to me lol. That'd be somewhat interesting if there were actually prints of the movie floating around which gave some closure. Btw for the record, I'm thoroughly convinced he got out, and was not dreaming.
  23. My top 5 is presently 1/2/3 - Inception, Fantastic Mr. Fox, How To Train Your Dragon (3 way tie) 4/5 - Crash, Man on Fire (tie) honourable mentions Thank you For Smoking Lucky Number Slevin Pulp Fiction
  24. I'm pretty simple when it comes to style. I kinda like bright colours occasionally, but not too much. I generally colour co-ordinate. I've found recently I've been wearing alot of primary colours. Blue, red, yellow. Jeans are nearly always raw indigo washed, and selvedge, with a slim straight/fitted cut. Works out well enough for me I'd say Oh and shoes. Gotta love my kicks
  25. Anything by lady gaga that she released after just dance. Anything by justin bieber. Most of the top 40 stuff. Pretty much if its mainstream music, I probably wont like it. *shrug*
