  1. I have been thinking that this money is for lawyers for Allan... guess we'll just have to wait and see. I just hope that Denis finds someone who makes him happy and I'm starting to think that it's Travis. Steve
  2. I think one of the most telling things about Denis in this chapter is that he talks about the isolation he's feeling (and so does Owen) since he rejected his past friends & family but hasn't been accepted by anyone else in the story except Owen (and now Travis). Plus the way Denis dotes on Valentine puts him way into the "good guy" column. Dom's got another great story on his hands and I hope we get another chapter soon. Steve
  3. This looks like it's going to be another great story from our favourite author! I'll be "itching" for the next few chapters so we can figure out what is so important for Matt to get out and do. Steve
  4. I was kind of wondering what name would be on his uniform since I know the royals use one of the names of their peerages as their last names... I suppose I should know this since he is 3rd in line to be Canada's King... they usually leave us Canadians alone except for the occasional visit to make sure we haven't changed the locks while they've been gone... Steve
  5. Yep, and getting some of the pre-bomb history helps in figuring out some of the stuff I've been scratching my head about...
  6. My guess is that Brian's friends and mother set this up because they knew that Pete would be there with the new boyfriend but we'll have to wait until the next release to find out the implications of what happened at the party. My guess is that Pete realizes what a jack@ss he's been and goes back to find Brian has moved on... And in case anyone is wondering what were talking about.... http://www.deweywriter.com/chapters/dewey/tpw/tpw24.htm
  7. Philistine hit the nail on the head about my thoughts on the chapter. I know the great Dom will (eventually) reveal all that we have questions on but like everyone else I'm wondering who will end up with whom. There's the Ryan\Lacy\Nicky triangle. There's Kyle\Travis, Travis\Aiden, Dennis\Travis, Dennis\Owen & Aiden\Owen angles to resolve. Oh, and let's not forget Chris and Reilly who seriously need to find someone. Steve
  8. I'm actually hoping for Owen & Dennis to get together. Owen seems to be the only person Dennis seems to be able to relax around and they have common pasts they use to relate together... if Dennis is gay that is. Steve
  9. I'm liking Denis more and more with each chapter! I'm still not sure if it's Owen or Travis that's going to help Denis find the purpose and fun of life again. Then again we don't really have any proof yet that Denis is gay either. And where will Kyle's infatuation\nuturing instinct for Travis lead? I could be wrong but didn't I read something from Dom a while back that asked how we would feel about hetro relationships in a story? Could be Denis, could be Nicky, could be Ryan, could be another story he's thinking about. Each chapter leaves me with more questions but this is shaping up to be Dom's best story yet! Steve
  10. Another great chapter Dan! It's interesting to see Eddie go from a angry loner who had his entire life mapped out to a nice guy who's questioning everything he thought was important in his life. I'm still trying to figure out who is trying to run Joe out of town if Eddie's Dad was at home drunk and his mother isn't just covering for him.
  11. Feeling much better now that I've had another Dom fix.... and as I said after chapter 2, I would be happy to see Denis with Owen. I'm at a point (Dom being the master of manipulating the readers emotions) where I feel for Denis contrite acceptance of his current life that I just want to see him happy. Steve
  12. My thoughts exactly!!! At this point I just want Denis to find someone to make him happy (I guess that's the hopeless romantic in me)... now will that special someone be a male or female? Mind you there are alot of characters who need to find someone at this point. Steve
  13. Kurt, One more baking tip that will make your life easier... Pick up some Parchment paper (it'll be right beside the wax paper) and put that on the baking sheet... nothing will stick to it and it makes washing the cookie sheet a snap! Steve
  14. What a great ending to a great story! I especially loved the chat with Kevin... you even managed to make him a sympathetic character in only a couple of paragraphs! Steve
  15. Vance! Two more chapters of a great story.... yes, that should make people upset (well, maybe only upset they spilled their coffee when they start jumping up and down in excitment!) Steve
  16. I would also suggest that you start at the beginning of the series and not just The Power Within. I don't think reading the prior stories would be required to follow or enjoy the story but it would fill in many blanks from the occasional reference to past issues from the characters.
  17. I'm another one who doesn't make New Year's resolutions so that I won't be disappointed when I break them... As for the whole plane versus the train debate it depends on where you are. Here in Canada the two major airlines are just about done modernizing their fleets but the train system is still using 1960's diesel technology... plus for me to travel to the west coast would be 5 hours and $498 by plane and 4.5 days and $1200 by train!
  18. Thanks for the suggestion on Key Lime and Custard Jack. I stumbled upon this story and really enjoyed it and them started in on Drew's other story's. I liked the changing perspective from the American and British perspective in the Key Lime collaboration with Tim Mead. I would also recommend Trapped Nerves by Drew that is a little bit depressing but also a good read (can be found at CRVBOY). I also would recommend Tim Mead's "Brody Comes Home" which he wrote after his collaboration with Drew (also CRVBOY) Trucker and Pup is my favourite of Drew's stories so far and the transformation of the characters is very compelling! Steve
  19. Yep, it was great to see Pete get called on the hypocracy by both Brian and Kevin and even MORE satisfying to see that Pete does have a consience! I agree with James that it would be good for Brian to get a decent boyfriend in time for Pete to realise the huge mistake(s) he's made. I also think there's alot more that we haven't see yet about Pete's time with his mother's abusive boyfriend (I think there's more than just verbal and physical abuse that Pete hasn't dealt with). The Power Within is a great story and I'm hoping that Dewey found LOTS of time to write over the holidays so we don't have too long to wait for the next chapter. Steve

    so...

Hey Dom! I haven't read your Blog in a while and I'm sorry to read about all the crap you've been going thru lately. I'd don't have much more to add than has already been said other than thanks for all the enjoyment you've created for us and it's genuinely appreciated! Enjoy some time off (both from writing and work) and I'm hoping that someday the writing bug will hit you again and we'll see something that will exceed the already high bar you've set. Steve
  21. Another Great Chapter Vance... things seem to be continually going up for Ian. Poor Jeff though... Steve
  22. I think we'll see him popping up very soon... what leads me to this guess was that Rev.Delmar and his wife talking to their older daughter and I got the impression that she was planning on fostering also. I think it would be great for Ian and Tony to belong to the same extended family. Steve
  23. I like the new Internet Explorer v7... it has many of the features people like of other browsers. I will give the disclaimer that professionally I have reasons for preferring IE (I work in computer security so I'll leave it at that). I think it's a fallacy that there's a best browser as they all have advantages and disadvantages and you just have to decide what things you are expecting out of a browser and go with the one that meets most of them. Steve
  24. It is really heartwarming to see the change in circumstance for Ian. It's always amazed me the talent Vance has. I first read Shane after he had completed it and read it over a couple of days. After reading the first two chapters of Shane it left me with such a strong feeling of unease that I almost stopped reading it but instead just decided to grab a box of Kleenex and plow ahead. I think that Unbreakable will follow the same pattern where Vance takes us through his great writing to the depths of dispair and, eventually, the heights of happiness. Steve
  25. YYaaahhhhhh!!! Nothing else needs to be said about this chapter! Steve
