Heya Mac, There is a welcome thread called, surprisingly enough - New Member Welcome. I'd suggest you post this there too, most people read that. But either way, welcome and enjoy [keep on enjoying? ] Andy

I have both, do I have to choose?

reading your response to Conner, to have to agree you are truly evil. Knowing that Eli and Malcolm will be together and that it will end badly makes it hard to like him. No matter how much he says or does that makes him lovable we know he's going to break Eli's hearts. As for David kind of the same; He is there now, but he'll be gone. Definitely an interesting way to present your story. Interesting in a good way.

Chapter 2 - Lifelines and Lovelines
Andrew Q Gordon commented on littlebuddy's story chapter in Chapter 2 - Lifelines and Lovelines
Been gone a while, but I see you're rapidly adding chapters - that's good. Interesting that you're also using DC as a locale. The Fountain, the Starbucks, geez, been there, done that a few times, though I usually get coffee at Kramer books or SoHo, not Starbucks when I'm there. Enough of that. For most of the chapter we get to see the angst filled Eli, and then wham, he sort of gets over his pining for Chance in a big, fast way for David. Of course, if Chance had said, reschedule with David, Eli would have in a heart beat. I wonder what's next. Obviously his feelings for Chance are going to slam into anything he tries to have with David - or is that just me imagination? -
Do children count as persons you want to kiss on New Year's Eve?

Dave, Because you asked so nicely, I decided to post a few days early. SO Chapter 23 is up - Andy -
Nothing like a good stiff one right before you get bad news. My guess is that Caroline got wind of Davina's machinations and asked Sir Phillip Fatcock err Kerry - to deliver news to her husband personally. But what do I know, right? One thought that did come to mind, what if the ship he was on had sunk? I mean news must have been awful sketchy to come by, or did people send it through multiple couriers? That too would have been a bear as you'd have to hand write things multiple times. Egads, how barbaric, no email, no printers, no copy machines, no faxes, I mean when did these people have time to do anything?

Spoken like someone who's certain they'll get branded 'hot' I think I'll take a pass on that suggestion. YB. LOL Oh, Trev - I saw that.

Sorry. We had my cousin here on Friday then we all drove to NY for the weekend for a different cousin's baby's christening. The girls - My cousins 12 week old and Baby Q got to hang out and ignore each other - sounds like what they'll do as teenagers Assuming I get a few things done today, I'll try to post 23 later today. Sorry for the delay. -
Can I pick both??

Isn't one man's trouble another man's fun?

Wayne, First you are free to watch Mike and I kiss anytime. Second they sound like assholes, so don't feel bad. They sound like stuck up A list wanna bes who when they are your age will hate themselves because none of the 'other' young people - a label they will apply to themselves - give them the time of day. So there are two ways to look at this, one - some stupid twits with the IQ of cabbage - insulted you, or, they haven't a clue who you are, what you are, or how well liked you are so who gives an F' bomb about them. Either way, it doesn't matter, they're assholes unworthy of your time. Andy

Dude, you're getting old From one old head to a slightly younger old head - Happy Birthday! Enjoy and have fun.

George, I was joking, about going back to rewrite, I agree there were times when you feel a bit sorry for him, well not too much. All I meant by Conrad Murray is that in some ways that's almost as real or unreal as Jordan Colmar to me and most people, because all we know about it is from the media. I didn't follow the trial either, so all I know is he was tried and convicted. As for being gentle, what did you say that required a good bludgeoning? Jeez, I sure hope you didn't insult me cause I didn't get it and that means you would have wasted the effort.

Was that the best either of you could come up with?

Have we really run out of questions or just answers?

A touch of Humanity? Jordan? Crap, I gotta go back and re-write that. Jordan was someone who was totally a product of his upbringing. Mommy thought the sun shined out his arse and he never got into any trouble she and Hank couldn't pull him out of. But at his core he wanted to be all the things they thought he was - but really wasn't. In Sec Shot, Jason mentioned that Jordan was going to use Jason's being gay to try to make himself look better. To me that summed up how I saw/see Jordan. He thinks by casting others in a lesser light it make him shine brighter. As we know, that is rarely if ever the case - He's the same as he was, but now the others have come down to his level. Crazy how the characters created seem to have a life of their own as if they were real. And to some extent they are as real as say Dr. Conrad Murray and his trial. I've never met the man, and never will and all I know is from reading and hearing about the trial. I guess this is an example of fiction imitating life

Chapter 7: Verdict
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 7: Verdict
Thanks Mr. C, I'm always glad to hear folks 'see' what I'm trying to show. As for Jordan, well yeah, he'll get his, but I wouldn't have much hope he'll learn anything from it. He'd have to admit he did something wrong first. As for the 5 years hence, well it's started, in rough form, that will be next year's project I think. -
Chapter 7: Verdict
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 7: Verdict
Thanks for the feed back. I tried to infuse each of the characters with a bit of life, so I'm pleased you felt that. I agree that no one is better for Jordan getting 50 years, but at least he won't do it to anyone else. I hope to get to a Jason and Peter sequel 5 years later, but not sure I'll get to it anytime soon. Hang in there, it may come sooner than I think. Andy -
Chapter 7: Verdict
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 7: Verdict
George, Thanks as always for the feedback, as a fellow lawyer, I get the sense you'd know if I were trying to BS folks. I'm glad you picked up on the 'no one really's better for this' part. Many victims think a guilty verdict will wash away all anger and scars, but rarely does it do that. There is closure, some satisfaction, but you can't remove the feelings and the why, the attack will bring up now and again. As for another trial, I think I've tortured the Colmar's enough, time to move on to other stories. [that and I have no experience with a tax fraud case so I'd be pulling it out my ass for sure. ] -
Chapter 7: Verdict
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 7: Verdict
Whew, I guess I can unload the shotgun and put it away for a few years - until baby q is old enough to date -Glad to hear you were able to visualize the court room and proceedings. There were times I just skipped over things then had to go back realizing most folks wouldn't 'know' what was happening. As for the many years from now - yeah, no. I have in mind a few years later story with Jason and Peter, but by then they've both put Jordan out of their mind and wouldn't think of going to visit, not even to gloat. Why open an old wound? Thanks again for reading and giving me your feed back. -
We seem to go round and round on this - basically your confusing leniency with compassion. Like him or not, it is a huge waste for a 21 year old kid to have tossed his life away for no reason. No matter what happened to Peter, Jordan's life being flushed away is not cause to celebrate. Does that mean you ignore the victim's plight and go easy on the defendant - no, but it's hard to explain unless you've actually stood up there and asked for the Judge to give someone a life ending sentence. I've done it, and to be honest, it's no fun. You don't let the defendant's age or circumstances sway you, because there is a victim and society needs to be protected, but still if you don't feel for those whose lives your basically ending, you might need a new job. There are reams of stories of prosecutors for whom the only goal is winning and how they almost always end up breaking the rules just to get that 'W'. That's where you end up when you can't see what you're about to do. In my opinion anyway. Your second point seems so obvious doesn't it? I don't know why everyone doesn't see it that way either.

Chapter 7: Verdict
Andrew Q Gordon commented on Andrew Q Gordon's story chapter in Chapter 7: Verdict
Jordan's age would likely have no bearing on the sentence he receives, but it would be hard for anyone with any kind of compassion to not feel something when sentencing him to what would likely amount to the rest of his life. There is a Judge I appear in front of often who tells the kids when they are on probation or on release pending sentencing that he doesn't want to lock them up, but if they don't follow the conditions he'll do it. He tells them, I feel bad, but I'm going to keep my word and lock you up because that's what I have to do. And he always does when they screw up. The point I was making was Milton might be a crusty old curmudgeon, but he is not a heartless jerk. Yes Jordan will deserve whatever he gets - every day of it - but I don't know too many judges who take delight in doing that to someone who's 20 years old.
