  9. Good chapter I think Jeff and John are still on track. After all Martin specifically said his cousin told him to watch out for "someone he cares about". So I am confused about this chapter. I don't know what went down, and I'm not even sure why John is that hurt. It seemed like his original wounds, while bad and ugly, didn't necessitate a hospital stay and unless I'm wrong most people don't go to the hospital simply because they fainted. So maybe he hurt himself in the fall? Or because he already had been hurt or something? Anyway I can't wait to find out what happened! Kevin
  10. This makes me feel so much better about all the ridiculous things I've done. Like the time I blew up a mug because I put it in the microwave and forgot to put the liquid in. (I've since quit using microwaves...not for that reason, but is it really any wonder when they're all out to get me? ) you're the bestest, Vancey! Take care Kevin

  13. Julien Gregg I hope you like it! Take care Kevin
  14. So I finally did it. I finally managed to sit still and focus on an idea long enough to produce a first chapter. It's a story idea I had about 2 or 3 months ago. I frequently come up with story ideas. I even often conceptualize them to a high degree and plan out the plots and characters. Getting them down on paper is the hard part though, but I finally did it! I'm really excited about the story too. I hope to post it in the "Sneak Peaks" section within the week. I might still add a few things to the first chapter so I don't want to commit to it going in as the "official" first chapter yet. Ideally I'd also like to write the 2nd and possibly 3rd chapter before I start posting them in eFiction so that hopefully I can have a new chapter to post every week or two weeks. So a little bit about the story without telling you anything about the story. First off it's pretty dark. They'll be quite a few heavy issues covered and while I'm not promising a miserable ending for any or all of my characters I'm definitely not promising a happy ending for them either. (so basically they may all end up miserable or they may all end up happy just be prepared for either contingency. ) There's essentially 5 or 6 "main characters" though if you absolutely cut out the strong supporting characters you could get it down to 3. There's also several "significant" characters so as of right now the main cast is about 12-15 strong. Each of the main characters have a story to tell and I'm not going to end the series until they've each told it. That said I have a very definite ending in mind, so this isn't going to stretch out and be a "never ending" story. It might be long (actually it definitely will be if I'm going to do it properly) and I reserve the right to alter my plans as I go, but I do plan to resolve the major issues and stop. So what kind of story is it? I want it to be taken on a philosophical, "what do these things say about life" level. Hopefully it'll make people re-examine some of the "certainties" to which they subscribe. (So obviously if you don't like your certainties questioned you probably shouldn't read it.) That said though it probably fits best into "drama", though I'm hoping to add quite a bit of mystery/suspense. There's a romantic theme running through it and I hope to make the readers "invest" in the relationships, but while that's a part of it I wouldn't even say that's the main part. The nature of friendship is also a major part. So hopefully there's something for everyone. Anyway I'm really excited about it and I hope you guys like it, but again these AREN'T admirable characters and while I think they have something "teach" about life I definitely don't want anyone using ANY of them as rolemodels I'll let you guys know when I post it and PLEASE give me your honest feedback (all positive AND negative criticism is desired) I don't expect people to "like" what some of the characters are going through, but if I'm not presenting it in a realistic and compelling way then I want to know. Anyway take care everyone! Kevin
  15. Hey David Very well put! I think that's definitely an important part of leading a happy life. Thanks and have an awesome day! Kevin
  16. Excellent points, Steve! I quite agree LOL, well unless it was a Christian school with the same attitudes and beliefs that Ian's parents have I personally think any private school (Christian or otherwise) would be more likely to "get in their business". I definitely agree with you. I think some people might not realize the degree to the punishment and many of them probably think "light" physical punishment is okay even for a teenager. My take on this upon initially reading it (to confess I have read the whole thing , but my "initial" reaction) was that Ian's teacher thought that Ian truly believed what he was saying in his paper. It's not uncommon for people from religiously or politically volitile homes to blindly accept the idealogy their parents are spewing even if they haven't thought about it on their own and can't give good reasons when questioned. They still "believe" it, they just don't really know why. I think Ian's teacher is assuming that Ian blindly accepts the thoughts expressed in his paper and he's hoping to challenge Ian to think about it on his own. I agree, I think the fact that his mother works there is central to them being able to control Ian so much. I wonder if she took the job just for this reason? Have an awesome day everyone! Kevin
  17. Have an awesome birthday!!!

  21. YAY hehee HMMMM, when he gets one I want one too!!
  22. Well my three favourites have already been mentioned I'll Stay and Fight, At This Moment, and For My Dad. I can't really add anything to what the three of you have already said so beautifully, but I found these poems deeply moving and impressive as well. I Grew Up Without You is also really poignant, and Forever has always been one of my favourites; I've always gotten a huge kick out of it!
  23. Hey Everyone! WOW I really loved this chapter! I'm so glad that we finally got to find out what happened to Kevin's little brother, even if we didn't find out who did it yet. My thought was that Billy had gone with Kevin to the birthday party, but I guess that's pretty unlikely. Given that it couldn't really have been anyone else we're familar with it must be a stranger (brillant deduction I know :king: ), so I guess I can wait to find out who it is since I won't know who it is even when I know who it is. I agree that the dream was very realistic, in fact at first I thought Nick was recounting what had happened in another chapter. As far as "What does it mean?", well I think obviously it represents recurrent painful memories about what happened with Billy and a deep sense of disappointment about the way Kevin's parents treated him. They did basically unite to ignore him Also, while his father certainly seems like the better parent compared to his horrible mother, I think we should remember that he knowingly left Kevin in the care of a woman like his mother, he also allowed Kevin's step-mother to mistreat him (not even in regards to the incident with his little brother) and then of course allowed her to turn him again Kevin. So his dad is definitely no saint...either that or he's not very perceptive. Of course we must wonder why he more or less repeated the pattern of marrying women that were bad for him with Kevin's step-mom. Well my very basic take on it is that they simply aren't necessary. The story is told first person through Kevin's eyes and he just isn't going to be calling his parents and grandparents by their first names.
  24. Hey CJ! awww! Wow thanks! Can't? LOL, well I know what you mean and thanks! ...I hope so too lol I think this would look great somewhere inconspicuous, like, say, my siggy? Oh my gosh!!! You wouldn't!!! hehehe, yikes, I'd die of embarrassment, even if it were in the sig. of a shy, quiet lurker like you ***Starts looking for ways to pay off the goat*** hmmm, new shades perhaps? Take care and have an awesome day! Kevin
